its crazy...ever since i changed it had no issues..played about 20 games without it cutting out once. Also kept it on for about 30 minutes and came back and still on!!!....ahhh i can breath..didn't want to RMA that badboy seeing the shortage of DMD's and lead times

i know..i couldnt believe it.....it was the first thing i checked (not well enough i guess) crazy...played a ton of games without it cutting out
i DID NOT want to RMA that sucker!!

i still don't get how dodgy fuse causes the display to cut out lol, was it acting like a resistor or some thing and really limiting the current or was barley making contact??

very very strange lol

I spoke too soon.....crazy played few games when i got home got halfway through Jokers it started again....More investigating

dint think it was the fuse lol, cant think what would cause the display to keep cutting out though??

Would a dry solder joint on the Vishay DMD do it russ? Or the power supply cutting in and out on overload?

trying a different power supply was my first suggestion.

does sound like a power issue though

these are brand new displays there shouldn't be any dry joints hehe

You guys will want to check out some software written by BBB over at hyperpin. Works real well with pindmd.

i had an extra new power supply so i just wired it up to just the dmd......picture seemed brighter and did not cut out....so Russ you were probably right about power. I will try it again tonight for awhile.

im not sure how much current you can suck from a normal pc psu 5v some might be different and not offer much on the 5v.

it deffo seams to be power supply related as another members display did the exact same thing but on animations with most of the display lit, it just flashed just like urs

hope new psu solves the problem

ooo next 100 batch has arrived
tested ONE (well programmed it haven't got a display at work to test that part but im sure its ok) and it works lol, will program / test the rest properly when i get home on friday

currently have preOrders for 49 of them so that's 51 left!!

will send out invoices Friday night once i have confirmed they all work ok

Russ....my dmd seems to be working with the new psu..yeah....have a question...when i usually start it up the PinDMD V2 appears on my dmd...no biggie.....when i fired it up last night it showed the hyperpin dmd.txt logo...i thought that was weird..because it usually is your PinDMD V2 logo...just wondering

looks like ur usb has not killed the power completely when you turned off your computer and the pinDMD has been alive the whole time.

the pinDMD does not store any frame data in flash memory so when it loses power it will be reset and go back to the pinDMD logo, the only way it can do what you have explained is if it has been turned on the whole time

some usb suspends still actually keep the usb alive (i think that is what has happened here)

its turned off..i have a seperate psu im using now just for the dmd..and i have to turn it on before i turn my cab on. That is the only thing i have wired seperately. I have all my plugs into one smart strip except for the dmd.
I unplug everytime so i know power was off..unless it held stored some power

weird lol the board does not store any frame data hehe so it must of been kept alive slightly some how to still be displaying that image
