FEEDBACK HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL!

Thanks to everyone who has provided feedback (and with pics and videos, etc) with whatever problems they were having! This helps immensely as I can see what is going on with things I can't replicate myself (some being the result of non-english related Windows locale issues, etc). This lead to the fixes implemented in update 1.1.

EVERYONE, please install the 1.1 update!

Please give feedback if having problems still, or if it seemed to help or fix your issues... anything.

If some are still having problems:

- in rare cases a couple of balls may jam a kicker / scoop entrance (Skeletor) and force a ball out of bounds. I can't prevent this (that I know of). If this happens, an Orko Shot won't be able to retrieve the ball. Your only option at that point is to TILT, and allow the game to force an end of ball and resume.

- if you have a low spec PC (slower CPU, low vram, low RAM, etc), this game simply may not run correctly for you!  It doesn't matter if other PinEvent tables run fine for you. This was a game made for 2024 with all the modern features and physics that entails. Those things require a capable PC (but not a powerhouse PC either). This is not your FP from 2010 anymore! This is the most powerful pinball in the universe darn it! :)

BTW... if it hasn't said by me yet...

Thank you to everyone for the overwhelmingly positive reception to this table! It's very humbling to see so many enjoy the same kind of game I do (no matter what app its made / played on), and the compliments you have been giving have been very kind! It's awesome to see the extra efforts I put in (to so many details and the crazy amount of content / modes / features) is noticed and enjoyed by everyone. This is not your typical "play for 5 minutes" pinball game... and I'm glad to see everyone is discovering the many cool things it has that will keep you coming back to this for a very long time.

TIPS

USE your ORKO SHOTS and Toggle Modes! So many people are missing these very cool and critical features. It's a complete game changer, and unlike anything you'll see on other pinball games! Once you catch on to how it works... its a very fun and helpful feature!

Don't forget about Power Perks! The rewards don't expire (they are saved to your fpRAM file for the table) and can be very helpful towards becoming Master of the Universe and completing the game!

Show everyone your best Score but also your most Collections!

Masters of the Universe - Collector's Edition

Lost / stuck Balls still? Try this? May or may not help.

(make sure you have the new 1.1 update first!)

To anyone having the ball get stuck / lost in Skeletor kicker, or other odd issues (but its running fine otherwise)...

Check the BAM menu (~ or q) and goto Addons. If the "Frame Limiter" is set to OFF, try changing it to AUTO (which is normally the default setting). This is NOT a vsync / fps limiter... but more an internal timing limiter that may allow some events to trigger too quickly or repeatedly if set to OFF, and may cause an odd problem depending on the player's PC and other settings.

While having that set to OFF normally doesnt cause a problem, it doesn't hurt to see if this helps anyone having things like this happen.

I think my default BAM Settings for cabinet and desktop had this set to OFF, so I want to see if I should be changing that to AUTO just in case now.

Please give it a try and let me know how it plays.

If you have other problems by setting Frame Limiter to AUTO (stutters, etc)... then make sure you have the futurepinball.exe set to "disable fullscreen optimizations" first, as without that set you'll get the odd stutters occurring which is a separate thing.

If still having problems... change Frame Limiter back to OFF if it works better for you.

v1.2 update

- added PUP_SSF_Max_Volume setting to TABLE OPTIONS - PinEvent
- moved PUP_BallRoll_Max_Volume setting to TABLE OPTIONS - PinEvent
- added Lost_Ball_Key option if player lost a ball from a glitch, has no balls left, and can't progress (TABLE OPTIONS)
- added Force_Tilt_key option in case game became stuck and player can't progress (TABLE OPTIONS)

Lost_Ball_Key and Force_Tilt_key are disabled by default. They are only meant as a last resort option if your game became stuck for whatever reason and you can't progress.

v1.3 update

- updated ballsaver code to always reset when ball kicked out of plungerlane (except for MB modes)
- fix for Mekaneck Mystery Ready pupdmd label getting stuck on during specific moments
- hide pupdmd png animations during ram-man and battlecat "collected" events
- updated left ramp and added fixes to (hopefully) prevent anymore superspeed balls coming off that ramp
- Perks or Points: now shows how many Power Perks are available and how many Power Points you can get before making a choice

Note: you can always exit out of choosing Perks if you change your mind. Choosing Points however is permanent)

If you had any previous versions of the table already installed, make sure the new 1.3 table file uses the same filename you used before so it will use your CFG file (for pov) that you have installed, and so it uses your fpRAM file which has your high scores and Power Perks saved.

Yes, it's a long ass video. A table this large has lots to talk about. If you want, take some time to learn how some of the magic (and my brain) works. That's what chapters are for :)

John Erwin passed away Dec 2024. His family just recently announced his passing.

I decided to just play my own game and do a creator commentary.

Pinup Player v2.0 beta - Test and Demo of new features

Here is a video where I show the new Pinup Player v2.0 beta and some of its new features in action on MOTU CE!

- no more VLC! (ffmpeg driven)
- 64 bit (yes, still works with FP-BAM)
- OpenGL hardware accelerated
- new engine
- new features over 1.5 (which had so many new things to use) such as Alpha videos (MOV, A-PNG), and realtime shader effects

- I use one pup display for FullDMD (screen 5)
- I use one more pup display for Alpha Videos - MOV with full alpha (screen 11)
- one pup display for Backglass (screen 2)
- that's it!

To give you an idea how it works... for the FullDMD, there are 4 layers in order (from bottom to top):

- videos
- overlays / labels / png
- alpha / mov / a-png
- realtime shader effects

In script, you can "hook" all these into ONE singular layer that gets output together in ONE window! No worries about layering window orders, nothing getting pushed behind something, etc. Its all consitant, efficient, and very slick!

This was VERY easy for me to implement into MOTU CE (which was already using the newer pupdmd framework and pup 1.5 features)

A lot of this video is showing the Shader Effects in-game, but later in the video I show how the new support for MOV / Alpha videos looks! It works so easily!

(don't worry, I have chapters!)

This is a sneak peek preview of my 1.4 update to Masters of the Universe - Collector's Edition for Future Pinball-BAM.

This table is the first to fully utilize new features from the new Pinup Player v2.0 update, such as Pixel Shaders, Alpha Videos, new sound and SSF engine, and more!

In this video I show how I implemented these throughout different parts of the gameplay!

1.4 update (coming soon) - New Attract Flyby & updated Mega Room!

As part of my 1.4 update to MOTU CE (for Future Pinball-BAM), I have updated, rebuilt, re-rendered, and re-baked the Mega Room. I have also added a new Camera Flyby during the Attract sequence (desktop mode only).

I have completely optimized the entire table to only use power of two textures as well as reducing the model and texture sizes for the Mega Room.

All this combined has resulted in the file size being 175 MB smaller, VRAM usage is 1 GB less, and the table loads MUCH faster (half the time with trilinear filtering) compared to v1.3!

This new 1.4 update is almost done, and will be available soon!

MOTU CE 1.4 update is almost here!

You'll need to update your FP-BAM install, and your Pinup Player to the latest new v2.0 beta (if using PUP DMD or PUP SSF features). While waiting for the new table update, you may as well get everything updated!

=============================

=== Future Pinball-BAM ===

First, get the newest FP and BAM Essentials AIO update (3.3). This has the newest BAM beta 401 which is required! This update will also allow MOTU CE to load MUCH faster due to the newest BAM being rebuilt to process BAM stuff much quicker on loading / startup!

For Baller Installer users, you can use the PinUPdater app to update your FP-BAM. Be sure to choose "Future Pinball and BAM Latest" in the drop down menu to get the new FP-BAM updates!

For everyone else...

Manual install / update for FP-BAM:

Guides

I have updated my latest "PinEvent V2 Guide" and "Popper and Baller Installer Tips" with new information regarding PUP v2.0 and the new PUP SSF v2.0 which MOTU CE 1.4 is the first table to make use of. If you use a second audio device for your SSF, then give the PUP SSF sections a read. (important!)

=============================

=== Pinup Player v2.0 ===

If using PUP DMD or PUP SSF features, you'll need the latest all new PUP v2.0 beta (it's required for MOTU CE 1.4). You first need to have a working PUP 1.52 install before updating to v2.0

For Baller Installer users, you can use the PinUPdater app to update your PuP to the latest v2.0 Beta. Be sure to choose "Pinup Baller v2.0 Beta" in the drop down menu to get the new PUP v2 updates!

For everyone else...

Manual install of PUP:

Update to latest 1.52 beta 3:

Pup v2.0 beta files (install AFTER you have a proper working PUP 1.52 install):

- new Snake Mountain gate sounds and other misc fixes
- updated startup code for BAM settings and PinEvent (PinEvent VR settings should apply correctly now)
- updated orbit geometry so launched balls will fall more towards left flipper and not the drain
- replaced some FP models with BAM models (faster "processing models")
- replaced textures with proper "power of two" textures (faster "injecting textures")
- rebuilt and rebaked / rendered Mega Room and models (much smaller in filesize)
- the new BAM models and new textures makes the table load MUCH faster and uses a lot less vram!
- NEW Attract mode flyby camera sequence (TABLE OPTIONS)
- NEW "Skeletor's Tips" at the end of the game - "Until We Meet Again!" (TABLE OPTIONS)

This 1.4 update is a large and significant update. It's important to know about the details for some new features, and what is required to use them.

======================================

=== Future Pinball-BAM ===

This table REQUIRES the newest FP and BAM Essentials AIO update (3.3).

======================================

=== Pinup Player v2.0 ===

NEW! PUP v2.0 support for Shader Effects, Alpha Videos, PUP SSF 2.0, hardware acceleration

- new pupdmd shader effects that show realtime animated effects for lighting, fire, fog, fireworks, shaking, and more
- new pupdmd fullscreen animated alpha videos that splash on the screen! Full support for alpha blending effects!
- new pup ssf 2.0 sound engine! Positional Ball Rolling sounds now supports up to 10 balls, multiple materials, and each ball changes sound on ramps now!

MOTU CE 1.4 makes use of all these new features of PUP v2.0. If you wish to use "any" pupdmd or pup ssf features you MUST install the latest pup v2.0 update!

If you use SSF with a second audio device, then you require setting your audio device ID for pup v2 (which uses its own settings). Read the included "Install Instructions" (the SSF section) to learn how to properly setup PUP SSF v2.0 for your setup!

======================================

=== NEW Pup-Pack for 1.4 ===

This new table updates REQUIRES the use of the updated pup-pack for pup dmd and pup ssf 2.0 features!

REMOVE any previous pup-pack and only install the new pup-pack (and run the Option xx BAT for your setup). DO NOT mix old and new pup-pack files!

If the incorrect pup-pack is installed (and you have pup features set to true), you will be told on table startup its wrong, and pup features will be disabled!

======================================

=== New 1.4 features in TABLE OPTIONS ===

Take a moment to look at some of the new features in TABLE OPTIONS (at top of the table script), such as:

- ball rolling sound mode options: OFF, FP, SSF
- volume settings for ball rolling / FP Mech Sounds / PUP SSF
- pup dmd v2.0 realtime shader effects and new alpha videos
- Cabinet_Mode_Preset
- Normal Map options
- Attract mode flyby camera sequence (desktop mode only)
- "Skeletor's Tips" at the end of the game (Until We Meet Again!)

There are MANY settings in TABLE OPTIONS you can change for your preference! Take a look!

======================================

=== Layout ===

I updated the left orbit to flow nicer for when the ball launches (to keep the ball falling to the left flipper more instead of towards the drain)

======================================

=== Startup Cleanup ===

I completely updated the table's startup code for BAM and PinEvent, which allows BAM proper detection of modes (in VR especially), which allows both BAM and PinEvent to apply settings correctly

======================================

=== Massive Table Optimizations ===

- replaced some FP models with BAM models (faster "processing models")
- replaced textures with proper "power of two" textures (faster "injecting textures")
- rebuilt and rebaked / rendered Mega Room and models (much smaller in filesize)

This has resulted in the table loading MUCH faster (especially with BAM v401) and using a lot less vram!

Filesize:

1.3 Table = 846 MB
1.4 Table = 672 MB
1.4 Table - Minimal = 450 MB

Load times : from "clicking play" to "ready to start playing" (Intel i5 13600K CPU)

1.3 Table (Trilinear Filtering) = 1 minute 3 seconds

1.4 Table (Trilinear Filtering) = 31 seconds
1.4 Table (Bilinear Filtering) = 20 seconds

1.4 Table - Minimal (Trilinear Filtering) = 29 seconds
1.4 Table - Minimal (Bilinear Filtering) = 18 seconds

Total VRAM usage on my PC (fresh boot of windows - only FP is running - 4K resolution)

1.3 Table = 5.6 GB
1.4 Table = 4.5 GB
1.4 Table - Minimal = 3.8 GB

note: enabling Trilinear Filtering adds around 600 MB more vram usage)

Total VRAM usage after enabling Texture Compression in FP Video settings

1.3 Table = 4.2 GB
1.4 Table = 3.4 GB
1.4 Table - Minimal = 2.7 GB

So as you can see, with the 1.4 update, users with a GPU with 4 GB vram now have options to play the table!

fun fact.... if you have a PS5 dual sense gamepad on your PC... you can set that as your pup 2.0 audio device ID for PUP SSF, and you will get MOTU CE's PUP SSF played through that controller, and it translates to positional haptic feedback, for ball rolling and all SSF!
