As promised, today I have uploaded 6 tables made for VPX 10.7, using the new wall properties. To me now the physics are perfect, and they are the best I can do with VPX physics.

The tables are:

JP's Ghostbusters Slimer 3.0.0.vpx
JP's Mephisto (Cirsa 1987) 1.0.vpx
Serious Sam Pinball II 3.0.0.vpx
Serious Sam Pinball 3.1.0.vpx
Miraculous 3.0.0.vpx
JP's Indiana Jones (Stern 2008) 1.0.0.vpx

Two of them are new tables, Mephisto and Indiana Jones.

Just in case: JP, i did the changes for mp3/ogg (see VP10.7 thread), please let me know about remaining quirks.. (and thanks once more for your awesome tables, especially Serious Sam 1/2 is so cool!)

Thanks for the changes, and they seem to work very well. I only use plain stereo headphones, and now the OGG music plays as it natural volume. So I think it is a nice combination using WAV for the table mechanical sounds and OGG for vocals, DMD effects and music.

With support for OGG or MP3 now we can get nice quality music with a small table size.

UPDATE

3.0.2 Updated 21.02.2022
- Update for VPX.7. Cleaned up the files and adjusted 2 default values.

I have rewritten a few parts of the document, maybe it is easier to understand now (well, if you understand Yoda then you will understand my English :D )
Still this is for authors or "moders" who want to try to implement my physics in their own tables.

Note: people have asked me why I don't use nFozzy/Rothbauer settings for flippers and rubbers. And I must say that their approach is really good, changing completely the physics, and they work perfectly. But they do that in the script, and big calculations in the script needs a powerful CPU. And in many computers those big calculations will make the flippers and the whole table feel sluggish and the ball will stutter. That's why I prefer to adjust VPX built inn physics, which will work fine on all the computers.

I have updated the settings, the only changes are the flipper settings and the script from which you can copy/paste

I have dropped the very high ball mass and very strong flippers and I have found a setting that will give the same shooting angles and accuracy as the older flippers (which were based on ClarkKent's flippers mods).

Now the flippers are more standard, but they are still strong enough to get very nice shooting angles.

The rubbers, metals, plastic and the other physic materials are the same, so the tables will play just the same as with the older "arcade physics 3", but I like better the feeling of the new flippers.

A few of my latest tables include these physics:

Little Chief, Lap by Lap and Solar Wars

UPDATE

4.2.0 Updated 19.05.2023

- JP's VPX7 Physics Rev 2

The biggest change is the routine written by JLouLouLou to enhance my flippers to be able to do any trick you may do with real flippers.

Just try the included AFM table and test live catches, tip passes, cradle separations, backhands, etc.

Edit: My new tables will include this new flipper code, and when VPX8 is ready for testing then I'll update my modern tables with this code too

The good thing is that the changes are very small, only the flipper routine, and loading the materials and the physics table settings :)

Just gave the AFM table some quick plays, and yes, it is an improvement. Although the flippers look weird initially (e.g. bouncing off when dropping down), but its how it is (at least to some part) in real life, too: https://youtu.be/Tmg5WOvPKpU?t=503

Well, this will probably be an unpopular post but

I liked the flipper bounce on release, that was very cool.

but :(

A thing i noticed was missing is, the flippers no longer deflected if impacted by the ball.
Previous version of AFM with previous physics, if ball hits flipper at high speed, and flipper isnt in torque mode any more
you can get a brief deflection of the flipper.

Some observances that seemed weird
At times the flipper rubber would seem totally dead, sometimes it was almost as if the flipper sucked the ball into it
I also noticed that at times the ball would act as if influence by magnets in a subtle manner but one that kind of defied logic.

I am going to pull the latest 1.8 beta as mine is a bit behind because i was waiting for certain visual aspects to advance farther
and see if perhaps that is the difference.

If not, id say my preference is
Flippers from physics 1
Materials from physics 2
And flipper return bounce from physics 3

Mix N Match LOL

Ok i updated vpx to latest action, along with vpinmame etc.
perhaps a bit better, but the above observations still exist.
