Wire ramps completed, will make texture and shader adjustments later just experimenting to find a good one and a few tweaks here and there. Next up the rod plastic..

Holy crap that's looking good. If I had a time machine, I would jump ahead to whenever this table gets released wink.gif

Table looks amazing...
But the wires...
I think the way JP and Groni did is better... best looking... Double check with them about wire ramps....

it is truly amazing what truespace and photoshop can do. But having not the money (and truespace is beyond me! I've tried it and got so lost within it I gave up) I just plod along with the vp graphics. oh well...

As was stated need to work on finding a good shader, and the difference between Groni, JP's etc and mine is that theres is a constant texture image on a wall where as with mine i have many options to choose from and other factors that decide the final look cos don't forget i'm working in a 3d environment and you set everything up yourself like lighting etc.
Take a look at the plastics and playfield for example nice and reflective like a real one but only because there is enough light from surrounding objects and the sky light shining down, turn off the lights in lights off mode and what happens? no reflections and therein lies the issue with Stainless steel ramps to get them to look all shiny and reflective like real ones there needs to be enough light in the scene to do it but if i put too much light in it will kill the effect on other surfaces and because the surface area of the wires is only a diameter of .1 inch there's not much surface to work with, have a look at stainless steel in the dark looks dull and flat doesn't it, give it enough light ooh nice and shiny lol.
Kurt will agree with me that it takes some time to get the shaders right as there is so many to choose from in Truespace and so many options to set like Luminance, shininess, reflection, refraction etc and the rendered result relies on everything else in the scene and while my final result overall may not be perfect i'll try to get it pretty damn well close with what i have to work with.

rdeeejay is quite right. Getting the shaders just right is the hardest part.

For my wire ramps I use a shiny metal, with reflectance, like a mirror, dialled back a bit, with VERY little ambient setting, and the underlying color of the wire is a dark grey.

rdeejay knows what he is doing, and I'm sure he won't release it till he's happy with it (as I do).

Something to keep you going while i head away for a few days camping and fishing smile.gif

Rod plastic in, rod tip texture to be done, jet bumpers in(Thanks Kurt) only a bunch of minor stuff to go now, throw in some minor objects, nuts and bolts and screws, adjust the heights of a few objects and then finalize the lighting and shaders and probably a few other things i'll no doubt spot to be done.

rdeejay, the reflections on the table are very intense and distracting IMO...
