I bought a new keyboard, I used to have a HP keyboard that was almost 20 years old, so I thought I should get a new keyboard, so I bought a gaming keyboard with mechanical switches, which has anti-ghosting, leds in rainbow colors, and it is as loud as a F16 or a tractor, and... it eats keystrokes! It is a deltaco keyboard dk310, so keep away from it. I had it connected to an USB2 port, and only half of the things I typed appeared in the screen. Then I connected it to a USB3.1 at 5gbits transfer rate... at it was better but still terrible. Now I have connected that to an USB 3.2 at 10gbit transfer speed, and it is ok, not good, but ok, I can live with it. So Williams became Willias :) I'll fix that.

Anyway the keyboard is very solid, well built, but it keeps missing letters when you type a little fast :)

The new update just fixes the name of the table :) So nothing is new, just the name Willias replaced with Williams :D

Whatchoo talkin bout Willas?

I still use a MS Natural Elite
hate everything else i have tried, no matter how good it was supposed to be
and i hate straight keyboards too

What a story !
I thought that the input speed of a keyboard of USB should be fast enough compared to PS/2 keyboards.
Because of this I was curious and found this article http://www.os2museum...-ps-2-keyboard/

Anyway .. Thanks of renaming the files and hope you didn't made any typo in the scripting of the last 2 weeks of tables that you updated.
Thanks JP for all your hard work for the community and bringing VP every time to a higher level

USB is fine, its the keyboard controller in the USB keyboards
they tend to have a pretty lame debounce etc, which adds up to latency

Also the keyboards themselves, physically
Membrane and rubber have a latency all their own.

mechanical switches are faster, but the stupid keyboards cost a lot.

Sad thing is, an old IBM keyboard or similar is mechanical and pretty fast as well.

Oh and no, as far as keyboards go, PS/2 would technically result in faster response time

data bandwidth is meaningless to a keyboard, which is where the USB would excel at.

If one was just wanting to play pinball, i would probably suggest an Ipac from ultimarc and a small box, or a hacked apart gamepad

fortunately the slowest keyboard is beyond my playing skills, so it dont matter to me

Hi JP, so I think there's an error in one of the sounds. On the upper playfield when the ball rolls around you hear the scraping sound the ball makes when it goes down the metal ramps. I'm pretty sure that the upper playfield isn't supposed to sound like metal on metal grinding. Just thought I'd ask if this is supposed to be an accurate sound for the upper/smaller playfield surface.

Thanks for the wonderful table. I love the LUT settings so I don't have to drag out the playfield, darken it in photoshop and re insert it in the table file to get a dimmer playfield. Those LUT settings come in pretty handy.

I use a very simple sound routine to play the rolling sound when on an elevated ramp or platform, and yes, it is supposed to sound like that. To make it sound differently I should need to change a lot of code in the rolling sound routine, and for now I don't feel to do it :)

LOL, ok... well it literally sounds like someone is ice skating up there. Your table, your rules. Have a good one.

I'm going from memory, it should be something like this:

If BOT(b).z < 30 Or BOT(b).z > 104 Then

You do lose some metal sound at the top of the two outer ramps,

but I don't think it's worth adding a lot of coding for a few more inches of sound.

Yep. Metal on metal scraping, the sound the ball makes going up or down the metal ramps. But instead of the normal ball rolling sounds on the upper playfield its the metal on metal scraping sound. It sounds like someone ice skating as well. It's very noticable IMO. But there's a plethora of other black knight tables to choose from so it's not something I need fixed. I thought i would point it out since it's probably an error. As for time spent up there, it's where you lock balls. So somewhere you always want to get to at some point if you want things to get interesting.

just modifiy the frequency or sound used
look at JP's rollingsound routine
you will see that the balls Z axis position asks the sound to change if it is above a certain Z level
just modify that to suit you
