Yeah, I would love to roll this out immediately, but I have to make sure the bootloader is really stabe and has no bugs.

Bugs in the normal firmware dont matter much, since they can be fixed by updating the firmware. He bootloader on the other side cant be changes easily, since this is whats used to update the firmware, but it cant change itself.

Small update:

The first version of the bootloader code was horible to work with, so I have written a completely new bootloader for the board.

In addition I have created a tool which helps changing the number of the controller and which can upload new firmware versions to the board.

 

 

Still need to run more tests and fix some small (cosmetical) issues.

Hi Swiss,

 

Quick question on how this might fit into my current cab plans...I was first just considering a LedWiz (with Zeb's output kit) but with all the toys I want in there that quickly filled up.  So looking at DOF2 and that you were able to build in support for PacLed64, I am currently leaning towards LedWiz for the physical toys and a PacLed64 (both with booster board support) for lighting, including a strip or two.

 

Where might this board fit into that type of LedWiz+PacLed64 setup if at all?

Hi

 

Using a Ledwiz for Solenoids, Motors and so on is a goof idea. Useing a Pacled64 for lights (RGBleds) is good as well, but you cant connect adressable/intelligent led strips to the pacled64. Those strips have a very specific protocol and need a specialiced controller.

Another update:
Made some more progress. Bootloader seems to be fine now.
Just installed one of the boards in my cab. It worked right from the start.

Still need to run a few more tests (mainly for setups with more than one controller).

The strips are all with Ws2812 = Leds with integrated controller.

The Ws2811 is a standalone chip with the same functionality as the controller chip which es embeded in the WS2812.

So unless you are trying to invent something new, you alwasy want to look for WS2812.

I'm sorry for keeping you guys waiting. The past few months real life work has been keeping me busy (far) to much.

 

If things go as planned (meaning that the rollout of the software I've built recently goes well ), I hope to be a bit more active for DOF and the Ledstrip controller soon. Just to be sure that noone has to high expectations: That is not yet a promise or for sure.

 

Regarding the ledstrip controller, I think the the firmware is quite OK now, but I need to finish the next DOF release (which is about 80% done) before the controller is ready for showtime.
