I think I will install Oculus software on my main Vpin rig.  I just want another way to play VR pinball and my main rig is the most updated.  With Oculus Quest Link cable, I will test tomorrow (I think it might be awesome).

I tried the Oculus Quest link yesterday and again today.  It really does work pretty darn well but I sold my Rift S so I don't recall how it looks compared to the Rift S.  Hopefully you can chime in on the comparison.  Compared to the index it is pretty bad.  While the Index costs more, it has a much clearer picture, much better audio, more precise tracking and it is much more comfortable than the Quest.  I'll probably never connect the Quest to my PC again but it was a fun test and I can confirm it works with VPXVR!

I also played Steam VR Beat Saber on the Quest with the Link cable since that game requires extremely low latency when playing on expert and expert plus and there was no noticeable lag.  If it can do that, Pinball should be easy  :)

I tried changing the supersampling in some games and it does not seem to make any difference at all.  I tried .8 all the way to 1.8 and didn't see any change.  On my old Rift CV1 or on my index this would be a drastic change so it seems SS does not work. Maybe that is a limitation of Link

Many valid points, I love how others care about this stuff (Great Job).  I don't have the index, but I have been playing with this stuff for many years.

Very funny as a friend came over today who I talked into getting a Oculus Quest.  He has a decent lenovo laptop that I didn't think would run vr at all.  I updated everything and tried, nothing.  I decided to try Virtual Desk, and bingo it worked.  That is some funny shit as a wireless connection as my location worked 1st time of wifi and cable didn't. I know its beta but you kinda have to laugh.  So I got him into steam, sorry dude.

I still have to try recent VPX.vr with latency with a high speed camera ( my new cell is not that bad, I will have to try).  Everyone into this needs also to follow the Browser thread, as it might be incredible in certain instances (nevermind)

I love vr and pinball and VPX, tough to rate them :)

Strange, it makes quite a big difference on mine.  TOTAN's ramps become much clearer.

I had multiple people on multiple sites all also say that Oculus Link for Oculus quest is set at a particular resolution and bitrate in the software and currently it cant be changed. My testing also seemed to show that was the case.

I have not been able to locate an official document from oculus about super sampling however.

Are you sure it is really working? If so, tru to change your SS to 2.5 or so and see what that does. If it is working then the picture should look amazing but at a super low frame rate like 3FPS.

When I increase it to 1.5 the clarity improves very noticeably, but it increases judder when I move around.    It's not a subtle change.

Of course link has well described quality limitations in order to fit its bandwidth constraints, so your'e probably not going to see "amazing" from extremely high values, as you would from a Rift-S.

I have that too with my Rift S, if i go too high, atually the best way to test it, is to get a multiball, that screws it up if you have your settings too high...it's an easy measure, well depending on the table ofcours! i don't know how it it with the Quest, but make sure you're not "double" supersampling, it might be that the quest software is already doing standard or something...

Quick question,  does the real Flintstones pinball cabinet use a double contact leaf switch for the right flipper?   For example, can you normally control the upper right flipper separately or does it always fire both the bottom right flipper and upper right flipper together?

Dual action optical switches yes, I believe all williams tables with upper flippers have them.

Leaf switches suck in that if you slam them a bit harder they bounce and sparkle affecting the flipping power. Modern optical switches don't have this issue. I use diy optical dual action switches in my v-cabinets too.

This may be a dead issue for most of you since I'm not hearing anyone with this problem, but when I launch my tables with Capture External DMD checked, it often crashes my VPVR. I can run without capturing the DMD just fine and in most cases I can check Capture PUP and that works too.

Is there a version of Freezy's DMD that works for all? And does this sound like a Freezy DMD issue? I am currently running with v1.7.3. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

All it does is look for the DMD window and capture it if it exists, if you have a problem with Freezy then you will have a problem regardless if the Capture option is on or off so try playing with it the option off but toggle Freezys and you can test for yourself if it's Freezys causing the crashes.

Has anyone come up with a front end solution in VR? It would be great to change tables without exiting VR.

Nothing breaks immersion like having to balance the rig on your head so you can see your computer screen.

How often do you guys change tables? When I start a table I play it for the next hour, at least. So a frontend isnt neccessary for me. A front end always ties a lot of ressources. And I need everything my rig has to give.

I ordered dual contact leaf switches for the PinSim I’m about to build so I’d love to hear more about how you got them working on those games.  I’ve read the two threads I could find on the subject already (one here and one on vpinall) but they are a year and a half old and I’m not sure if anything newer has been baked into the scripts to support this.  In fact it sounds like rothbaurw may have added native support to Tee’d Off, so that might be a good table script for me to start with.

I recently bought Stern Iron Maiden and Jurassic Park machines, both which have upper flippers and dual contact switches, and have been working on my staging skills.  Would love to be able to translate that into VPX as well!

Like I mentioned before, I had a LOT of help.   I'm pretty new to this but I know just enough to help you get yours working the same as mine.

I ended up adding a IPAC to my Pinsim so could have a button box inside.  Here is a picture of it.   https://imgur.com/a/MZ5UemX

As you can see in the picture, this gives me volume controls for windows and VR table height UP and Down buttons on the front of the box. On the top of the box I have the 4 service buttons for entering and changing the ROM configurations.  These are mapped to keys 7,8,9,0.   In addition to that I have a button for Slam Tilt (home) and open coin door (End).  This iPac also lets me add many more buttons in the future if desired (two more used below).

IN VPMkeys VBS you will find the optional keys.

' Optional keys
' These are not used nor handled by the vbs files
' They are only here to provide consistent keys for the games.
'
keyUpperLeft     = 30  '(A)    Upper Left Flipper button
keyUpperRight    = 40  '(')    Upper Right Flipper button
keyFront         = 3   '(2)    Front button (e.g. buy-in)
keyRules         = 19  '®    Show rules
keyJoyUp         = 200 '(Up arrow)
keyJoyDown       = 208 '(Down arrow)
keyJoyLeft       = 203 '(Left arrow)
keyJoyRight      = 205 '(Right arrow)
keyFire1         = 29  '(Left CTRL)
keyFire2         = 184 '(Right Alt)
keyGameSpecific1 = 16  '(Q)
keyGameSpecific2 = 17  '(W)
keyGameSpecific3 = 18  '(E)
keyGameSpecific4 = 19  '®

As you can see above, keyboard key (A) is for upper left flipper and key (') "apostrophe" is for upper right flipper.  to get these to work on my cabinet I just wired the second contact on my Pinsim to these keys on the iPAC in addition to leaving them wired up to the Pinsim Board.  As far as i can tell, VPX does not support the analog buttons on a xbox gampad and that is what the second contact mapped to on Pinsim.  That works great for FX2 and FX3 though!

So here is what you can do right now:
1. Open the tee'd off script and enable dual contact leaf switches mode.
2. When you play the table you should find that the upper flipper no longer works with your flipper button.   Press the apostrophe key on your keyboard and you can operate it.
3. Get an ipac and wire the second contact of your leaf switches to this board in addition to the pinsim board and you are done.

Once you have that much working you just need to make some edits to the other tables to get them working as well.

Which headset are you using for VR?  I'm really happy with how my setup is working now.  I have the index which has speakers that hover over you ears rather than blocking your ear from hearing sounds outside of the headset.   I'm using SSF and have the table sounds (speakers on the cabinet) and the force feedback (buttkicker Gamer 2) coming out of the tables.   I use https://audioalter.com/ to edit the table sounds so that the force feedback feels perfect to me per sound and the results are pretty great. They have an EQ to edit the sound clips or you can just use the bass booster if you need more force feedback.  This setup is using a separate USB sound card inside the pinsim so that only the table sounds / Force Feedback come out of the table and the ROM sounds and music etc come out of the VR headset.
