Ok, great, and do you know the key codes for left/right ctrl?  They aren't on the link in the txt file in the same format as the txt file is requesting, so I'm confused.

So now my target looks like this in the shortcut.  Is this right?  C:\DirectOutputnew\DOFLinx.exe pacled64=1 PATH_INI=C:\DirectOutput\DOFLinx_INI\

Following the guide and the links I don't see any links for under cabinet lighting.  Are there none?

I'm following the part of the guide to get Visual Pinball set up as there are a lot of Visual Pinball tables that don't have force feedback or lighting I'm finding and the part that asks me to set a program to run after in Pinballx is a problem for me because my Pinballx already has a run after set...It's pacfix / pacdrive.exe whatever that is so I don't see a place to enter two different run afters.  Will it work without the run after?  Should I delete the pacfix?  I don't know what that does.  Is there a way to have both?

I followed the guide but am confused on another point.  I now have a doflinx.ini file in the c:\directoutput directory AND one in the c:\directoutput\doflinx_ini directory.

Should the same file be in both places?

Well, I'm at a loss.  I have followed the guide to the "T" and have tried Future Pinball and Pinball FX2 and am not getting any feedback or lighting on either one.  DofLinx is running and everything is configured so I am at a total loss here.  I could really use some help.  This is so frustrating.

All of my devices start with a 2 as I was told to do and although I may be a little confused on the exact location of some of them, I'm not at all confused on the lighting as it was obvious and I'm not getting any lighting effects, either.

I don't know what I could've missed.  I've gone over it about 4 times and read and re-read the guide before posting here.

I hope I'm not wearing out my welcome and any and all tips and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Just checked the link to be sure https://msdn.microso...1(v=vs.85).aspx and the keys are definitely there.  Perhaps search the word "control"

The target parameters look right, but why is it pointing to one of your other DirectOutput files being c:\DirectOutputNew instead of C:\DirectOutput.  You need to get rid of the duplicates before they cause you more issues.

You mean you logged on to TeamViewer?  That's awesome!!!  Thank YOU!  I do see the mistake in the shortcut now.  I fixed it.  I will delete the other directories.  Just wanted to get it working first then delete everything.

The guide mentions to have the doflinx.ini file in three different locations.  The directoutput directory, directoutput\doflinx_ini, and futurepinball\scripts.  I copied the one I made with the links to the other two directories to be safe, but I don't think that's the issue.

Is there anything wrong with my ini file?  I don't know why it's not working on either FX2 or Future Pinball???

I have gone over and over it and don't see what I'm missing.

In the guide post search "under cabinet", the example uses device #1, port 9 - substitute your device being 2 and your port as mapped by you

I'd suggest researching what the current program does in Launch After  before removing it.  Yes you need the Launch After command to clear the GAME_FLAG_FILE otherwise your next table may not work properly.  You may want to consider a script to run both commands.

Ok, I'm back to the original problem I had.  This is maddening.  I changed the directory in the shortcut from directoutputnew to directoutput.  That's all I did.  Now when it tries to run doflinx in that directory I get an unhandled exception with the option to continue.  This is the problem I originally started with.  I am at a total loss now.

Just one DOFLinx.INI config file in one place.  One source of truth.  If you do not specify a path for the INI file it will assume that its in the same directory as the EXE.  A separate INI directory is often used because you have a main INI file and may make supplementary INI files too.  Its nice to keep them all together.

Ok, that makes sense on the one INI file.  I believe it is specified as the INI directory so I will delete the others.  But I'm having the same .NET error now so now I'm stuck at the beginning again and can't get DofLinx to run at all again! :(

  1. Clear the DOFLinx.log
  2. Do a sample run
  3. Post the debug.log with a description of what is and isn't working

This is the log with debug=1 turned on, but I don't see an actual debug.log file.

Is this what you wanted?

No I have not tried to log back into your machine.  That would never happen without prior agreement.

What error message are you back to?  Is it the "directoutput cab cabinet owner" message?  If so, have you reverted things back to DOF R2?

OK, you are clearly not back to the original error message as this is definitely DOF R3.  In that case, you need to detail the error for me to be able to help.

You definitely have my permission, blessing, and request at this point because I'm at a total loss.

When I run DofLinx with the shortcut, or even with just the shortcut you created for me in the directoutput directory with the pacled64 command line, it gives me an unhandled exception .NET error.  It's up on the machine right now if you care to take a look.

Thanks,

It's the same message I was getting early on.  Maybe not the first one, but I got this error before.

Ok, thanks to DDH69's help I have made some progress.

Bubble Bobble - Future Pinball is working all except one thing.  The strobe lights keep strobing during the whole game.  But at least everything else works!!  Great progress.

However, Pinball FX2 doesn't work.

I really don't know what else to try or the next step because I followed the guide.  I have obviously missed something somewhere, but have included my log in case it is of any assistance.

It looks like it failed to find the configuration file but I have them all in the Directoutpu\doflinxfx_2 directory and in the directoutput\fx2 directory as the guide mentioned both.  I don't know where else to put them or exactly where the reference to the proper directory is.  It looks to me this is the problem, though, am I right?

I copied all the FX2 files to the directouput directory and the directoutpu\config directory and that works!  I don't know which of the two directories made it work because I was too lazy to try them one at a time, but I'm now up and running with Pinball FX2 and Future Pinball!

I still have some other issues and I'll start another thread in the appropriate spot for that, but the one thing I still have to tackle with DOFLinx is Visual Pinball.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I already have something in the PInballX Launch After selection and DDH69 suggested I write a script to use two things.

I have no clue where to begin with that.

If I could get some assistance with that, I'll be all set with DofLinx!

Thanks so much everyone, especially DDH69, for all your help!

With regard to the FX2 file location.  DOFLinx will search the location set by PATH_FX2= in your DOFLinx.INI file.  Have you added that parameter?  IF it cannot find them there it will look in the directory in which it started (in your case C:\DirectOutput\ ).  Either way is fine.  The separate path and sub directory recommendation is simply to keep things neat and tidy.  Again, as always, I recommend only having one set of FX2 files, so best to decide where you want them and remove the other set.

Ok, thanks.  I will go add that parameter and tidy up.

Can you point me in the right direction and help me get started with regards to the script you said I should write?  To be honest, I don't know the first thing and have no idea where to start so a tutorial or guide of some kind would be most helpful if it exists.

I have another process already running "after" and need to be able to have the current one, PacFix and the parameters in the DofLinx guide set in order to get Visual Pinball tables working.

Thanks so much.  This should be the last thing I need help with, re DofLinx! :)
