  • Right click the files and select Properties in the context menu.
  • Select the General tab in the properties window.
  • If you find the text _"This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer" or somthing similar on this tab, click the Unblock button.

The only time I get that error is the very first time that I run the program, after that it makes the ini file and it no longer gives the error

For anyone who may find this helpful. I have found out what to do to get FutureDMD to work properly with tables like SLAMT1LT's Ultimate tables (with lots of videos).

Problem: The animated "backgrounds / images / textures" on the DMD in FutureDMD would be corrupt while the text was fine. DMD on the backglass would look fine.

Solution: I had to goto the texture manager for each table and make sure EVERY texture that is used for the DMD has "Allow runtime (ST3C) texture compression" enabled AND "disable texture filtering (image used on DMD)" enabled as well. Changing these options in video / rendering won't make a difference... you have to do it for each texture use on the DMD.   It's not needed for the Overlay textures, unless of course they are also being used in the DMD.... depends on the table.

It can take a while, but after doing this, FutureDMD looks amazing in a cab with a DMD on a 3rd screen that can be sized anyway you want with any colour,etc... Now I will be able to use the rest of my 3rd screen for playing the video clips on these Ultimate tables (using an extended resolution for my backglass the spills halfway onto the top half my 3rd dmd screen)....cool.

I've tried it on T2 Skynet Ultimate 1.06 and Nightmare on Elm Street Ultimate so far.

edit: I'm silly... read my next post....ignore this post.

Do you have Trilinear texture filtering enabled under general Video / Rendering options? That produces a corrupt looking image. All I've had to do to get FutureDMD working with Slam's DMD tables is set Texture Filtering back to the default, Bilinear filtering. I've always kept Use Texture Compression (S3TC) disabled. I've never had to modify the individual textures.

Well damn it all Carny_Priest... way to make my post look absolutely ridiculous!  ;)     Everyone IGNORE my post above!!!

I've tried so many countless combinations to get this to work with SLAM's tables without the corruption. I even tried your suggestions as I read them in previous posts, and had no luck or change....

....but I forgot to obey the most important FP rule....  if you change any video settings, close your table and future pinball and FutureDMD.... then run everything as per normal, and all is well.

So yes...  all I had to do was disable "Use Texture Compression (S3TC)", and make sure texture filtering was bilinear or lower... and close and re-open everything.

Thank you soooooo much! Saved me a lot of work.... but I learned a lot more about FP in the process, and now I can use SLAMT1LT's videos on the rest of my 3rd screen as a result as well as have the FutureDMD's DMD on the same screen. Looks cool, but will be much nicer when my cab is done one day.

Thanks Carny_Priest!

You don't mine is always on. Why do you want it to close? The next table uses the already opened fituredmd.

No outhere i mean how i can go out over pinball x.....not with right click close Future DMD...

UMPA , if the Future DMD is allways on i cant start a Visual Pinball Table or a FX2 Table because the Future DMD overlaps the DMD from VP or FX2...

I don't know about fx2 but I have no problems with a vp table showing on the dmd after existing an fp table. I can check settings if you would like. I think all I did was drag and size the vp table dmd and it always appears on top of futuredmd

This is in the PDF File

-

How to Start FutureDMD in your cabinet.
 Start & Close with PinballX
-
Start & Close with PinballX ini

-
Open your pinballx.ini file and modify the existing lines to this after [Future Pinball]
LaunchBeforeEnabled=True
LaunchBeforeWorkingPath=(your future pinball folder) example: C:\emulators\Future Pinball
LaunchBeforeExecutable=FutureDMD.exe
LaunchBeforeParameters=table="[TABLEFILE]" close=1
That's it!

If you're using pinballx as a front end to launch games and you have it set up like that then you got something else going on

Is there any way to have futuredmd NOT show on screen or load for only some tables when launched with Pinball X? I have it working fine with Pinball X opening FutureDMD for each table and closing FutureDMD after exiting a table.... but I have some tables that don't have any kind of DMD, and I would like for Pinball X to show something there instead of a blank unused DMD.

I know you can have each table have its own specific colour via the FutureDMD.ini file, but I was wondering if you could have FutureDMD minimise or close itself based on a particular table name as well.

High fellow Canadian.

The tables without DMD's showing up on your 3rd monitor are likely older vintage "EM reel" and "Gas Segment" type of display tables tables.

You can create DMD's for these tables however as per my tutorial http://www.gopinball...php?f=55&t=5050

The Tutorial shows how create DMD's  with :

1.Current Score

2.All Player ScoreBoard

3.Statistics ( games player, credits, ball in play, high scores)

4.Attract DMD  that cycles various information

The tutorial is "Cut and Paste" and once you are on to it , it should only take about 5 minutes per table...

I hope this is what you are looking for,

Cheers

I eventually was going to go this route for some tables yes.... but I wanted a way to replace the blank not used DMD (for mostly older tables) with Pinball X's DMD still image for that table, and FutureDMD has to be closed for that to show.

Will try the tutorial though.... soooo many tables.

Ya that would be nice if it was automatic.

Sounds like you just want something simple.  However each template in the tutorial should work independently,  so for instance you could just

try the "attract mode DMD" routine and have it going the whole time instead of just a static image.

http://www.gopinball...t=5050&start=30  see section "F"

Once you are on to it the process is quite simple

You just:

1.Create a new DMD called "MyNewDMD" and assign DMD fonts as directed

2.insert what you want under Sub EndofGame()  (just a simple text statement for a "Static" DMD,  or "CycleFutureDMD()" as in tutorial

3.If you choose attract DMD you also just copy and paste the code

and that's it......I hope

so you don't have to worry about all the other templates described in the tutorial

Now I'm trying different things....

I'm using FutureDMD and its Pinball X plug-in. I now have it always running. Everything runs great in PinballX and Future Pinball.

I was wondering if its possible to have the FutureDMD Pinball X plug-in continue to show the "stats, etc" after launching MAME, or anything else that is not FP related, instead of having just a blank DMD when playing non Pinball games in my cab.

Also is it possible to have futureDMD show my own videos or pictures? I was thinking about having some custom videos or pics (formatted for DMD) run through FutureDMD outside of Pinball X.

Thanks.

If you ever find out how to add your own static image or a small looping video on the 3rd screen let me know. I am also researching this.
