I really wish MAMEDev would add PinMAME into their builds. Funny thing is they using Pinball drivers in MAME. But not to use for anything. Just the DMD to look at. lol

they Have pinmame in their builds

What they dont have, is support for most of the tables, nor do i see it coming in your lifetime
they do not have much interest presently in pursuing emulation of mechanicals

Also, what they do not have, is a crap load of optimization that pinmame has for dealing with pinball machines
And MAME also does not have as good a Votrax emulation if you ask me

It's just not their focus, as they have so much other things to do, especially nowadays as they tackle all kinds of home computers and even things like toys. And after all there is PinMAME, exactly for this purpose of being what it is.

Nevertheless, i guess at some point in the far future there will be a merger, similar to what happened with MESS, latest when i retire at some point and have more spare time for such an effort.  ;)  ;)

As for your remarks that 64bit could help parallelism: Both VPX and (V)PM are already multi-threaded in some parts, and this is also no exclusive 64bit feature, the same mechanisms exist also for 32bit apps without many (or even any??) restrictions.

Mentioning far future and retirement in the same sentence. Do I dare to ask, when do you retire ? And, do you think at that point, Spike1 emlation would be something you could have time or want to take a closer look at ?

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

I thought we could not, or did not do spike 1 and 2 emulation due to them being too recent, creating copyright issues and such?

Cause there is a spike1 and 2 emulator around, but it runs in linux
so i would not have any idea how to get it connected to VPX

It's good for dumping the videos and DMD frames from the ROMs though

This was obviously a joke.. My job retirement is at least 2 decades away..  ;)

You mean the prototype that JayFoxRox did? or is there something else by now?

New beta build is up in the first post:

Updated LISY support to 5.26-41 (Linux for Gottlieb System1 & System80, Bally, Atari, Williams and 'HOme' Pinballs)

Added VGM file output support for QSound

Improve DMD timings for the Williams/Bally machines, leading to less flicker/wrong brightness on the early ones (e.g. T2 attract mode)

Got Goofy Hoops working when some schematics showed up, illustrating how useful such documents are!

New Games:

Christian Tabart: Grand 8, Le (using Gottlieb "Panthera" ROM, and its own sound board)
Illinois Pinball: Pool Player 1.0 (based on Capcom hardware/similar to Breakshot)

Sonic: Storm
Williams/Jess Askey: Spellbinder

Clones:

Ator (2 bumpers)
Big Game (MOD rev. 8)
Cheetah (Blue cabinet Bonus shot 1/ball)

Dragonfist (MOD 3 rev. 1109)
Flight 2000 (modified rules + sound rev. 3347)
Jurassic Park 3.05 (misses the matching display ROM though)
Meteor (Bonus Count Fix, MOD, Free Play rev. 65)
Meteor (Bonus Count Fix, MOD, 7-Digit, Free Play rev. 75)
Pin-Bot J-1 (PEMBOT (no relation))
Strange Science rev. C (which makes this the newest we have :))
WHO Dunnit 1.2 (Elevator text fix), 1.2 (German Sound / Elevator text fix)

VPM:

Add Data East alphanumeric support to the builtin alternate sound file support (Sound Mode 1)
(only briefly tested though, please report non-working machines)

So now we need some volunteers to create the new games, especially interesting would be Goofy Hoops and Spellbinder (for the latter contact me please, i got some resources from Jess Askey!).

Yes, this was Jess Askey also.  :)

But he does not find the table anymore, and it was also just more or less a modded Hyperball.

But the resources i have if somebody wants them.

Looks like the automatic altsound dump feature (F6) in Pinmame32 sound command mode is not working in the latest build. Was working before.

in last VPM beta, i am hearing a lot of sound corruption/distortion in existing tables that had non before.

Firepower is one example

Heavy Metal, which is a Taito controller is another

rolling back to the 11/2/2020 build returns things to normal, with no other changes.
not sure if that can be resolved with a setting or has to be a code fix

I haven't gone back and tried many revisions. But, I've began to notice more distortions from previous Carny build. Unfortunately, it seems to me to be a bit random. I can get distortion and of course I then abort and start the game all over without being able to re-produce. However. Before, maybe, your date ( I expect you've tested more versions ), it is far (months of gameplay) between these oddities.

Could be due to the increased amount of forceinline..  :/

Will post a testbuild again soon without that..

Ok, will test after it goes up.

So far firepower seems seems to be a very good rom to test this with
as there is nothing subtle about it, it is instant un-ignorable distortion the moment the rom begins to make any sound at all

unfortunately i cannot repro (or my ears are already too old ;)), so please test these 3 builds (rename to vpinmame.dll) and let me know which ones work better/do not show the issue.
