You can distribute an already converted version of bad cats if you like.
I built that one and I'd love to see exactly how you tweaked it in unity

Amazing progress on this project. Seeing as how this is looking to be the future of virtual pinball I got a few questions.
Is vpinmame still going to be part of united pinball?
When building tables, will the table building editor be the same as future pinball?
How hard will it be to convert future pinball tables to united pinball?
Thanks for all your hard work!
Zoltar

What do you mean with "part of pinball unit3D"? We will provide the custom version of vpinmame's dll, but the rest is compatible.
Yes, for now, we only import from FP. The script need to be rewritten though.
The conversion difficulty depends on many factors. The easiest way is to make a "mix" between FP script (for elements movments, etc...) and VP scritps of corresponding table, specially for tables using VPM (major part of tables...). Of course, if you want to rewrit ethe full FP script in C#, it will be far longer... but possible!

The release will come with some exemples and instructions for some table conversions (Addams familly, Scared Stiff, Bad Cats, Black Night, Doctor Dude and terminator 2).
This should give you a cleaner vison of work to convert tables.

And there is always ways to improve tables!

Thank you for encouragments...

Will the VrtuaPin plunger be compatible with this? http://virtuapin.net...products_id=105

Yes i think so because it seems to be interfaced like a regular windows joystick. BTW, parts seems really close to mine, but I will include nudge ;).

The VirtuaPin plunger already includes nudge ;).

competing products are never a bad thing...

I haven't been following this project since the beginning, but it sounds (and looks) really cool.

Is there any chance this will support a true multi-monitor mode?  I'm dreaming of people being able to create their own original tables with full, Wizard of Oz style animated backglasses displayed on the backglass monitor of a cabinet (or a secondary monitor on a desktop).

Not sure if anyone has posted this already, but since it works with Unity, I thought I would post it here.

Extremely cool new technology called "CastAR" that kind of works like BAM only it uses tiny projectors and a highly directional grey material to do some amazing 3d.

Just stumbled on this last night and the Kickstarter is already funded.

Fist link is an interview with the developers. Second is the Kickstarter.

Hi. I saw it a week ago and I was about to pledge for it...

For pinball users, let's say that a cabinet could be done using the sheet and thus reducing the cost of a big tv screen + backlite display to approx 350$, and adding head traking + stereo vision.

You can imagine a disposable sheet and thus... KEEP A REAL PINBALL UNDER !!!

I will pledge and make it compatible with PU3D ;).

Thanks for sharing!

I was kind of disappointed. I can see that the use it for board games and I guess thats fine. But the image and contrast does not look good at all? Is that just the recording?

Well first this is a prototype. Contrast looks quite poor indeed, but it seems to be better with the special reflective sheet when you wear glasses. Moreover, you can close windows un you pinball room ;). But the resolution (720p) is quit egood for this kind of device and tracking is embeded and performant...

I just baked. This is a long shot because the first products are scheduled for september 2014. Still have time to get more infos, don't worry!

I thought it was cool. Biggest problem I can see for pinball is that it projects horizontally and not vertical.
So if you spread a sheet of reflective paper on top your pinball you would only see so much at once.

The paper only reflects the image being projected on it from the glasses.

There is no way it can project that tall of a vertical image from where you would be standing.

At least thats how I see it. :)

Hi guys. "Long" time without updates, just because I am working on shaders and it takes a lot work. Here is a high res screen shot of current state (without optimization):

addams.png

I added a light in the back of the table, inspired from the GOLD version...

I tested shadows but for now, it is too time consuming and it needs optimization.

I hope to make some high res video soon...

WOW, that looks very impressive !

A pre-alpha release would be awesome. (hint hint ;) )

Seriously; I really look forward to the first release!

(only the gameroom looks rubbish compared to the playable table; a dark game room would look much better imo)

Hey Bilbox , Can the original FP DMD still be used for original tables?  Seems like a silly question and sorry if it's been mentioned.

Wow that pic looks amazing!  :otvclap:  :dblthumb:

How does unity3d work?  Will the tables be their own .exe or will it be like futurepin and virtualpin where the tables are seperate from the actual program.  Will table builders need unity3d with license to create tables?

I agree. I just forgot to remove it.

Nop. FP script is fully replaced. Moreover, this DMD, linked to VPM, is a mod of the FP table.

We designed the tool to be compatible with fpt table (major feature, read full topic please ;)): we code it such as only us need Unity Pro.

For final releases, it will be like FP/VP: PU3D.exe + a dir with either .fpt or .put (our format) + additionnal files like Script.cs, etc...

But we planed to make an exe per table for the first demos... need to discuss it yet with Louizou.

Oh, that is a shame! I knew the script was being replaced with c# and had a feeling that you would have to have some way of using the original FP DMD.

Well, onto replacements then. Hyperdmd can be used with VB & as standalone, but on a VP table I was making it didn't cope too well.

Gutted!

I maybe did not understood your question. There is some "basis" for DMD generation. DMD is a "texture" which you can update in C# in our CURRENT implementation.

TBH, we did not focused YET on original table, neither on how DMD animations are handled in FP. => TODO list.

But I have to say that for now it is far down in this todo list... except of course if a large number of people needs it right away... which I really doubt for now.

And there is so much other work to do! Sorry :S..

No problem, it's good you leave some hope of it being implemented one day.

I did start to learn C# , so by the time I've learnt that and rebuilt table & models, it might be here :)

Leads me to one other question about models & animation if you don't mind. Are they going to work the same way, FPM milkshape models? Movement is scripted as before and can use the option of animation in the form of a drop target? Or as it's being made in Unity is there more freedom with animation than with FP?
