Also some "raw" data, like music tracks, would be appreciated, if feasible.

If you have some cool recordings, maybe you could upload them in return, please?!  :)

Hmmm.. This is bad.. The command line thingie should only work with PinMAME though (i.e. NOT PinMAME32)..

just to confirm toxie in that the files you overwrite are in the  PinMAME32 folder?

I don't know if i understand.. Which PinMAME32 folder?

You just grab all the files as-is from the new zip in the 1st post, and copy them into the existing PinMAME folder on your disc.

And then you have a PinMAME32.exe (which features an UI), PinMAME.exe (command line only) and VPinMAME.dll (what is needed for VP8/9/X).

Toxie, seems an issue with pinmame32?

Also pinmame.exe is triggering false positives in virus scanners (but not pinmame32.exe)

But, pinmame32 you get this error
0HPE7r1.png

And the error links to a long defunt MS web page
comctrl32.dll on the PC is way newer than that, its windows 10 build 2004

Does it need an older version perhaps?
You can not pick a number of the menu options, like right click a rom and audit is greyed out, settings is greyed out etc.

This is easy to fix, it's simply a weird detection in the code.. will do this..

I've tried to DL the Aug 10, 2020 version on two different Win 10 machines and get "Failed - Virus Detected" on both and the file is automatically deleted.  I have tried to find a work around, but found none yet.  Thanks for all of your hard work!

Yea, same false positive
Have to create an exception for it, it's the 64bit exe it does not like.

@Toxie

Anyway to address this?
Tis a minor thing of course, and does not affect the running of VPX, though is somewhat annoying

See how the dialog is cut off?
Can not resize the window or anything either

Unfortunately there is nothing i can do about false positives. For final versions we could try to put stuff onto whitelists, but for betas its too much effort.

As for PinMAME32/high DPI: Yeah, that one is annoying, but nobody is really maintaining (or even using) PinMAME32 anymore, so very low on the todo list.

Never mind, i fixed it.
It was easy

I set display scaling to 50% did what i wanted to global settings, then set it back to 100.
Arent we using pinmame32? or are we just using the pinmame DLL's and calling up the 64bit DLL?

'Usually' everybody is using VPinMAME(64).dll, along maybe with setup.exe to configure things.

We as devs also use PinMAME.exe, and very rarely also the UI version (PinMAME32.exe).

I tried my Airborne Avenger table with the new sounds and it's definitely much closer.  There is an issue now. The gate closes almost immediately when it opens (hitting the 1 or 3 target opens it). Not sure if there is something that can be changed with the code or if the problem is only with the ROM.

OK, I reworked the coding for the gate and it seems to be working perfectly with the new build. I will release an update for Airborne Avenger.

Oops!  I assume this is just Windows 10 doing the usual freak out for no reason..detecting a virus that isn't a virus in the new beta posted in the first post. You'll need to turn off virus protection to get the zip to download completely.

Just tell it to allow the file

Windows 10 tells me, my own VBS,that i wrote in notepad, that does not do anything other than change 1 table, is a virus

Windows10 was removing the zip file..not giving me an option to choose what  to do with it. Supper nanny mode I guess, lol

No, you can get it back
Just have to go into the anti virus interface, go into the actions, then allow and restore the file

I would imagine so.

I can even make windows 10 AV flag my own table VBS as a virus just by pasting it into notepad and saving it

Sorry if this isn't in the right thread (not a beta/alpha issue) but I think it is somewhat related:

Everything worked fine yesterday (20201001)

Trojan:VBS/Mountsi.A!ml being detected by Defender:

VPX: 10.6.0.0

Symptom:

WPC.vbs error is displayed whenever a VPX table is launched that calls WPC.vbs:

Tables that do not use WPC.vbs seem to be fine.

It's weird that WPC.vbs is being flagged now (it's been around for awhile 20190122) must be the latest Defender def

Seems like another a false positive.

Yes. False positive is unfortunately quite common the the vp world. I recommend that you change anti-virus.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

About Windows 10 and the antivirus:

I have had trouble a few days now, the Windows Defender is not letting me run vbs files. Not all of them, sometime is the wpc.vbs, and sometimes is the controller.vbs. I know it is false positive, but adding the folder in the exclusion list doesn't help, and Defender ignore the exclusions folders and don't let me run any vpm table.

Since I have been dealing with windows since the 80's it didn't cost me much to reformat the C drive, install everything and test the tables again. And they worked fine for a few hours until Windows Defender got updated and again the vbs files became something terrible and had to be stopped. Exclusions still didn't work. So I updated to the latest 2004 version, and guess what... it didn't work either.

So instead of fighting Windows Defender, I simply installed Symantec SEP 14, since I have a license for it, and now I can play again. I guess any other free antivirus will do the trick as they replace the Antivirus part of Defender, and I guess they don't blacklist vbs files (In Defender I tried excluding the folders and the vbs files, but it didn't help)

I know this is something temporary, and sooner or later  they will be allowed again, as it must be an error in Defender. But until then simply install any other anti-virus, which at least will let you exclude the folder with the vbs files if needed.
