Destruk: You don't know what the hell you are talking about!!! er wait, you do.
Yes, Brian and several others have said it well, there is no reason why the Nintendo vs Sega mentality has to pop up so much. We're all buds and budettes, let's just enjoy video pinball for what it is: great entertainment!

When I re-discovered FP last November, I built my cabs with only FP in mind. After seeing some of the advances with VP9, I installed it, and it was a very good decision. I love both emulators for different reasons. I am glad that I will now have a place to discuss FP, and I won't be going back to that other forum if it comes back.

xzotic,
I have the right to like peanut butter and you have the right to like strawberry jam.
Nothing is dead as far as I'm concern. I have intention to help with VP development but I will not make it my core priority, Since I feel that It is more easy for me to use FP and to shine with it. a Statement like yours only show the rest of us that you are not someone confortable with changes, but I can understand that and live with it. Nonetheless, I'm expecting you to understand that FP bring me as much joy as VP does it for you.
As for peanut butter and strawberry jam, they go along very well.
my 2 cents

I am quite positive that I will only develop a new table on Future Pinball. I love VP and still use it to play what people have made, but Future Pinball is simply too perfect for what I'm after - the ability to design a realistic looking, sounding, and behaving late 80's pinball machine. I don't play much FP other than to test the games I'm working on, so the physics that everyone complains about doesn't bother me because the graphics, sound, and atmosphere of a game is what makes me love a pinball machine, be it real or digital. These elements are much easier to create and tweak in FP, and as a designer that is simply what I want.
So anyone who says "FP is dead" is only making me want to create and release the best thing I can think of to prove them wrong. Long live both FP and VP.
Brendan

Thanks Steve, I actually like both Peanut butter and Stawberry Jam but never have tried them together (That is an American thing isn't it?)...Perhaps I should try it and then eat some humble pie....
Welcome to VPforums by the way, didn't mean to get off on the wrong foot with you. Enjoy. Cheers.

It could be said that until 2009 there were two different "sides" on pinball emulation: VP and FP.
There were people who said VP is better, others prefer FP, some said FP sucks, some said VP sucks. But there were a lot of people who only cares about the silver ball, they don't care how its called or in what platform is played, they just simple love plain pinball.
Regarding the closing of the FP Forums...
With his decision Chris managed to do one very difficult thing:
Join together two different communities
So I said that If we all get along and we keep it all together, ignoring if the first letter of our program start with a F* of a V* we will be bigger and stronger. If we keep our resources and we share our knowledge, if we respect our different opinions and points of view and try to learn from the errors, we could make the most important pinball community of all times!
So let 2010 be the best year for all the pinball fanatics out there...
and... meanwhile, don't forget to keep da pinball rollin' =)
Richard

Well said destruk, I could not agree with you more! And if haven't checked out the FP tables from Blindmankind - go download them. NOW! I found out about DeadHunters last year and just loved every second of it! His original FP tables are brilliant!
Best Regards,
Todd.

Hi Everyone!
I've been a few days off and was quite surprised about the closing of FP Forum.
But I'm happy that you're all here and continue the great community. Closing the Forum isn't a reason for me to turn my back on FP. Even if there was no further developement.
I wouldn't bother if there was a "Patch" to remove the expiring problem.
Mike

kind of ironic... on christmas i return to the fpforums (after months of not visiting) hoping there might be some new release or something and thinking that maybe i might be able to motivate myself to do some new models again...
then two days later the forum is down and it seems black has pulled the plug over some sort of (probably stupid) arguement...
i haven't talked to black in months and haven't talked to him as of yet either... i sure would have liked to see the changes/improvements he must have made to fp in the meantime... and i sure would have loved to see rom-emulation(support) added one day... and improved physics... weird...

I'm happy to see we have a corner here on VPforums. There is one thing that I don't like:
If all the great creators of FP tables move over to VP tables, many of these tables won't fit on my pin cab.
The one thing I hate about VP tables is when the creator adds so many gadgets that don't rotate very well. For example, if they add the entry of a cave in jpg format, rotate the table and that jpg, doesn't rotate. It just won't follow the rest of the table.
PLEASE NOTE: I'm not complaining about the tables/nor the creators of VP. Not at all. It's just that my TV isn't rotated in the same way as everybody else. In FP, it is an easy fix but not on VP (at least I haven't found out yet)
With this said, it would be a shame to see FP die a slow death. I like the graphics of FP but enjoy the bigger realism of VP and the ROMS support.
To all of the creators of fine pinball table (be it in VP or FP) I tip my hat in total respect. I can just imagine the time you have spent in (re)creating many exciting tables.

Good to see you here Lio, and yes I agree it's ironic. The last posting I saw on FP forums was a post from you saying that you're still checking the boards, but just busy with real life. I hope to hear Chris' side of things eventually.

Great, I visit FPForums after a long period of doing nowt to discover its gone ..... Waaaaaaaaahhhhhh
Was never able to get FP working consistantly on my PC [which was frustrating] .... says more about my inabilities than FP .... but am sorry to see the forums going.
Maybe it was a hacking glitch ... despite what others have said here ... and may therfore return; that would be nice.
If not, welcome to everyone here ... this may be your new home. All are welcome
