I have no experience with using an I-Pac in conjunction with the kit, so I can't really help troubleshoot on that.

I have now installed well over three dozen of these boards without a hitch using XP and all the features of the board. That's all I can say with absolute certainty. Not a single board has come back defective, nor have I personally come across one.

Ok. Since I really dont need the ipac (I bought it before I committed to the plunger kit...) I will connect everything up the mot-ion board instead. I'll see if that clears it up. I keep having to reboot because of the clicking issue (can't even get into task manager etc, mouse and plunger still work fine tho), but at least the unit is calibrated and seems to be working pretty well! Thanks for the Help Noah, I should have orderd from VirtuaPin. It took three weeks to get to me at the other place.

Anyone know off hand what the mounting screw size is for the digital plunger?, my kit didn't include any hardware and I would rather not bring it to the hardware store and look too much like a dork.
Thanks

10-32 machine screws and washers is what you'll need.

Length depends on your cab thickness.

Noah, is there a setup guide for nudging and what values to change in the tables as well as a starting value to try? I am using an accelerometer (ps3 sixaxis controller) and nudging only works when tilting the board. I know others have used the sidewinder and had good results. I have a sidewinder as well and have never gotten the ball to move with a nudge. Any help here? I realize this thread is for pbw but figured it was worth a shot.

Thanks

Be sure the PBW Accelerometer option is checked.

I prefer to use the following settings ...

Accelerometer Gain: 6.5
Jolt Amount: 1500

Other devices may yield various results.

Ok, it is mostly working well. Seems that I am having issues that multiple nudges in the same direction can cause the ball to float around (i can pass the ball from left to right flipper if i hit the right side over and over again). Is this normal? I am inclined to say that it is.

I'll be wiring a PBW today, so I'll test again, but in my experiences, it nudges back the way I have it set up on the TV tray I use.

I see that also sometimes.

A quick question for Noah...on the ViruaPin...should the "Normal Mounting" box be checked or unchecked? I've see folks recommend both...thought I'd get the definitive answer!

Just how hard are you on that cab?!

huh.gif

I use Normal Mounting unchecked in our units. If you'd like to test, just remove the glass and lift the apron up and slope it left and right. It should go in the direction you're sloping it.

Lets just say I find Eight Ball Deluxe to be one of the most irritting difficult draining steenking games going! I try not to be too hard on it though I play pretty much daily. It's a great system!

Actually I have been fiddling with the gain and nudge settings to find what I like (Usually with EBD as the Guinea pig). And the mounting option. I've seen the "crawl" mentioned by catching the ball on a flipper and wiggling left-right. Doesn't take a lot of omph really. On mine it seems to go right more than left but it will crawl up the flipper over to the other one! I beleive this was with the "mounting" option unchecked gain at 4.5 nudge at 1200 and deadzone at 10 or 8. Could it be realted to how it is calibrated? I lift the apron and tilt it in all directs until the crosshair gets to the edge of the calibration box then move it in a circular motion with th e crosshair hugging the edges of the box. Maybe this makes it too sensitive?

Hey Noah. My slow cabinet build is now moving on a slightly more accelerated path. It looks like you are sold out again. Do you have any idea when new ones will be available? I'’m more than happy to wait but I’m just wondering so I can get a general idea.

It looks like my days of quietly browsing these forums is coming to an end. Time to get envolved.

This is going to be a hell of a ride . . .

I was told they'd be shipped this week.

Will update the item status when they arrive.

I am using a ledwiz, ipac-2 and mot-ion. The only thing connected to the mot-ion is the sata cable and usb to control the plunger and nudge, I am not using it for button inputs.

When I have the mot-ion connected and I hold a flipper button down for a long time (about 8-10 seconds) I start hearing a fast repeating clicking sound. At that point all the keyboard keys stop responding and everytime I press a keyboard key I hear that click sound, when I hold a keyboard key down it repeats the clicking very fast. I have to totally reboot windows to resolve the problem. Very frustrating problem that I can't seem to figure out. I know I have read others use the ipad-2 and mot-ion together, so I wouldn't think this is a problem. Any help appreciated.

Im using windows 7 64-bit. Everything else works great.

EDIT: I think I fixed it. An option was still left clicked on "Turn on Filter Keys" in the Ease of Use Center. Its weird this only occurred when the mot-ion is connected though.

EDIT 2: For those of you may experience this, unchecking 'turn on filter keys' is not the only option that needs to be unchecked, you must go under the advanced settings and also unclick 'turn on filter keys if left shift is held for more than 8 seconds'. This is why the option kept turning back on for me...

Not sure how I can help, since you're not using the kit's key encoding.

All I can think of off the top of my head is holding shift is a shortcut of some kind?

Try wiring the flipper buttons using the plunger kit.

I solved the problem, I edited my original post (see EDIT) with the solution.

I am trying to find the post on where to set the tables to use 'mechanical plunger' however. I thought I would click on the plunger object and it would be there, but most of the tables I have don't show that option.

If the table has a plunger object instead of using kickers (or whatever), then when you click on the Plunger, if you expand the 'State' section of the options, you will see the box to check to enable the mechanical plunger. If they DON'T have a plunger object already, then there is nothing you can do short of modifying the table to use a plunger instead of a kicker (along with all the other necessary table and script changes to get it to look right). I still think the majority of the tables aren't set up to use the mechanical plunger though, so you won't be able to just 'turn on' the mechanical plunger on many of them.

Is it still not possible to be able to bring up the hyperpin pause menu during a game using this board? I've read the other topics and can't seem to find a definite answer.

I've got 4 buttons on the front of my machine, start/coin/button1/button2 .. right now button1 in a game of pinball will bring up the VP pause menu, which is useless to me and will probably be changing it, as it was set for joy8, button 2 would bring up the back/exit/shutdown menu at the menu of hyperpin, but during a game it wouldn't do anything. I was able to change it by setting it to joy16 to exit the table back to the menu and that works ok, but I'd love to be able to bring up that pause menu during a game, and then also the exit menu at the hyperpin menu. Is that possible using this board? I only use VP so I'm not concerned with FP. Thanks

edit: I figured a way to get it to work using a combination of joy16 and joy2key....everything is working smoothly now smile.gif
