Tonight (this afernoon maybe for most people here), impossible to submit a score, tried standard & 5 min mode, different tables, everytime submit sounds ok but no trace on the website. I even tried to go back to the normal 2.11 version. What could have changed ?

It,s not letting me start the insane challenge. I warmed up with a kiddie challenge. None are reading as locked out.

here is what it says

attachicon.gifchallenge bug.JPG

Hi Dedrok_V,

Thanks for reporting this bug btw.

I fixed the issue with starting the next insane challenge, seems i forgot a variable in that challenge.

All in all an easy fix , thought this one would be a real headbreaker but phew.....it took just a few minutes....

Enjoy the slaughter of those poor innocent aliens......

Hi Guys,

It seems that many experience the occasional score not being entered in the database (or perhaps more than occasional).

I understand it's quite frustating putting in a good score to find out that it didn't enter the database.

As i don't think I can fix this issue in the near future I'm really not sure what to do here.

Maybe it's best to just stop developing further (adding new tables , badges and challenges) and leave it as it is for the few that enjoy it regardless the occasional misfire.

An unstable system is very frustating and it certainly doesn't invite playing it......

No white flag allowed, this program is a huge addon to VP ! We need to find out what's wrong with submitting, by logging activity or any other way !

Please don't leave DNA we need you ! :D

Can anyone tell me how the rankings points are calculated? Sorry if this has been discussed earlier in the thread.

PS This is a great add-on and i can live with the occasional score not submitting. Please don't stop  developing, your work here is much appreciated. :otvclap:  :otvclap:  :otvclap:

It depends on your ranking and the number of scores submitted, but I don't remember the exact formula

DNRDisturber: I couldn't figure out how PINemHI worked a year ago, so I just kept updating Sabats Hi Score Thread.  Now that I have it working for the first time a couple months ago, it took a few adjustments in the cfg file and a few(rol) HR playability issues, but it is a great interface and does a wonderful job of posting scores(most of the time)  While two or three do post, another two or three won't post.  Could it be the alt entry in the games.xml?  The two games listed below with the ALT exec at the end of FS did not post tho I got the thumbs up sign in PINemHI

I played six games yesterday and this morning CST USA,

Not great scores but just checking the tables that post as if it is a table specific problem.

GAME                               WORKED                   FS  ALT executable in Games.xml

Twilight Zone                       yes                                 no

Funhouse                           yes                                 no

Theatre of Magic                  yes                                no

Cirqus Voltaire                     no                                  yes

T2                                       no                                  yes

Congo                                yes (1)                            no

Congo                                no  (2)                             no

ALL ENTRIES FS

I dont know a thing about code or scripting, but i am going to mess around with the games.xml in an editor and see if It helps by deleting the alternate exe. I might just screw it up, but I can redownload PINemHI again if necessary

Again I am just using PINemhi no other frontends

EDIT:  Congo games 1 and 2 were about an hour apart and score 1 worked as a test 1.4B,but a good hour of game play later and score 2  11B did not

I found that after the first  updates from 2.0 with the added front end, is when I started to have score upload problems .... just check what may have changed around that time. I'm still only using basic keyboard / desktop.

I also find that I can submit the first score, but not subsequent scores.

It doesn't become much of a problem until you have a failed submit after a 2 or 3 hr game ...... I already use the keyboard on my lap from smashing the desk tray  :throw:  , and almost the keyboard a few times  :)  and that's just from playing.

Could it be the alt entry in the games.xml?

Well, funnily enough all of my tables were set to ALT and have been since the update. The ALT exe was for any build all the way up to rev445 and worked fine. I have tried all the VP builds at some point on this, and all sorts of different combinations.

I've removed all of the alts now and put the main executable as 445. Time Machine posted a standard score with the alt tag, 5 minute mode didnt work, changed the alt and 5 minute posted but that could of been just a fluke. X-files posted. Another standard party zone posted. I'll put a real test on tomorow with Dracula, this has been a pain above 1 billion.

Thanks for the input Chepas.  I have read, but not necesarily understood, all the last few pages of posts about alt. exe, and swapping CV roms for versions.

Most all the executables in games.xml, reference VP9.14 version.
Am I right in understanding that you swapped the normal VP9.14 exe to VPv445 in both the games.xml and the Leaderboard config file?, or does the Alt.exe automatically switch it.  Do you need to have both VP versions listed in Leaderboard config file/ini?    Have you considered renaming the VPv445 to VP9.14(Not sure if that would work).

I have only needed the v445 version for Star Wars Trilogy, but it plays really good with HR on, and however those new physics concerning textures seems to allow some five year old computers compete!!!

I am anxiously awaiting your results as a means of tweaking my PINemHI Experience.  It is pretty frustrating knowing sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't  I would like to isolate the games that won't actually post, even when they get the THUMBS UP in game that they did

. I wonder if you need to wait a certain amount of time after accepting a high score and after the thumbs up to actually enter another game or exit PINemHI, maybe its a communication problem with the transmission of the nvram file should you exit the game or program too early.  I should put my laptop on the website and try to see how quickly the last posted score actually appears on the website.

It is baffling for me, good luck!!

Since the update that included the ALT tag I did a find & replace text to replace every tag to use ALT, which was 445, and if there were problems I would remove the ALT of a table to run default. I know for a fact that every single VP exe will work, it really is only meant for compatibility with older tables. I haven't come across any table that looks, plays borked in 445 so I'll continue to use it. That and the fact that it's a big performance increase for me. Try it for yourself comparing a table and bring up the FPS (F11)

Hehe yeah, I did have a supersticious way around it too. That was to push left and right a few times on yes & no then click submit.

I should put my laptop on the website and try to see how quickly the last posted score actually appears on the website.

It's instant if it takes it.

Locally, on the client I really don't think it's an issue. If a table crashes it is but all the data is grabbed from what DNA needs on exit, the hiscores are in hiscores directory, the score displays correctly on submit screen. None of the local stuff fails.

Ok, I deleted my whole setup .... installed version 2.0 and same thing, random.  Uninstalled all again and installed the latest version , 2.11 and the 2.11 cvfix. Still happening, every 2nd or 3rd one will enter ..... Weird.

Awesome scoring 5 min mode .... not work.   Crappy scoring 5 min mode .... do work.

Really big scoring normal mode ... not work. Crappy scoring normal mode ... do work.

Me thinks a pattern is emerging.

I've made some loggings on the server for the scores to see if they come knocking on the door of the server.
This is logging of all that is sent but before it enters the database and checks whether you are authorized.

If you have one that didn't enter the database post it here as soon as possible as i then know the time.
Things i need:
Game played
Which mode ...5min or normal
Fs or vp9
And last but not least the score.

If i don't see them coming in, then it's probably the clientside where it goes wrong.

Tia

@dedrok. I still have the pre 2.0 sources...we could also check if there aren't any problems

It probably means that it goes wrong when sending ....server is probably fine...
Strange thing is that i don't have issues.... Using 2 computers....dbeedle also not having much trouble.....lately he had one but that could have been server related.

Maybe i can add a log to see what pinemhi_ leaderboard does when you submit a score....
Let me see if i can build one in.
