Nice concept and always great to see people working on new projects and development.
A question abit out of the box, what influence does this have medicaly for the human when being a lot in contact with
these equipements such as infra red so close to the body?

I've heard that
After a while you don't need to use the remote to zap to another channel on your tv.....but that could just be a rumour...
Quite handy though :)

Saw some great movies from people using the kinect to play games...one demonstrated tracking his head to change viewing angles on 3d tetris

http://m.youtube.com...h?v=w0Ti3wCsI_8

Hope a kinect can be used in the future......would buy it in a minute....
Keep up the good work....

Hmm Kinect is $100 on Amazon, I'm in for $25 if others want to chip in for the rest and of course if Ravarcade wants to embark on this journey. I imagine it's probably easier to just send $25 x 4 via Paypal to Ravarcade as a donation instead of starting a KickStarter campaign.

Thoughts ?

I think the kinect is a pretty good piece of hardware for what it does but I don't know if the kinect resolution is high enough to a) work from that close (I think it has trouble withing 5 feet though no sure and b) that Tetris video is able to track the x/y head movement, I don't know if it could track head tilting but I guess it does not matter if BAM figures you are alway looking near the middle of the angles for the subtle changes in perspective. It would be cool to try

For the fplaunch issues, to limit problems when editing the fplaunch, always backup both your working exe and ahk so that you can at least restore back to fully working. IMHO, my limited understanding was that you just had to backup the exe as that is what compiling the ahk does, it creates the exe based on what is in the fplaunch.ahk file but perhaps I am wrong? Unfortunately I cannot test this on the cabinet at the moment but as soon as I am able to, I will help those who have problems with the fplaunch to get this working. You will need to be patient though, health reasons here.

I would chip in 25 bucks as well since how the kinect works would probably negate the need for LEDs, so simpler setup. If it works, great, if it does not, I appreciate the effort in trying, worth the shot.

Ravarcade: FYI in case you are not aware, there are free kinect devkits out there, so at least you don't have to reinvent the wheel.

I was joking about a Kickstarter project, but I'm interested to hear if Ravarcade thinks that the kincect specs are sufficient to provide good enough head tracking for this project?

And thanks for the tip on the FPLaunch stuff.  I thought that saving the .ahk file would be enough, but even after recompiling the working one into a new .exe my configuraiton was still messed up somehow.  Thanks for the offer to help, now that I seem to be able to return it to working order I might try editing the fplaunch again :)

It just gets frustrating when you have something work it, then break it, and can't even figure out what went wrong, let alone how to fix it :)

I know very little about kinect precision.

With Kinect it would be imposible to create movie like i made.

Tracking precision: I think it is not enough to "close-up", but maybe (just maybe) will be playable.

Thanks for the update and your hints concerning the calibration board, ravarcade. I'm off to the local electronics shop to get the parts.

And by the way.... all the people who want to support ravarcade and help him develop this beauty, please send him donations via paypal. I proudly did just moments ago.

Again ravarcade.....this is awesome stuff!!!! :D
What about add optional modes and add a mode that supports one Wiimote with a two point sensor, like they do in the video. Must be pretty easy to implement in your code. Ok...this  mode will probably not be as accurate as your two Wiimote mode.
Keep up the fantastic work, and i hope the donations start to flow!!! :D

Two point are unusable not becaus tracking won't be accurate. With two points and one camera you can not distinguish whether the object is far away, and turned.

On video you add "player" have to keep to points parallel to the edge of the table.

Ok....i just thought it was a cool idea to have yet another option to add to your project. I did imagine it shouldn't be as good as with two cameras, but still an awesome effect. I have tried the tracking app they use in the videoclip, and that is really cool.

I've spent the last few days playing with some FP 2.5 tables, and have to say that I love the new physics. This plus BAM will bring the hobby to a totally new level!!
