hmmm I wonder:

You have 2 video cards that have 2 outputs on each. In my case I have:

1 x GTX560TI - which I use to run the Playfield and Backglass - ie \\DISPLAY1 and \\DISPLAY2
2 x GTX260 - which I use to run DMD ie \\DISPLAY3 but then I have an unused port which would be \\DISPLAY4

so FD and Blade - I think you both mentioned you're running DMD and Backglass on one card and PF on another so:

Card1 - Dual ports. Playfield = \\DISPLAY1 Unused = \\DISPLAY2
Card2 - Dual Ports. DMD = \\DISPLAY3 Backglass = \\DISPLAY4

Maybe when you are telling it to go to the Backglass it's registering as \\DISPLAY4 which is why I'm not noticing the problem.

So maybe you could try changing switching the backglass and DMD ports around - then Backglass would be \\DISPLAY3....

Rosve - not sure how hard this is, but is it possible to change the .exe to allow for a "number 4" option when selecting monitor which maps to \\DISPLAY4?

On a side note - should I even be running Playfield and Backglass on the same card - what is the recommended way for best performance?

Thanks,
Mick

You are probably right Mick. I can't test this as my laptop and pincab both have only 1 graphics card.
I think that most people with dual screen cabs run pf and bg on the same card.

The B2S is actually selecting Display4 to run on witch should be the second port on the second card, so it should work.
If you set the the display number to 1 in the screenres file, the backglass should show up on the playfield monitor(display1).
If not there must be something else that is causing this.

Hey FD (and Blade),
It looks like the Monitor identifier used by Windows (when you click Identify and the big !, 2, 3 comes up) doesn't actually match the internal device's port number (ie \\Display 1 etc).

If you feel like taking a gamble:

Swap your two ports over between backglass and DMD (I think they're on the same card) then open the windows display properties - the identifiers will now be different and the display order of the 3 monitors may be different now too so you would need to drag/drop/rearrange them to how they were originally.

Now your \\DISPLAY3 would be DMD and \\DISPLAY4 would be Backglass.

Update your screenres.txt file to set your monitor id to "3"

Try double-clicking the B2S exe and see if it appears on your backglass.

Of course if it does work you would then need to go back and change Hyperpin settings and FP settings to point to the new DISPLAY value for the backglass...

Thanks,
Mick

rosve .. display 3 didn't work.
I've attached screenshots.
Starting the .exe manually seems to start well .. only nothing displayed on 2nd screen.
Only thing 'different' is that there's something extra active after starting up the Table (Alt TAB to see it).

Put all screens to 32-bit did not help either.

mikef .. changing cables is momentarily no option.

Cheers,
FD.

The "ScaredStiff(1.5)" is the pinmame window. Nothing strange.

I am pretty sure that the B2S window is started and running only offset outside the the visible area. Try to move the bg sideways by changing the Xpos parameter in screenres.

I have a feeling that the the second card uses a different origin point.

something like this:
0
0
1920
1080
3
-1920 (or 3840)
0

fd and blade, you could both try to run backglass from second port on main gpu

then you should be fine with number 2 in config

Blur. I don't beleive anyone answered a question I posted earlier.
If I upgreade to the latest FP launch, will my escape key still work on my ipac or will I have to reprogram to the e key?

Hi Arcade4,
I'm pretty sure you need to program a button on your ipac to 'e' and also setup the escape key in Hyperpin settings key to 'e' also in order for the pause/escape keys to work correctly in the new FPLaunch.

Thanks,

Mick

i got mine to work but your never going to believe this

1st off the ports are correct and so is the res file the backglass IS there on the 2nd screen but it just doesn't want to show itself.

1st i changed the bg to screen 1 and loaded the table to see if would even show up and this is what happened

so i thought ok i'll try changing the colours of my desktop so i can see that blackbox better on the 2nd screen to see if it even is there.

what happened next made me speechless the damn thing showed up! i couldn't believe it the reason why it wont show up is because of the high contract black color scheme!!

sure enough when i set the color back to high contrast

it vanished!

so the bg is there it just doesn't want to show itself...any ideas?

Yes, I know whats happening. All the images in B2S are drawn on the Background layer of the windows form. The High contrast theme overwrites anything on the background with solid black.

The theme service is one of the services that I disabled on my cab.
It is one of those not needed services that consumes cpu power in the background.

Great findings bladexdsl!!

Tried the same this morning & all is working as it should now! .. besides the fact that the Spider is not turning around but that's minor stuff! wink.gif
Simply changed the 'color' scheme of my PF Monitor (screen 1) and the BG appeared on the 3rd screen (DMD) .. so adjusted the ScreenRes file to point to the 2nd screen and all was solved! Amazing but true!! smile.gif

Thanks all for your input to tackle this issue! wink.gif

Cheers,
FD.

ps. You can use 'spaces' when changing the actual file-names of the .vpt and .exe wink.gif

how do i disable the theme service? i can get this to run but i can see the stupid windows logo on my dmd tongue.gif

i'm also now convinced my m/b is not acceptable since the ball stutter on this was off the scale!
