Hey Noah, did you get chance to take those measurements yet?

Sorry to hassle you but if it's a bit of a deal breaker if it won't fit in my cab.

Cheers man :drinks:

On the VirtuaPin, it extends into the cab 7-1/8" and is 1-1/8" in diameter.

will this work with future pinball?

Yes, the docs that come with the new board/plunger show how to set it up with FP.

Special question: Does it also work with FP under non-english Windows OS ? (Mot-Ion/PBW plunger+motion sensor cannot be configured on German W7x64 with FP, only with VP)

 Using Win7 x64, VP 9.9.1 & VP Physmod5 & VP10, unified PinMAME 2.23, PinballX 2.12, PinDMD V2 (Real DMD), I-PAC2 button controller, Ledwiz with DOF R2, Nanotech Plunger

I honestly can't answer that question myself. I'm not sure why the Nanotech kit didn't work.

Hopefully someone on that side of the earth will let us know!

Noah, do you have any tips on getting the nudge to work correctly?  It only seems to nudge consistently in one direction.  If i tap the side of the cab very lightly it will usually nudge both left and right, but if I nudge harder, like a normal nudge it only seems to go in one direction.  I've tried mounting it different ways and directions; the first being under the apron as described in the guide.  I've also tried different combinations of settings in visual pinball, 500% sensitivity, normal mounting on and off etc.

cheers

How does the crosshair appear to nudge in the Game Controllers calibration screen?

If it nudges in the correct direction for each nudge of the cabinet, then we'll focus on software being the culprit.

That's an FP problem I believe. Manual rolling only works with English as well.

If I'm not mistaken, the Nanotech kit is hard-coded into FP. If other controllers work, the VirtuaPin controller should, as well.

Yes you are correct, but I think there is a problem with analogue controllers and non english xp.

I could be wrong though.

the nudge seems okay and quite even between a left and right nudge in the calibration screen

is there a way to align the x axis off centre? so the weak push i have to one side can be compensated for?

Well, that pretty much defeats the purpose of a new kit. The idea is that you no longer have to calibrate.

It seems really odd to me that this is happening. In all my tests and in new cabinets, they've worked flawlessly.

Can you detach the box from your cab and test the nudge in both directions? I'd like to ensure you even have the potential to nudge in both directions.

This issue defies all logic, unless it's a software issue, or maybe some nudge settings changes you've made in the core.vbs?

It does nudge in both directions but just not evenly in visual pinball or future pinball. I've made no changes to core.vbs Sent from my Nexus 4 using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2

Got my kit installed, fit right in where the nanotech plunger was with out issue. When I look at the properties for the controller all the buttons and plunger register key presses, however when I play a table there is no corresponding actions for the buttons. I'm sure there is something somewhere I need to set to see this new controller vs. the nanotech, just can't remember what that is. Anyone know where I need to go to get this controller to work?

Thanks

T

You just need an updated version of VP with VirtuaPin plunger support.

Noah, that was it. I  had the other 9.1.5 installed. Love the faster response times. Seems the nanotech was sluggish in comparison.

Sorry for the lateness of this update, real life got pretty "real" the past week. :(

On the plus side I finally got the nudging kit working as it should and its pretty impressive. The auto calibration seems to work as advertised. Although I had to set the sensitivity in the keys section of VP to a higher number (presently testing at 400) the nudging effect really works well! In my cabinet, I had to go with the recommended setting: upside down as close to the lockbar as possible with the USB cable to the left. Once I did that and deselected the "normal mounting" option, she seemed to work better.

The only issue remaining: tilting does not seem to work. Noah: is there something I need to add to the table script or can you provide an example of what the vp setting for tilting does? Ie: does that default number refer to the sensitivity nudging number?

As for the plunger, I had an issue with my current mounting plate where with the tube installed, the holes no longer matched (due to the present hole in my cabinet). I basterdized the mounting plate and it now fits perfectly and it works fine. Every now and then, on first touching of it (even of I've "calibrated" it beforehand) it tends to react as if I have palmed the plunger, but only on first contact in a game. This may be because I had adjusted the plunger location and settings on many of the tables due to the differences with the nanotech plunger, so its something I have t investigate further.

Really happy, more testing to come.

The same thing happens with mine too, I haven't adjusted the plungers on any of my tables

I think that's a park position adjustment. I'll look into it.

Jadflat, did you work out your nudge concerns?

sadly no, I've tried re-mounting it a few more times, installed different versions of visual pinball, 9.15 and a couple of 9.16 betas, still the same thing, I can't work it out

Even though you can run the kit with no dead zone, give it a try. Somewhere in the 5-8 range. My theory is maybe it's catching a bit of one direction before registering the desired direction.
