Hi again,

Right, I’m running the latest version. Issues with compatibility mode sorted. When playing TRON, the playfield goes blank for a few seconds when certain events are triggered, I figure this might be that PUP is writing to the PF screen so I’ve tried to find a way to turn that option off but cannot get to the config menu. When I run pinupdisplay exe, nothing happens so that option wont work. PUP plays to the Topper, DMD & Backglass without issues.

Finally, VP always crashes on exit.

I would upgrade to Win 10 however the hardware in my cab that controls the flippers etc is not win 10 compatible sadly.

Any ideas?

Kind regards

Nick

the new version puts PUP display in the system tray... you need to dbl-click or single click on it to bring it up to config screens.

Confused on install of new build.... pardon my questions and thanks in advance for assistance...

Should I run installer now with new build?

- I had the old build up and running (which meant I ran installer)

- Deleted ALL PUP files

- Unpacked the new build (noticed that Win 2K compatibility is on by default)

- did NOT run installer

- Table plays and you can see the PUP videos sitting on the play field (which is their default position)

- When I exit the table PUP completely closes out and I no longer have access to move the PUP videos around.

Afraid to run installer again until I am told to (I don't want to get yelled at ;-)  Seems like I just need to position the PUP videos but it is behaving slightly different than the old build and I do not know where to go to do that.

I guess I was expecting to see the configure button on the PUP Player and I don't. see here:

https://imgur.com/a/0pVvM

For what it's worth I ran the installer after a reboot and the ability to configure the PUP video placement never comes back. I'll hang out and wait for some expert advice.

Tried all that but the config option is just not there. Only one item in the menu and all that does is tell me PUP is running and what version. That’s all there is. Must be something in my config i guess but can’t work it out.

Silly question about tron.... are any videos set the the PUP DMD? I am only getting gameplay video via Topper and Backglass. just wondering what other people were seeing. yes PUP DMD is set to hide when paused. I am also using the dot matrix dmd that came with the original table build.

Wasn't sure what the plans are for PUP DMD.

Installation successful BTW!!

tron only uses bg and topper....  other tables could use all 3 if they choose to.   (that'll be a whole lotta videos playing at once)

btw:  I updated the zip to include a 'better' tray icon and always setup on installbatch.....  if you're up to it...give it a try....same link.

I am not sure if this will be helpful or not to anyone, but, if you want something to test independently of the TRON Legacy table of Supreme Awesomeness, if you have Data East Batman (The 1989 movie themed one) you can try my pure PuPB2S thing I made.
This is not a "release" or anything like that, but it is what I used to get the 'gist' of how it works and it helped me understand the options.

If you want to try it, it is on my drive here: https://drive.google...pjD2nngKLLNjjcF

Note that the videos are all set to *not* play any audio, as my Batman is altsound'd up with movie OST et al.

To get an idea what it is supposed to be doing, have a look at my crappy youtube video I posted in the other thread: https://www.youtube....eature=youtu.be

-K

Do I need to edit script of the Batman table? Also do I need to create a subfolder under PUP Videos similar to "Tron_Legacy"?

Nevermind I needed to enable the Backglass settings. Weird because I was able to remove that setting and Tron was working without it. I'm sure I missed something =)

I did notice that I could not play your video clip names that began with a "." eg ".dancedevil.mp4". I haven't played the table enough to see if it plays in game. But it is relegated to only the files that begin with a period.  -Very cool so far!!

You don't need to touch the table. If the PuPPlugin is set to active in B2S, that is all you need to do. There is no fiddling or hacking involved, and the other files you mentioned are artifacts of MacOS and are ignored elsewhere.

I am playing around with the configurator to load video files on another table. I do not understand the relationship between the blank ROM folder and the table name Tron legacy. The Batman table works with only one folder Batman folder but the Tron table has two folders. I'm able to get video to show up at the start of a different table to which I am adding video but I have to put the video files in the ROM folder for that to happen. If I leave the ROM folder blank I don't get any videos at startup. Also having some triggering event issues but I want to understand the two folder versus one folder video relationship first.

Finally..... Sorry, was a bit of a D’oh moment. Yes, found the icon, adjusted to not show on playfield & works like a charm. Still crashes Visual Pinball x on exit though for some reason, but other than that it all works perfectly & just looks amazing with TRON. Thank you.

Kind regards

Nick

Mine is not crashing through VPX. Although the play quality is diminished in PinX front end but that has nothing to to with PUP I experienced that prior to PUP installation.

Win 7 + PUP + VPX(latest beta) + PinX is OK for me

Terry's "Tron PuP" table is using the direct VPX script interface, not the pupb2s link.    There's two interfaces supported by PuP.  One using the pupb2s editor and reacts with events from b2s, the other method is using table vbs scripting directly.   Vpx scritping needs to use their own folders NOT the rom_folders since those are used by the pupb2s driver.

Hello All,

Installed the new version and wanted to throw out a few things.

The pop-up did now show on install, but i take it you've fixed this on the new release.

I also had a weird registry error pop up, i just igored and kept going but it did occur.

Can anybody else confirm that your startup sound in PBX still works,  I used to have the daft punk "The Grid" song playing in the background since this install this startup sound in PBX no longer plays.  I even updated to 2.50 of pBX and the mp3 file will not play.

The table sounds play fine, but no startup background music at all.

Place a file in the startup sounds folder in PBX media and start PBX and see if if plays.

Mine is not crashing through VPX. Although the play quality is diminished in PinX front end but that has nothing to to with PUP I experienced that prior to PUP installation.

Win 7 + PUP + VPX(latest beta) + PinX is OK for me

Go here and look at Ginsonic's post about 4gpatch, it might help you out.

rablack97,

I have the new PUP release installed and yes sound works in PBX. When flipping through the wheel you can hear music and the table says "This is going to be quite a ride". When you enter the table the PUP screen flashes briefly with no sound before returning to the backglass over which I have it posted. The table and PUP videos then play with sound during play as normal.

@nailbuster: Just for feedback. Running the latest and greatest everything on Win7.

Everything was setup correctly but gave me the no errors or output until your newest 98b release + Win2k compat set.

Very cool stuff, hope you get in contact with Freezy soon. Would be interesting to see what you guys can come up with ;-)

And, thank you Terry for all your hard work in making a great demo and "guide" for future reference.

I'm an old grumpy guy that may not like all the bells and whistles, but, fortunately, this can be tuned to do exactly what you want.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

yep, and i did run as admin, i've also noticed, windows 10 blocks all of your .exe's now inclusive of the .dlls.

Those sounds work fine.  In the PBX media folder there is a startup sound folder in that folder you will see a launch.mp3 or .ogg file.  If you have startup sound set to on the "play some mean pinball" comes on.  I changed mine out to the "The Grid" it used to play in the background but now its stopped all of a sudden.

rablack97,

I'll have to play with it later and see. I just use Game Manager to import all into PBX and everything works fine. PBX kind of sounds like a mystery Peanut Butter sandwich... I mean what does the X stand for... is it Jelly or is it Jam.... Fried with bananas like Elvis? Just saying ;-)
