Could you re-link the issue to your problem ? I don't want to scroll through 55 pages of reported issues to search for your reported issue @pin-pete

I can't recall having issues with speakeasy, so, maybe I'm able to help you ?

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

So, please verify the theory with this build here. Thanks!

so 5224 i guess revision?
what was the issue?

have not got to test yet, but guessing i will get same results as thalamus
since we have seen the same thing so far

Not commited yet, first waiting for your test results, too. (could still be something else in addition from that commit back then!)

Issue: I tried some low level setting of system timer precision (increasing resolution from 1ms to 0.5ms), which is a bit on the unofficial side though. Seems like there is a reason this is not part of the public windows API though.  ;)

So you put a 426 hemi in an A body, and twisted the sub frame?

Strange issue with this version, that has nothing to do with the issue at hand but.

You can not properly change the ROM volume via F12, for roms with no in house audio control

no matter what you set it to, like you type in -6
then hit enter, then F3
and look, and the value is set to 4294967292 (or fffffffc in hex)

but that seems to make no difference in the volume

0 is 0 all the way around

-1 is 4294967295

-2 is 4294967294

-9 is 4294967286

-32 comes out as 4294967264 which is Hex FFFFFFE0

Well the hex part is right, as signed 32bit

Hex FFFFFFE0

is binary 11111111111111111111111111100000

which is decimal -32

Windows does not do negative decimals in registry keys though, only in string keys

and VPinMAME is not reading the hex value and converting to decimal on it's own
it seems to literally reading the decimal value of the registry key? Which is not good for anything.
And also which results in no volume control since 4294967286 is not a valid dB reduction value and you can not go higher than 0 dB
(thankfully cause +4 billion dB would have killed my ears)

But, i am not all Tod und Untergang!
I bring glad tidings

BLACK HOLE WORKS!
As in votrax does not get obliterated at game over
in fact, i can actually hear the game over sound that i could never hear before, ever!

so if the volume thing would be a minor fix in translating the hex back to proper volume values
Or what ever slight malfunction it is having, with out killing black hole, and with out losing the distortion fix

Oh yea, the distortion thing, 30 table bounces, no sound issues yet

WTF to both of your new findings.. ?!? :)

And Ra looked out from the Duat upon the land, and saw pinmame
and saw that it was good, and Lo, Ra did see that vile one Apophis, also known as Black Hole, and he did see him smote the goodness of pinmame

And so Ra, mounting his fiery chariot road out from the sun, and cast Apophis back into the abyss, beyond the door of night.

But Ra, in his infinite wisdom, seeing that if all was perfect need and worship of him would wane and he would fade into the duat for all time
struck pinmame with the inability to read volume settings for a time.

That is my story and i am sticking to it.

VPinmame.dll version that works on black hole even, but volume is borked

fObWe5T.png

VPinmame.dll  beta build from 11/2/2020 (and yes the non working builds from last night also worked properly volume setting wise)

Well, that was that time you ran to the Greeks, and changed your name
like that would hide you? I mean, the crocodile disguise did not work.

And, there is that thing you have done every day, for the last 14,000 years.
I mean, can not even have morning bread and honey, cause bloody hell, here comes Apophis making a mess again.

Can't even get a good night's sleep.
Park the sun in the garage, lock it, and sure enough, just about to doze off and someone is breaking into the garage.
Bloody hell, it's Apophis
Again
Same as last night
Trying to eat the damned sun

I’m just misunderstood. Am I really the ONLY one that thinks the Sun looks like a warm biscuit?

Um, no idea, those are not exactly on my shopping list.

I did find some food in the back of the fridge that might be mind altering, if you make it beyond the smell

I'm not done yet, given the new insights from wiesshund.  :/

Seems like there might be some uninitalized memory or stack corruption dangling somewhere.  :/

Thankfully it was much simpler (i.e. my own fault).. Thanks again wiesshund for catching that volume setting regression!

apophis pointed that out some posts ago.. (also thanks for that, its great to have all you guys as QA!!!!)

New build is up in the first post:

Make Williams Flash L-1 and T-1 use the Sys6 board (as these are newer than the yellow flipper based L-2)

Fix recent regressions: Sound distortion; F6 sound dump not working properly; Inputs in VPM config windows always shown as unsigned value

Please verify.. Thanks!!
