VPM 2.6 already has support for the different coloured shades, so russ would just need to wire this up.

Thanks Russ, I've been out of the loop when it comes to color as I've been enjoying my vishay for so long now. However this may get me to change. Can you comment on the lumin output compared to the vishay? I.e. Is it the same relative brightness? Cheers

Brightness is about 300% of the vishay i actually run default on 50% and thats still too bright. Brightness is fully configurable so down to the user what they want it set to :)

I tried to demo the feature earlier in this thread but my phone does such a crap job its poubtless trying. Virtuapin will be taking some proper videos of all features shortly.

Wow! It must be blinding because the Vishay is already mega bright! But that's fine if the brightness can be set. Sounds like plenty of range there to satisfy anyone (including those wearing sunglasses) ;)

Yup the LED panels are designed and built to be used in advertising boards or stage screens, so are very bright. But you can set the brightness from 0-100% so fully customisable.

I'm currently writing the pinDMD3config utility app at the moment. You be able to configure (for now)

DMD Brightness (whole display)

Each separate shade (4 shade and 16 shade)

Rainbow mode cycle speed

Not a big issue but does pinDMD3 support the static DMD logo?  A long time ago I think I created a logo file from this website: http://www.hyperpin....hp/tools/dmd-it

I don't know if the website still works but maybe some crafty coder could update it to support a colour logo now?

Best Regards,

Todd.

Yup static logo still supported but the format has been updated to .ppm for colour images. Most art packages like photoshop will save out as .ppm

I was reading the documentation for PinDMD2 and there was a concern about making sure the USD ports power down with the computer.  I'm running a Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP and cannot figure out a way to power down my USP ports.  Anything drawing power when the motherboard powers down continues to get power.  Because of that, I have to manually unplug my plunger prior to booting.  My concern is that the board will continue to be powered after the display has shut down.  I really want to pre-order this, but I don't want to risk burning it up because of my USB situation.  Tell me I'm good to go and I'll process the order today!

Go into the motherboard bios and under power management find ErP settings. Enable that. Shuts off USB when you power down. Do this as long as you don't need to wake the PC up for remote access to your drives/devices attached to your PC via USB. If this is a dedicated cab just for playing pinball then this should not be something that you need to do.

None of those issues apply to the pinDMD3 as the usb does not power it any more. So you can have a unpowered display connected to your pinDMD3 with it plugged into your pc with no problems at all :) This is one important design change i wanted to make in this version.

Thank you, Carny_Priest.  You helped me solve a problem that has bugged me for over a year.  Not having to reset the plunger is going to be a pleasure.

Russ, thanks for the quick reply and for fixing that issue.  Seems like I've resolved the problem from my side, as well, so we're good to go!

its not really needed now as photoshop/gimp/online tools all output the .ppm format now used so no conversion tool is really needed :)

Just open photoshop reize canvas to 32x128 draw your COLOUR image. save as .ppm DONE :)

Thanks Russ!!  Is .ppm format supported by pinDMD1 or pinDMD2?
