Just wanted to let you know, that i got the player to work in my virtual machine. I turned off ramps and some more things, but that has nothing to do with it. I can compile it for DirectX9- and DX10-Compatibe Graphic-Cards now. But nice effects (on rails and Balls) or antialiasing for example will only work with The HiDef, DX 10 profile.
Here's a screenshot from my mac, running the player in a virtual windows xp under parallels desktop vitualisation. The player is also showing the main menu.
BTW: The Virtual machine only has 1.5 GB mem... and a 256 MB Graphic card. Speed is not very good, but also not very bad for a (yet) non-optimized engine.

have you tried it not in a VM. VM tend to suck for video.

well I love the idea, but I cant really comment since it wont even load on my rig for some reason. Also, can we use it without it installing .net 4.0? because 4.0 is a bug riddled POS that kills a lot of very expensive game dev tools I need to keep working for my other projects, so if thats needed I wont be able to run this at all.

Of course. if you read the thread before, some people thought that you have to have a mega killing machine 12 core, dual PCI-E 4 GB Graphic card, 64 GB Mem, 4TB SSD for it to run. This was only the evidence to the contrary. It EVEN runs in a VM on my macbook.
My dev machine is a normal 600€/600$ PC and the program works much smoother there. I get 250-800 fps on my dev machine while i get 30-70 fps on the macbook inside a VM.

You don't need to install full .Net 4, just the client profile, which i haven't heard of any bigger problems (instead of .Net 3 and .Net 3.5). And you will need XNA Framework Redist 4.0 pack.
But don't change a running system. My dev PC is dedicated just for VP development - And i have backups. So i would have no problem with a test. This Project will only get slow updates, so just stay cool. You can test it today, but you can also test it in two months, you can even try it in a VM (which i often do with several softwares, i would not like to install).

Is there any update on the progress?
No, i was fixing VP 9.0.10. But there will be a progress again. The Project is not dead.

Maybe with the player the whole backglass on the second monitor would be easier to attain?

This project is probably the best news for pinball i've seen in a while
Should you ever need help with it, i'm well experienced with .Net and XNA and would love to help out.
But keep up the good work, while still quite some way to go, it's looking good already.

again searching for that damned atari (vaporware) zizzle PF i came across a few pins that I have yet to see here. Are these made yet? the pipeline backglass was made but the real commercial pin never was, same goes for the Atari backglass but this Splash pin is something unique it is supposed to raise awareness with water conservation but I never saw or heard of it till yesterday

well the forum name is "is this being worked on"? so hence my inquiry as to IF these pins are currently being worked on. seemed like the correct spot to post about them.

[facepalm] so that's a "no" then.
...but back on topic - this is still being worked on by Cupid, and he has made some advances, but I wouldn't be expecting a release version any time soon...it's still very much at the early experimental phase.

Dan.

Faralos.. I don't mean to pick on you, I think you are a great guy, and the forum wouldn't be the same without you.
But, the thread is titled "What is this? Is it being worked on?". And the very first post links to Cupid's Visual Pinball 2011 project. After that comes 5 full pages of discussion about VP2k11 (You even have 2 posts on the first page).
I have posted many responses directly to you in different threads, and never received a response from you, leading me to believe that you don't read many of the threads that you post in.
We all love you Faralos

I use sandboxie to run things that I don't want to screw up the rest of my machine.
