I really need to stop looking at this thread... Knowing that a FS version isn't really coming just makes me sad. sad.gif

Well, an FS version or not. At least there will be a 4:3 version, and I think we all should be very thankful of that. smile.gif

4:3 is nice for those that have 4:3 cabs. For those of us that has sunk the cash to have a full sized 2 or 3 screen pinball cabinet, going back and playing a 4:3 table isn't quite ideal.

It probably wouldn't look right in a FS cabinet anyways. The whole point of pinball 2000 were that the images looked 3D on top of the playfield. It seems like it would be really flat in a cab, whereas you can fake the 3D in 4:3. I could be wrong.

I assure you, the P2000 videos look quite flat in real life, like semi-transparents TVs sitting on top of the playfield. It'd look just fine in VP FS.

I only played one pinball2000 machine once (Revenge From Mars). From what I remember, the ball actually interacts with the video screen images. I don't think it would work well on the backbox.

Yeah, how DO they track the ball for that?? think.gif After playing SWE1 at the Toronto Pinball show I wanted the operator to open up the playfield so I could see how the ball interacted with the video sequences.

Five playfield switches track the ball for all the video sequences. You have your left drop target, the left standup, the middle moving rubber, the right standup target, and the right drop target. The display itself is offset to the left so the jackpot shots line up with the targets below it. The ball never actually hits the display, it's simply positioned in a way that makes it look like it does.

Really? This thread bums you out? Is FS really that great that its FS or bust? I sure don't think so.
It really is impossible to make everybody happy. A few years ago I would be laughed at if I even asked if we would ever see a pin2k game emulated, it just wasn't realistic to think it would happen. Now people are bummed cuz there isn't a FS version coming!

Even if it was only being released sideways at 8:2 aspect ratio, its something to be excited about. Btw, just cuz you can't put it in your cab doesn't mean you can't just play it on your desktop or laptop & enjoy it just as much, if not more, than if it were FS. At 4:3, everybody can play.

Real Pinball > Emulated Pinball
Full Screen > 4:3

If you had 100's of real pinball machines you wouldn't even think twice about emulation. Having a full sized cabinet doesn't even make me think twice about playing a 4:3 table even after playing 4:3 tables for years. Once you go to a full screen cab it's really difficult to try and enjoy a 4:3 table especially since my 4:3 setups aren't really ideal for pinball emulation anymore. I guess people that don't have a full screen capable setup really don't understand.

It's like trying to play classic arcade game on a home console with a body motion controller, ie MS Kinect. While it is playable are you really going to enjoy playing like that?

Would you mind taking this discussion to another thread? I'm making it for 4:3 because I have to sell my cabinet. Feel free to mod it for FS after it's released. btw - I just got actual scoring displays working now for in game - it works just like the real thing. I was surprised - if your player name is too long, like "Darth Maul" then after 100 million points it will cover up the middle Ball number and free play text, heh. At least I got that part right.

Ha, that's awesome. 4:3 or not, you are doing an amazing job.

Another 5 days and another video clip...

This has the intro sequence, player control code, the animated light sabers... The fonts are all customized now since I couldn't find anything close enough online.

Great work my friend! I am sure there are only a handful of people in the world that would even contemplate doing this, yet alone take the time to do it.
We all owe you a huge thanks for having the passion for such a tremendous effort. I'll be watching and admiring your accomplishments.

Good work destruk,

also thanks for explaning how the scoring works on the display by the switches on the playfield so now we can move the screen to the second monitor for us FS users.

I'm pretty sure that still won't work.

Well, it would work, but it wouldn't make much sense to play it that way. Maybe there will be another solution. Either way, I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

It wonīt work njamont, as you really need the video on the same screen as the playfield because itīs like a part of it...
But as it was OK to do a FS mod after the release, we could just hope that someone knows (and have the time) how to do this.

If it just was a time consuming work and not a too complex one I would be glad to help later with my spare time! yahoo.gif
