I would have preferred to attach files directly here, but the size limit prevents me from doing so.

Thanks Kiwi ;)

For me revs 2806 to 2820 : no stutter, Scared Stiff and Medieval Madness X run smoothly :)

Rev2859 : stutters are back.

I have replaced vpinballx.exe only not VBS scripts, and didn't change any nVidia or VPX settings.

In that revision range, only the new maximum pre-rendered frames setting should've caused this.

So please try to add a registry key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Visual Pinball\VP10\Player  :

EnableLegacyMaximumPreRenderedFrames as a DWORD with value 1

Please let me know what happens when doing that..

At first it looked like that fixed the issue for me, so i figured i would remove the key to see if the stuttering would come back. It did not, i am unable to replicate the stuttering in any version above rev2806, they're all smooth now.

During the testing 2 days ago we rebooted the computer as well to make sure it wasn't just a silly random issue but the stuttering persisted, so it's quite weird that it would be perfectly smooth now.

The only thing that has changed between then and now is that i updated windows 10 with the KB3201845 update. Though it seems very unlikely it has anything to do with it.

Let me know if you'd like to know anything else.

I haven't noticed a difference in performance between rev 2806 and rev2859 - on two tables I tested it with.

Just installed AMD drivers v16.50.2001 (latest) and i noticed that on different pinball tables the rails appear messed with background graphics in Play (F5) but appear fine in Camera/Light mode (F6)

If i disable Static Rendering on the rails they also appear fine in Play (F5)

Currently using rev2869 but the problem also appeared in previous versions. A bug with latest AMD drivers or VPX?

I know we discussed this a bit privately and fuzzel helped me reach the understanding that VP's scale is all based around the ball size (50 vp units) and I know it's not something likely to happen over night but I really would like to encourage some real world measurements for scale.  I'm in North America but I'd be fine dealing with cm as opposed to the arbitrary vp units.  Ideally it would be nice if we could choose a unit of measurement that all properly correspond to other units of measurements but I'll be happy with any real world measurement really.   I just feel if we had a standard unit of measurement then I could actually go about standardising all the basic prim parts to be real world scale (with near perfection).  For example a standard black post is just under 3cm in real life but when you import the prim that most people use for a post it's quite a bit too small in comparison to the VP table and has to be scaled to match and I've noticed not everyone is using the same post and they aren't all the exact same size.  These days I'm trying to make prims be at the size you would want them on the table at a xyz scale of 1,1,1 in the editor, meaning the primitive to VP ratio is 1:1.  It would just be much more intuitive for authors to start referencing scale/measurements if they can count on standard table parts being the right size all the time.  So again I'd just like to reiterate that I don't expect to see this over night or really any time soon, I would just like to see this on the list of 'long-term things to get done'.

If you have sound issues please try to set the sound devices again (for sound effects and backglass specific) in Preferences->Audio Options, and restart VPX.

Is this for all tables or just special ones? I can't reproduce that here.

Hadn't messed with vp in a little while, got the 2866 version of 10.2, and while I did get the sound to work (not sure what I did), I do see what looks like a volume bar at the bottom of the DT screen that appears with each and every keypress. It disappears after a couple seconds but the fact it appears with every keystroke is annoying.

Take Care

2866 had a bug in the key handling routine. The newest version is 2869 that fixes that.

i had exactly the same prob

and i'm sure it's why i've got sound problems now

anyone know what 's that volume bar at the bottom and how to  put volume up ??

thanks

EDIT : ok guys   i've fixed sound problem

it's due to that "volume bar" at the bottom

i 've understood  why it had no sound anymore :

with the new update,  when i was using flippers, it was putting down" the volume on that " volume bar" in the bottom

if anyone got that prob, just  press ° key  ( the one just on right of number 0 )

hope it helps

sorry for my english !

Do you still have this problem with rev 2869? I mean that the volume bar showing up when you press the flipper buttons?

I thought I made a post about this a while back, but I can't find it. The new light.Duration script is not working correctly. The light behavior is very erratic when you try to use it.

Use +/- to increase the sound volume. For some strange reason the latest version turned sound volume to 0.

It seems to be an issue with the latest AMD drivers 16.12.1. I'm using an AMD card myself and I reverted back to 16.11.5 and the rendering problems disappeared.

rev2870 is up:

- yet another fix for the key handling... (hopefully once and for all :) )
