You were right about not using # for those comments. Stupid mistake.

Should I be using the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Doflinx for FX?

It's definitely not even running B2S. When I remove the backglass image, it just shows the path to where I am supposed to put a backglass image.

Here are the relevant bits of my .ini, maybe you can see something I'm overlooking

########## DIRECTORY PATHS ##########

# IMPORTANT!!! Keep this as the first pararameter (other than DEBUG if you need it) to process in your INI file.  The order past ths point is not relevant!

# Point to your directoutputconfig.ini file.  Your file may have a number, ie directoutputconfig20.ini
# You can point to any of your directoutputconfig.ini files, but only one.

DIRECTOUTPUTCONFIG=C:\DirectOutput64\Config\directoutputconfig40.ini

# This is the folder where B2SServer.exe can be found on your system

PATH_B2S_SERVER=C:\vPinball\VisualPinball\Tables\

# This is the path to where your B2SServer GlobalConfig is located. Needed for addressable led effects.

DIRECTOUTPUTGLOBAL=C:\DirectOutput64\Config\GlobalConfig_b2SServer.xml

#---------------------------------FX3--------------------------------
# The location of the .FX3 game specific files included with the DOFLinx release package
# Ensure your path has a \ on the end of it

I would concentrate on a 64 bit setup, its the go forward option.

Do you have B2SBackglassServer.dll in your DOFLinx folder?  Remember the architecture of this DLL needs to match your version of B2SServer.exe and DOFLinx.  DOFLinx ships with a 32 and 64 bit folder, below these in the DOF folder are a set of core files that match the architecture, you can copy those to your DOFLinx folder as a bare minimum.

Not sure if i've done something wrong so correct me if i'm wrong but i've noticed that since moving to 8.02 (again could of been there in previous versions) FX is not detecting that i have an analogue plunger on 64 bit, neither will FX3 so it's like it's not reading any of my configuration however 32 bit will work on FX3 but expectedly fail on 64 bit as it can't read the memory. I'm not sure where I can even start with the troubleshoot on this or if it's best to start this on a new thread if anyone can give some advice?

Yes. It's here and the correct version. C:\DirectOutput64\64 bit\\DOF, and Doflinx.exe in C:\DirectOutput64\64 Bit.

I'm thinking I might delete the 32 bit Dof folder, and start over, just keep my doflinx.ini. That will make troubleshooting easier. Is there any reason I shouldn't do this?

Ensure you have a backup if you think you might want to go backwards.  Yes, I think your plan is a good one.

Hello everyone,

First of all, thank you all and DDH69 for the immense and truly great work you've done!

A few months ago, I built my pincab, and my initial setup involved installing VPX + PinuP, which has been working well so far.

I recently discovered Pinball FX and I must admit that I really like the arcade/animations aspect of it.

So, I decided to install it following tutorials online.

I thought I understood how everything worked, but I'm encountering some small issues.

Here's my setup:

  • A KL25Z board connected only to the solenoids.
  • A Teensy 4.0 board connected to all my LEDs (undercab, speaker, buttons, playfield, flasher).
  • SSF with 2 external USB sound cards.\
  • DOFLinx 64-bit is installed and functional -> OK
  • Integration of PinballFX games into PinuP -> OK
  • Playfield LEDs -> OK
  • SSF on flippers -> OK
  • Speaker LEDs -> OK
  • Solenoids -> OK

Here are my confusions and problems:

  • I only have SSF on the flippers. What do I need to change to get feedback on the rest?
  • My speaker and playfield LEDs light up while playing, but I can't get the undercab or the buttons (start, fire, extra ball) to work. Any ideas?

Here are the logs provided by DOFLinx in debug mode, if it helps.

What else do you need to help me?

I also don't understand why when I use the test tool for different ports and devices in DOFLinx, for example:

  • if I test port 7 of Device 1 -> my solenoid activates,
  • but if I use port 7 of Device 2, the same solenoid activates.

It's as if changing the device index has no impact.

This might explain why my LEDs are not controlled, even though I have the ones for the playfield and speakers working.

I don't understand. :/

In your log you will see that DOFLinx lists the devices presented to it by DOF upon startup as per the snip below

April 30, 24 5:42:18 PM - DOFLinx device: 1 Initializing as Pinscape #1 with name=Pinscape Controller

April 30, 24 5:42:18 PM - DOFLinx device:1 Pinscape setup with 50 outputs

April 30, 24 5:42:18 PM - DOFLinx device:2 LEDWiz setup with 32 outputs

While you have one Pinscape (device #1) it also gets presented as a LEDWiz (device #2).  This is the Pinscape emulating a LEDWiz, as such it is the same device so 1/01 = 2/01 right the way through to 1/32 = 2/32 , however a LEDWiz only has 32 outputs, so there is no 2/33 - 2/50, but there is 1/33 - 1/50.  The short answer is, use device #1 for all of your device / port assignments and ignore device #2, again from your log

April 30, 24 5:42:18 PM - This device is probably a PinScape emulating a LEDWiz, if it is, then it is better to assign toys to the Pinscape device not this on

Thank you for your response!

Okay, so I now understand that DOFLinx also recognizes my KL25Z as a LEDWiz.

But I'm trying to understand, does that mean DOFLinx doesn't recognize my second card (the Teensy) on which all my LEDs are connected?

How does the link work between DOFLinx and my two physical cards if only my first card is recognized?

In the DOF Config tool, I have two cards, so two port configurations.

Devices:

- WS2811 1 - directoutputconfigini30

- Pinscape 1 - directoutputconfigini51

But, maybe I'm getting confused...

You may want to start a thread specific to your issues rather than hijack this one.

Yes DOFLinx recognises a Teensy for addressable LEDs.  This is done via your DirectoutputGlobal file

My settings are below.  You are using colours.ini for the first one.  I suspect you also have duplicate DIRECTOUTPUTCONFIG= lines that you do not need.

DIRECTOUTPUTCONFIG=c:\DirectOutput\config\directoutputconfig.ini
DIRECTOUTPUTGLOBAL=c:\DirectOutput\config\GlobalConfig_b2sServer.xml

Hello

Just a short message to check with people who tested DofLinx 8.x with FX if it works on your side ?

Because on mine, it doesn't.

I did follow the guide (i.e. copy doflinxtrigger.dll in the right FX folder, launch doflinx 64bits version, unlocked all .dll, enable doflinx in FX settings, add the relevant lines in doflinx.ini...), I still don't have any toys working.

Note it works like a charm with FX2 and FX3, but not with FX.

And I have absolutely no error message displayed in doflinx debug mode.

Did I miss something ? Any recommendation ?

Thanks in advance for any help you could bring

Hey brother, I like you was so excited to see this in action, I broke it. Lol I believe my mistake was inside the doflinx.ini file because there are really bad instructions just for that one part . It just skips alot, and talks about folders I didn't have. So unfortunately I loaded up my clone before attempting it and everything is back to normal. I did get the color dmds working for all the dmds but no dof was working yet .

Ive got it working. One thing I found is that not all games have LEDs setup. Addams Family does, but Jaws, AFM, and Black Rose do not. I was wracking my brain because I was going to those last three all the time and couldn't figure out why the LEDs werent working and then I opened a different game and they were. I was thinking there was something wrong with pinup popper and it was just that the DOFconfigtool for those particular games isn't configured for LEDs. Solenoids and plunger work, though.

Would anyone please post or write up their doflinx.ini, the instructions for what we needed to add to the doflinx.ini really didn't explain much. For example , the folders called DOF. Now maybe for you guys if you installed baller you have a folder called DOF, but I dont have one. I have Directoutput and Directoutput-64

I dont have a pixlecadeLCD on my pinball machine , I do on my arcade but regardless, I tried adding pinballFX  with the pinballfx3 and fx2 line that points to the pinballFX files , pinballfx3 files etc,

There is one folder for pinballFX that only has 5 or 6 files in it. Is that normal? Or am I missing them?.

One of the biggest things that confused me was how we aren't pointing to pinballFX,  we are pointing to some weird pinballFX file that causes the program to go offline if you attempt to run it. (Apologies I can think of the same off hand).

I setup all my altcolor Dmd's for pinballFX and we pointed directly to the regular pinballFX.exe and not the other file the instructions tell us to point to.

Please anyone can you post your doflinx.ini? I am asking for your .ini because after changing the changes we were told to, my doflinx stopped working for everything.

Anyway I recloned a backup and started over.

Appreciate anyone's help, I know it's a pain in the but helping other people troubleshoot.

Mine is in the DOFLinx.zip installer  :dblthumb:   Can I suggest that you look at the DOFLinx.INI in the \config folder of the installation zip, its a fully functional INI file for PinballFX and MAME.  Of course it has no toys as they are always unique.  You should be able to get the bits you need from there.  Otherwise post yours and we'll work on that.

PinballFX.exe is essentially a bootstrap program for PinballFX-Win64-Shipping.exe, so we monitor for the second one in PROCESSES=, but still call the first one to start Pinball FX from your front end menu.

Yes the \FX folder only has a few files, you are not missing any.  That is because we have not yet created one per table.  The number of table.FX files will grow over time.  The location you place these is is PATH_FX=

If you don't have a Pixelcade in your cabinet then ignore all those settings and DOFLinx will also ignore everything unless it sees Pixelcade software installed.

Hello

Updating my previous post : I finally succeeded in having it worked. I've noticed a mistake in PROCESSES settings : PinballFX-Win64-Shipping was written PinballFX-Win64-

Shipping (with a carriage return), but because my .INI wasn't open full screen, I believed it was on the same line. Anyway, now I have most of my toys working (I have 8, only contactors), but only the flips aren't working (what sounds weird, because it does work with FX2 and FX3).

Has someone the same trouble ?

Thanks

Yes it is working and can be setup.  Force feedback is functional.  As more specific table files are built and updates done the amount of feedback and functionality will continue to increase.
