ok im pretty confident that pixel ghosting above each pixel is not my fault then but a fault with the 0603 vishay dmd boards


not sure what we are gonna do about the boards all been sold out though!!! my pinDMD is pretty much useless to people without the dmd to go with it LOL

you would of thought they would stock up pretty fast as they much be making a bomb out of selling those boards im sure the mark up is very high on them.

thanks for the pics, I will plug my orange vishay into a couple of my machines with the original power cable and see if I see ghosting tonight.

I received my red segmented vishay yesterday and switched out my Orange one (which has a little ghosting on top of digits) and this one is PERFECTLY clear! Looks totaly awesome except you can see the different segments a bit. The red board I got from element 14 (newark) and received it in 2 days (under $300).

I love my red segmented DMD display.
Sure all the little boards do not match up 100% straight, but once it is on and running it is very hard to tell.
No ghosting is big plus as well.

And i'm very happy to see non ghost pixel in my device ( does mine is a 0603 , i don't think so there isn't this mention on my device )

I'm not sure what I think of this outcome. Ghosting is soo minimal I don't think I'd want the less bright and segment display. On the other hand though, for the price, I'm wondering if they don't need returned and fixed.

Bandicoot: that looks like the same as mine, but I don't have a DMD machine to hook it to.

I know they have new Red DMD's but not sure if they are LED or Plasma.

plasma board is quite far off as dad has not been working on it recently

Yes slight ghosting, but I really had to look for it. The orange is really bright, gonna see how it goes I might put a light tint in front of it cause its one thing that annoys me about the AC/DC pin (superbright)

I found a table that doesn't work, Odisea Paris Dakar. I had to modify this vp8 table to rotate and work with vp9, along with removing some scoring stuff. It does have a tall DMD screen, so not sure about how it will convert.

hmm not sure what gen that machine is, we have only really included all the major gens in our alphanumeric code, much less known ones like this have been left out

me and snotz have been working on a 16 colour version of the .dll and pinDMD firmware for a while and it is now ready

it now supports all 16colour games + 16colour dmdlogo.txt files for your logo (between games)

one note! due to this board not really been designed to do 16colour the firmware has been hacked slightly + due to the nature of how these displays are refreshed the 16 colour gradient is NOT linear. it starts off dark but gets light very quickly. we tried to get it has linear as we could by tweaking a few things

so when you make logos keep this into account, might want to use lower colours and only a few high colours for best results

How do we update the firmware? Maybe I am missing the instructions somewhere.
I assume we have to move the jumper pin and click the .exe's but I don't want to mess anything up.
Nevermind. Found the instruction on the bottom your web page. Did not see those little files the first time.

I decided to go ahead and give the firmware update a try.
However what you show in your guide is not what shows up on my computer. So I have done nothing yet.
First of all I am running Windows 7.

In your guide it says my my comport for the USB serial Port will show up in my device manager under the "Ports" section.
My USB serial port shows up under "Other Devices" and says that the driver is not installed (code 28)
It has the little yellow exclamation point next to it and says there is no driver selected, click update driver.
However my DMD works just fine so I hate to mess with it.

Under Ports (Com& LPT), I only have one entry called "Communications Port (Com1).

Did I do something wrong with the original install.
Everything is working great right now, is it just a Windows 7 thing?
