remember when I said I wasn't gonna work on the table I must have lied, as I create objects and redraw other parts

here's a little video of the progress - there's so much to figure out. I don't understand yet how to get to the balloon, or the octopus platform...it's very complicated and so hard to determine from the pictures and manual.

Somehow you get to the balloon, the ball travels up ( I think it's a ball lock actually) and then the balls release to the ramp. There's also a platform running to a ramp in front of the octopus I'm feeling out, and the area under the volcano... stuff that's just hard to see, there's a basic idea of how it should work but I need to get it right. I really wish I could play the machine to see how it works.

Looks great, though the one thing that is obvious to any old pinball player with years up his sleeve is the terrible flipper settings, wide swing arcs, being able to trap a ball with the upper flipper come on? Also no doubt the table physics are that bad also, just saying like it is from the video viewing.

I'm having trouble with solenoids. The ones listed below are indicated in the rom, the ones with question marks are unknown, not indicated in the rom etc. I know there's VUKs...it doesn't tell me the flipper solenoids either (not necessary)
how are flashers controlled?
ball locks? any magnets?
this is so difficult.

you can trap the ball with the upper flipper on the real table. but thanks for the uninformed comment

Really...never played it, have you? I find that not credible, either way that swing arc seems just way out, compared to the 100's of real life tables I've played, typical pinballs have an arc of about 52 degrees to maybe 56 degrees, that looks to be about at least 66 maybe even 70!

I've got a video of the gameplay from akiles, my rotation may be off since i haven't touched it yet, but for sure the ball can be trapped, the lower flippers are definitely incorrect and have a more natural rotation but they are also shorter flippers as far as i can tell so the rotation is more extreme on the ball

inder and spinball tables have the same flippers and often have high cradle points

unfortunately there's only a handful of verne's world gameplay videos available so i can only go by pictures for most things

here's the clearest example i have (besides the video) of the flipper rotation angle

I had a look at that octopus model, I wouldn't recommend using it since it has a face count of 34135 faces and it needs to move so it can't be rendered static.  Generally speaking from my experience with 3D in VP you want to try to keep dynamic models below 20k faces total for a table to ensure good performance and preferably below 15k to be sure.

I decimated it down to about 9k faces, it really looks awful (As you can see in the video) beyond that there's not much I can do with it. My intent was to use it to make another model in milkshape

The shape of the curling tentacles looks better than the actual toy on the table, from a FS perspective you'd probably only really see 2 tentacles (judging by how it looks in photos) but I suppose for a desktop version having the entire octopus would be to some benefit.

Thanks again to Akiles for the video, gtxjoe scripted the heck out of this today and he got it working perfectly. I will continue on the table and convert it to VP10 for release as soon as possible. Lots of little things to figure out in the meantime so I'll keep busy :)

Freneticamnesic the animation of balloon is perfect but the picture of Octopus it,s very strange.

It,s better that you use the octopus of any of these two pictures:

2la6d0w.jpg

314uzgx.jpg

Also the black plataform where the octopus is put has more weidth that the iron moving out:

ncjdhh.jpg

It,s better that you crop the black platform with the octopus of the second picture that I have uploaded in this message, because has a lot resolution and it,s like the original pin and has the perfect angle for the recreation.

That Octopus that you has put now it,s very different to the original pin

Akiles the octopus I have now is not final, it's the only octopus 3d model that was available, I put it in as a placeholder to test movement and placement. I believe dark may help with it, I've got some time before I will release so things will improve don't worry! I try to do everything as accurate as possible

The only thing I need is a 3d model for it, as accurate as can be. I can't simply use a 3d image in its place, it never looks right...

I have the main body of the model mostly complete just needs a bit of tweaking before adding in final details and then mapping.  I'm going to make the actual bumper car a separate object since between the 3 pop bumper cars on the table only the cars are different colors, the drivers are all identical.  Also after studying the resource photos the car portion of the model lights up, so it will be easier to accomplish this effect with them separate.
