VP9's physics are way better than VP8, but it looks like it killed all of the 4x3 table creators and spawned a bunch of new cabinet makers.

The nudging system is just whacko, unless you have a $300 Pin Wizard controller and I still haven't seen anyone who paid for one of those, say it works properly.

I'm rather disappointed with the whole situation....

so I guess my pins don't count hmmm? all my newer originals are made in vp9. but then again how many people play mine? as they are not recreations of the famous commercial ones nor do they look as cool as Detruks or scapino's or jp's or... but they are mine and I play and love 'em all the same and they are all 4:3's i only have one monitor so all my pins are 4by3's but hey complain if you must after all it IS an open forum... unsure.gif

I play everything in VP9. If it needs modding, I mod it. Rapid Vienna plays perfect 'out of the box' with only a minor tweak to the goalie's transparency.

If you had an ATI card, HD Render should be off and reorder checked. Not sure if that was the issue, but if you get your broken PC up and running, give it a shot.

Really, I know you have played all my merge VP8.1 originals, everything?

Not sure what you're getting at, but yeah, I play everything in VP9.

Have played is an entirely different matter, though I don't even remember the last time I started up VP8.

I just can't handle the flippers in VP8 anymore. The ball seems to 'slip' right off them when the ball isn't going right through them.

Maybe it's just your setup, not noticed that here myself, got a video clip?

Are you saying you don't ever see the "ball through flipper" bug? Now granted, I didn't see them on most VP8.1 originals, but the moment I played any VPM intensive tables, the bug would happen more often and at the worst possible time.

No I don't get the BTF with VP8 VPM tables, are your .vbs files up to date?

Either way you can as I have done edit the core.vbs to set the downswing speed to 0.15 and a strength of 0.1, so it will never occur and eliminate radical downswing rebounds whilst your at it. wink.gif

Actually on that note is there a script value I can test to determine the version of VP that is running?

vpbuildversion - vp9's all begin with the number 9.

In my opinion I think VP9's physics are better than VP8's.

Now when VP10 comes out it will be a different story.

The single biggest improvement between VP8 and VP9 physics is user-definable gravity, ie. ball weight. Extra weight means extra momentum at the same speed. Now that the ball can be made as heavy as it should be, rubber elsticity must be upped by the same degree to keep speeds constant to how they were before, and what THAT does is to make the behaviour of a slow heavy ball much, much more accurate. Watch how, on properly maintained VP9 tables, the ball now rattles around top lanes and bounces several times between them before deciding which one to go down. It never did that before; it never COULD do that before, becaiuse the ball was so light, if that degree of rebound was applied to it, it would bounce right out of the area in question altogether. So now we can have our cake and eat it too when it comes to collisions.

There is no comparison possible between VP8 and VP9 physics. The only reason why i play VP8 occasionally is to try some tables and i always end up bored.

The only tables I run on 9.07 is the ones that are specifically designed to run on vp 9. Most of the vp 9 tables, especially graphic intensive tables, I can't run. Thats even after taking off HD and dropping the resolution. I find the ball travels too fast and the flipper is lagged (it moves a split second after you hit the flipper button). Some tables in vp 9 work great and they are usually non graphic intensive such as tables from the 70's that have been re-done to work with vp 9. Alot depends on your system (graphics card/driver, ram, processor speed etc.).
If you are making yourself a cabinet with dual monitors etc., more power to ya! Myself, I'd rather take the $ that would be spent and go find a real table that you've always wanted.
Different spokes for different folks!
I find nothing wrong with vp 8 tables and running in 4:3 mode.

Lucky...

Unless you are sure that your GPU is too gimpy, Armpit, turn HD on, save the table, close, open and load the table. If it looks bad reorder the layers and do the same thing. You may also try adjusting the GPU more towards performance (more compatible) and away from quality.

Better for what may be asked. It certainly is not better for existing tables, and it certainly is better as a starting point. In fact, as far as VP's physics, there is nothing that is new discovery or just now available. What it has now could have been put into VP 1.0 and even better.

I still think that the collision mask could have been made solid for the ball without extending past the size of the ball. This talk about the mask and the size of the mask a (point from the center) and the size of the ball means nothing. A collision mask is just math, not a physical thing. The ball size is not better.
Slope is one thing, not two, and not a range. Slope is not better and the ball size is not better.
Nudging could have stayed hooked up, and working as it was. Nudging is not better, slope is not better, and the ball size is not better.

Chill, I voted that the physics are better. This could have been frosting on the cake though, instead of a new unfrosted cake.

I totally agree 100% VP9 is WAY better and very much is like the real thing. I don't have a FS cab so I have to stick to 4:3 tables. Now I just hope more of my favorites from VP8 are converted to VP9 smile.gif

I appreciate the work EVERYONE does to make Pinball possible for people that LOVE it. Thanks for Everything smile.gif

Tudo bem, graças a Deus.

Play VP8 tables with VP 8 & VP9 tables with VP9.
Isto acabara com bugs no grafico, bolas fantasmas... & other problems. dblthumb.gif
