Hi ganjafarmer,

the table is looking gorgeous as it is now. You may try to tweak the Wrap property of the ramp material or Shinyness. I would encourage You to release the first version. If You are too uncomfortable, call it version 0.9. There will be feedback regarding things You are not aware of at the moment, so You can add the changes You want too later on.

Regards

Michael

Yeah, What Mike and Michael said.  Table looks amazing.  Don't let the metal ramps hold you back.  The ramp in MGOW stalled me out for a year till I said the heck with it.

Your table is fantastic, it's just a "very little" problem with the material of the upper ramps

Sure it can be solved later !

@Ganjafarmer : You should definitely not let these things put you off. I can understand why you are upset because you previous releases has been at a very high standard. Then you get into a situation where you struggle to make it looks as good as you've produced before. Listen to the other authors advices. Looks like they all been there so, release, take a break. And I'm sure you either figure it out or someone will give you a nudge on how to improve it some way down the road.

Be proud and don't despare - it is probably the best HF II this community has ever seen. So ... take that !! :)

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Looks amazing to me. Metal ramps can always be improved later. They don't look bad now! Thanks for your work, ganja. Take your time with it.

I found your motivation and enthusiasm and give it back to you, so you can use it. :-)

The table looks great as it is. Release it and you have time and get response to work on a better version, which you like.
Great work.

I understand your frustration as I am a perfectionist myself(I can get REALLY mad about small details); but your table looks awesome as it is now in my opinion!

There is always (small) space for improvement; you can always release a V1.1; but the current screenshot is already very very good looking/of a high standard.

So in my opinion it's very ready for release :D it's a great table; I played the real table a few month's ago.

Really looking forward to the release! Thanks for all the hard work!

I can understand that you like to submit a version that is as close as possible to your imagination. Sometimes it does need a huge effort and in the meantime everything else does also need attention. Maybe it is good to have a rest and just wait for the moment until you feel today is the time to find the missing link for last optimizations.

On the other hand no one will be disappointed to see an earlier release. It is up to you to increase our pleasure regardless which outcome you choose. :)

Have you thought about baking the metal ramp texture in Blender? I can never get metal ball guides to look good in VPX so I started baking them in Blender with much better results. Takes a little extra time but worth it.

I can understand your concerns, but beleive me, it looks great now. I remember being at this point with fathom, so much already done but so many things I wanted to add but no idea, how. Which is a motivation killer. And to stop at this point makes everything you did before senseless.

I sent the WIP to a friend writing 'and I want to add this and that and that and that' knowing that it would take another weeks. And he replied. 'Bullshit, it is ready for release, don't let the people wait.' And I thought, well he is right and released it.

It's not ready when it's ready (it will never be anyway), but when you release it. Because you decided, "it is ready now"

No different for VPX except that if you are feeling frisky you can project from view and grab a texture from a render layer which will preserve some of the table reflections, too.

I don't know what happend with me, i lost my motivation or enthusiasm, call it how you like it.

I've done some little things like playfield clean up, some lighting changes and physics improvements.

Still can't handle metal ramps and supercharger, it's not looking good, global light is coming straight from top leaving primitives sides dark, maybe after WW release flupper will help me with this. Maybe.

Latest prev:

gtw_095_prev02.jpg

It's not looking good enough to release :)

If you like the metal ballguides from my latest post on WW, I can see what to do about your metal ramp. Please send me your latest WIP then...
