...as Russ mentions mine is the Vishay plasma which has a PSU built in. Only needs a 12 volt supply (which I'm using off a pc PSU) and it's good to go.

It wasn't cheap (more expensive that my pf monitor!) but hand on heart the combo of that and the PinDMD board it's probably the best thing I've bought for my cabinet.

Great work Russ, Snotz and the rest of PinDMD support dudes!

i have the 192x64 version which is a great bit of kit

having a list of none working games is a good idea, this way people could add to it and me and snotz can update the current status of the game. not sure the best way of doing this though? maybe some sort of public google doc? ill speak to snotz and we will sort some thing out

yup mine just has the standard 4pin molex on it, although the original connector foot print is still on the pcb but the connector has not been soldered on. i guess you could add it if u wanted?

/sigh ...wish I hadn't been so anxious back in February, buying the red LED got me my display, but it's defective and I'll be without it for 6-8 weeks while it's being sent back for repairs.

Now they're as rare as hen's teeth I can't even get my hands on one while mine's being repaired.

only ones available at the moment are the pinled's but not 100% sure how long they will last without blowing pixels although they do have years warranty so i guess u can always send them back for repair.

only thing is if you connect them to my boar d without powering them they WILL blow my board up and i really don't want a bunch of returns because of this fault so i really don't recommend them!!!!



me and my dad are really pushing forward with his plasma driver board. and hope to have it ready in a few months so people can use the ready available original plasma displays.

i cant beleave people are not restocking the led ones crazy!!!
also need to talk to stern and see where they get there displays from

I've got good news for everyone. I spoke to Future Electronics stating that I was one of the developers for the board and the woman said she heard from other customers about pinDMD... and her reply is this:

"Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today, I just got off the phone with my asset team and they are talking to the MFR to see if we can carry more stock."

So, there might be more stock coming in soon

spoke to stern and they say they can get the LED version of the dmd, part number 520-5052-15, i googled this and it did not return any results but the original display is 520-5052 so seams to be correct.

i would do it my self but i get stung with 20% import crap to the uk + customs charges and after all those extra costs its just not worth it


Make sure you ask for the LED version and not the original plasma

im not 100% sure but seeing as its a direct replacement of the original display it should! ill email them back tomorrow and try and get some more details about the display

the Stern 520-5052-15 LED Display board IS a direct replacement so im 99% sure it will work just fine with my board it also runs off 5v

I forgot to ask how much though doh
