I have downloaded the file, renamed it, zipped it, and placed and replaced it multiple times in the roms folder and vpinmame still won't pick up that it is there.

This is the ROM I'm using:

avs_170h.zip

If this ROM doesn't work, then you have something wrong with your configuration.

Maybe run Setup.exe from vpinmame and click install, check the rom path, but I guess other tables are working, so that can't be the problem.

You can also try to upgrade the latest vpinmame beta 3.5 from here:

Releases · vpinball/pinmame (github.com)

And use only 32 bits programs! :)

Thanks for all the help and thanks for being a legend JP

Hilariously, I think I found the issue from downloading that file.

When i zipped the file it made it a .rar instead of a .zip.

All my other files are .zip.

After testing: It 100% works.

Thanks so much and sorry for being such a newb with some of this stuff.

UPDATE

4.0.0 Updated 1.10.2022

- Updated to my VPX7 physics
- Added my VPX7 LUT changer to darken the table (hold down LEFT CTRL while change with RIGHT CTRL). Including GI brightness adjustment. Use the LUT changer together with the day/night slider to give the table the level of darkness you prefer.
- Updated my mechanical set of sounds to a more "under the glass" sound, as people seem to like those kind of sounds better.
- Changed the Environment image to enhance a little the object shadows.
- Some small script updates, like the Rolling sound and PlaySoundAt routines.

Amazing graphics, thank you very much. Flippers keep working even after the game is over. Is it intended?

Yes, that's a result of the fastflips for the SAM tables. It is either that or slow flipper response :)

JP, check for gameon sol
if true, then flippers rotate to end
if false then rotate to start.

there is another way Michael showed me, but i dont think you need it on a stern rom as they have a game on solenoid

I can't get this game to start, it gets stuck with a missing ball message.  I've tried deleting the nvram file and I'm still having the issue. I'm using the latest rom, patched to colour (which is working)

Me too.  And I've tried everything on this site.  I have never seen this error before.

I guess you both have the wrong rom. There are several roms at the Stern site.

As I wrote in the download post: "The table uses the Avengers LE ROM, get it from Stern, zip it, and rename the zip to avs_170h.zip"

UPLOAD

5.0.0 Updated 29.06.2023
- Updated for VPX8

This is also only for VPX8, as all my version 5 of my updates. It includes many changes, using things that are only available in VPX8, like the new ball, linking flashers to lights, which let me remove the old fading lights as it wasn't needed anymore, as the flashers can now fade according the the light they are linked to :) Also the animations, like the top of flippers, or gates, or the Hulk are done internally by VPX8, and they don't need a fast timer anymore.

Edit: I have also done several changes to the table, like a new tesserac animation, removing all those 100's of walls and replace it with the way sliderpoint did his version using 2 balls :)
O also went "bananas" with the flashers, maybe a little too much? :D

Holy moly the lighting is amazing JP! Yes perhaps a bit overdone with the flashers. I imagine in a cabinet it would light up the whole room! :) Love the new ambient color lighting for each avenger, very very cool!

Love your version of this table and hadn't played it in a while. I have been trying to run the v5 of this table and something I didn't notice before (it does this with V4 as well).

When the right flipper is pressed or held, my contactor assigned to this button fires when pressed...and also fires again but on a delay of about 1 second.

I have tried running both the v4 in vpx 10.7 and v5 in 10.8 and have tried both the avs_170h and avs_170hc roms.

I also checked my DOF config for these roms are set at default on the DOF config tool site.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Find the line 581, the Sub SolRFlipper(Enabled)

and delete or comment the next line

    if UseSolenoids = 2 then Controller.Switch(swURFlip) = Enabled

and if after a few games the rom complains about a switch then enabled it again. I'm not sure why this table needs that line, or I maybe simply forgot to remove it :)

DOF is ROM controlled for this table

I think it is reacting to the solenoid for the upper flipper, which may be staged?

Both flippers might be staged, but I'm not sure how to remove the sounds that should not be there when pressing either flipper button.

Thank you, but commenting out if UseSolenoids = 2 then Controller.Switch(swURFlip) = Enabled line did not fix it. I checked the Stern manual and compared to the DOF config tool. They are different, especially the Slingshot Right values.

After ensuring the solenoid switch numbers match those in the script and removing the S2 switch number in the config tool for right slingshot the delayed contactor firing is now gone. It was actually the right slingshot that was firing on a delay when pressing the right flipper.

DOF feedback seems fixed, however when a ball is in play and I press either flipper button, I can hear what sounds like a plunger release. There is also another sound that happens on a delay when pressing the right flipper, but it's hard to describe. It's almost like opening a can or popping a lid on something.

The sounds are fairly faint and coming from the backbox speakers, but definitely there. There are no backbox sounds for this table inside the Sound Manager.

I've never had this happen with other tables, so I'm not sure where to look for a fix.

No staged flips, had to go look at table

 if UseSolenoids = 2 then Controller.Switch(swURFlip) = Enabled

it is a stern table, so it would not have use solenoids = 2
it does not use that method of fast flps (it has no gameover lamp)

it also has no swURFlip switch as it has no upper right flipper, swURFlip is controller.switch(81) but since this table does not have it, it does nothing

so that line would be ignored anyways simply because UseSolenoids cannot = 2 on a stern ROM, and this table has no such switch, pressing that switch does nothing , the line can be thrown away, it being ignored anyways.

Not sure why it is there?

Any sound you hear from the backbox on this table comes from the ROM, but i am not hearing anything weird when pressing flippers, and i have over ear headphones on.
