I don't know what you did JP, but v1.1 regular works fine on my weak system, multi-ball, lights flashing..no slowdowns! Thanks

What I did to speed up the table? I removed the fading on the GI, just on/off now. You nearly don't see the effect anyway. I also changed the 3 flashers on top of the bumpers to use simple dropwalls instead of the new flashers I made using ramps and lights. I also removed the old plunger and made it now using 2 kickers and two small images. All this saved a lot of redrawing and video memory.

Speaking about the plunger: I used a normal plunger for this table so if you have a cabinet and you use a hardware plunger you may just enable it in the editor. Before I used the impulse plunger in my tables, but from this one I'll use a normal plunger, so it will be easier to change its behavior if you aren't happy with it (as I guess many of you change also the flipper settings to your preferences).

About the Pinmame Timer: Yes, I know it is disabled in the editor since I enable it in the table1_init. I don't see why that should have anything to do with sound problems. If I didn't enable the pinmame timer then the tables would not work at all.

My next table? Well, I'm nearly finished with Blackout, after that I'll convert some of my old VP8 tables to VP9 (mostly make them playable under VP9). I have plans to convert all my tables to VP9, but that will take some time smile.gif

DMD hack? I hae never heard about it, please send a PM to destruk, I'm sure he will know about it. Maybe you just need to reinstall vpinmame?

Thank you very much JP for that wonderful table/update laugh.gif .

There is only one thing I don't understand. I bought a new PC with 4GB RAM, Phenom II x4 QuadCore@3,2GHz, Nvidia GeForce 9800GT 1GB and when I play the reduced version, the ball stutters sad.gif . On your TOTAN VP9 the same.

I have installed Win7 Ultimate, do you think that's the problem?

hey guys, the leapers hitting the glass is my fault smile.gif I'm a sucker for really fine details and basically the leapers jump according to how hard they are hit, we have a routine that measures the speed of the ball when hitting the leapers, and if you really whack them you can hit the glass - this is true to the real table.

Another tiny detail which you may have noticed is that the crate door wobbles a touch when you hit it before it is due to open. I think little things like this add to the experience, I love putting them in to see if people notice. The idea is really that you don't notice, it should just feel right without you realising. In the older version for VP8 you can even see ball reflections in the leaper targets, I don't know if JP kept that in for this version or not. Also I really wanted to put the eyeball plunger in somehow but we couldn't quite fit it in sad.gif

sound distortion problems (glass_hit) for me result:

The McD : ok (delete glass_hit sound)
Shooby Doo : ok (exported the sounds glass_hit, converted them in 44.1khz) cool.gif
rschudej : not for me?(the Pinmame Timer check)

thanks all, and thanks again to JPSalas and highrise for this great table biggrin.gif

I'm happy how the table came out. And I didn't add the ball reflection on the leaper targets, because I added the light reflection instead. And it was a little too complicated to add so many images to add both the ball reflection and the light (from the playfield) reflection too. So I opted for the light reflection.

It is strange about the sound samples playing better at 44khz, I guess it has to to with the pc's sound system. I have no problems with my x-fi gamer. I use to make them all at 22Khz just to save space, since the quality of those ping/pongs/crash/boom are nearly the same.

I don't know much about win7 and VP, since I used win7 for only a few days, and I reverted to XP. Just now I don't see the point, but later I guess I'll use win7 as the rest of the people. But I guess the ball stutter is due to the nvidia drivers. People says 182.50 are the good ones for VP (but I don't no if they exist for win7). I use XP and the driver 186.18 and everything works fine, no slow downs at all. (My main pc is a dual pentium at 3Ghz, 4Gb ram, nvidia gts 250 with 1Gb ram).

If you feel the table is too easy you can always shorter a little the flippers or change the oblique correction (set it to 0, for example). And the best will be to move up the side posts with the rubber up, which is the normal way the pinball designers make the tables easier or more difficult.

Hi JP,

i use nvidia driver 191.07 under WIN 7 64 on my GTX 285 with 1GB.
Your new reduced version runs much better but sometimes i had these ball stutters.

Someday i will test the newest nvidia driver.

I tested the driver with Scared Stiff and no stutter at all tongue.gif !

Just try it!

So does it look like we can all upgrade from the 182.xx drivers or do the new drivers still have problems with dual screen/DMD setups?

About the glass hit sounds: somehow I managed to add to the table the very high quality sounds for the leapers. Some soundboards may not handle them very well. Here are 3 normal sounds (22khz) for all of you who have problems with the leaper sounds. Just reimport them in the table.

A FanTasTic Table! smile.gif

Only when using the good 'old' UVP Backglass I don't seem to get the Spider reel. I know the Spider itself should be incorporated seperately (not done yet) but I meant the 'rolling of the wheel itself' when spinning.
With the earlier version, no problem. With v1.1 it's gone.

Tried to change/opt out several 'wheel values' but doesn't make any difference.

Anybody any idea?

Thanks!

Cheers,
FD.

I noticed this too. I think the script will need to be compared between the two versions because instead of "lights", the new version uses EMReels so we'll need to maybe re-add the script to re-enable the lights?!?

Just change the settings in Vpinmame.

Feature adjustment A2; Adjustment 30; Disable spider = Yes.

The uvp spider lights will work as normal.

OK, after a bit of head scratching, I figured out you meant changing this in the coin-door menu of the DMD! biggrin.gif

I will give this a try when I get home tonight. Thanks Iceman5000!

p.s. any idea why the 1.0 FS version worked with the UVP backglass with the spider enabled?

Yes 1.0FS worked fine with the spider enabled. JP added the pop-up spider on the 1.1FS table. So vpinmame thinks the spider is working, (because it is on the pop-uo)
On version 1.0FS Vpinmame did not "see" the spider working so it defaulted to the lights just like a real machine.

Understood. So I guess that means it's impossible to have both working? (Unless we can make vpinmame think the spider is not working via script and still have the EMReels on the screen?) But that is probably just wishful thinking... wink.gif I'm going to look anyways, just for fun.

Thanks for explaining it Iceman5000.
