Am i'm understanding this correct? the little part moves forwards and back with the mouse underneath it?

Where is the mouse positioned exactly?

Finally got my plunger, so working on setting this up.
Script seems to be working, looking in the vJoy monitor the Ry axis is moving, and seeing my changes.
VisualPinballX is set up to use the Ry axis.
EDIT: SOLVED, See below! (keeping problem incase others encounter it)
BUT, inside any table when I move the mouse, the plunger slowly "ticks" back.
So instead of following the mouse, I move the mouse all the way to the right, and the plunger begins slowly moving back, about 5% a second until it is all the way back, then fires.
(Or I can quickly push the mouse left and fore it to fire from that position)
Any thoughts? This does not mirror what I see in the vJoy monitor at all.
SOLVED:
Turns out the table I was using for testing doesn't support the plunger properly, once I tried a few other tables it was working perfectly, just not in the test table.

Just done mine no software needed works a treat. I made mine by inverting the mouse and using an L shaped bracket to fit on the end of the plunger attached to a block of balsa spray painted a mat colour.
This slides over the inverted mouse
The mouse was supported by routing a piece of wood and hot gluing the mouse from the underside, I did try removing the mouse from it housing but found the mouse needed the housing to stop any light from entering the sensor area
In future pinball I had to set the mouse to - 2 on sensitivity
Plunger was £12 for a chrome one from Aliexpress
Do you have any photos?

no sorry , thats the webpage of plungers , all i done was cut the spring down as it was far to springy for my cab and the removed the e clip and fitted an l shaped bracket to the end and refitted the e clip so that it secured the bracket to the plunger then binned the rubber end plug ,
the mouse was fitted upside down into a piece of mdf which i routed out to the perfect shape so that it was flush and hot glued it in.
the idea is you need to have the mouse fitting upside down with the optical shining upwards then i made to runners out of balsa wood ~(because i had some kicking around the perfect size) then you need a rectangle piece of wood long enough to reach the bracket on the end of the plunger and long enough so when the plunger is pulled back its still covering the optical mouse and to stop it flapping around i placed another piece of wood on top of the runners to hold the rectangle piece down ,

I have 3d printed the plunger file and plunger is fitted nicely.
I understand how it works and have rested my laptop mouse on top of it and as I pull the plunger the cursor moves fine as expected.
I have some thoughts on how to secure the mouse in place but would be interested how other people have done this?
Anybody have photos of their mouse setup? ( again only mouse and 3d printed setups )
Thanks

Managed to sort this.
The 3d print slides over for eg a williams plunger well. The print has slots at one end which slides over the ridge of the plunger and means you can have the print
any orientation.
I have mine so that the mouse rests on top. The mouse can sit directly on top of the print as there is a couple of mm clearance between what the mouse sits on and the moving part of the print that slides under the optical.
I just need to secure the mouse this this so will probably just put some tape on the ridge of the print and then once the mouse is in place, run some silicon down the sides to secure.

i think most that use the 3d print put mouse on underneath with the sliding part.... but if you have the space then on top works.
I agree once you are good with the location... a bead of silicone and/or tape should hold it down easily. I use tape and a zip-tie to hold it on mine.

All fitted into the cab now, and I have installed your software. Setup in VP a breeze, thanks.
Is there anyway to change this to a different key rather than middle mouse button as I use a keyboard/mouse/trackpad which has no
middle mouse button.
I can reach into the cab and press the plunger mouse middle button but if its possible to change the key on your driver then that would be easier.
I know there are other workarounds but thought I would ask.
Thanks

um i have a Mame cabnet that i would love to add a Pinball Shooter too, but i have two more usb mice(spinner and roller ball) can I config this too work with only one mouse or will all be effected. thanks so much and great work by the way...
not sure, its really easy to install/test. I'd just connect a test mouse and install the util and test it out by moving the mouse left-right with hand.

Hi everyone,
First Off, I want to thank you for creating this software and coming up with the idea to use the mouse.
So far, I've managed to get the stick version of the mouse plunger all setup on VPX and smoothly running.
My issue is that once I launch a table via VPX and select 1 player, when I shoot the plunger, it adds 1-2 additional players to my game on the DMD.
How can I fix this? I'm currently using version 0.55.
Is there a newer update? Do I have to adjust any settings via VPX prefferences?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Hallo Nailbuster
I use your mouseplunger file and i works great on my Visual pinball cabinet..
Cut you tell me how to get it works on Pinball fx3??
Chears Johnny
the bottom of readme.txt has "how to get it working in fx2"... pretty much the same for fx3 just the location of steam-pinball fx folder is different in fx3.
Let me know how it goes.
