looks like my ghost pixel firmware update only mended my dmd LOL, if some one could check there vishay displays in a real pinball and see if the ghosting is there, it would be a real help. just so i deffo know its my fault!!!

I only have alpha numeric display machines, so I'm not sure it would work?? Chris? You have a ton of machines, can you test? biggrin.gif

ah Cyclone and F14 seam to use a weird alphanumeric/numeric arrangement, i haven't coded this case in yet, but will sort that out tomorrow so any game using this style of display should work once iv added it smile.gif

also need to have a look at Medusa and see whats upsetting that hehe

i hadnt checked mine yet. The ghosting while present is minimal and doesnt really bother me. I also do not have a real pin to check with.

common hacker take on for the team and put this in your twilight zone smile.gif

Strange, I plugged my Vishay into a Fishtales machine. Split the display in 2 and is also missing some rows. I think I also see the ghosting, so it looks like it might be the Display not the pinDMD. All I did was plug the power into a spare computer and turned it on and plugged the ribben cable in from the williams machine. I was a little scared and quickly took a picture and replaced in HyperPin machine and it once again showed the nice HyperPin logo centered and bright, yeah!

Any ideas (I could also try in a Roadshow or T2 if the fishtales is the trouble)?

Wow I payed alot of money for the Vishay, I was not expecting the display to be the problem. I think I will buy the segmented one and see if there is a difference. (that will take a few days though). Russ you rock, this is so cool.

I got my board during the week... russdx sent me a blank board + parts with nothing soldered on... a spare he had. So I soldered up my board this weekend. Each component is soldered by hand... here is the result:

http://dl.dropbox.co...MD/DSCF0647.JPG

The board works 100% smile.gif

So, now I can get to testing the problems people have with certain games and help fix them. Can those that have problems reply with a recap of each of the games they are having issues with? 41 pages is a lot to look through smile.gif

Thanks
Snotz

Wow. I have pretty good soldering skills.
But one look at those tiny legs on those IC chips would have sent me running the other way. lol.
The odds are just way to high for a short, at least if I were to try that by hand.
You sir, have some mad skills.

I have yet to see any ghosting on my red segmented Vishay DMD. (Not that I want to.)
This afternoon I will be able to finish changing all my scripts and then I can test out a lot more tables.
I have yet to have one mess up but I have not really tried out a lot of LED scoring tables other than Back to the Future, and it works great.

i think the ghost fault might just be on the 0603 displays, the 8x8matrix displays will have slightly different drive electronics.

can any one else test a vishay 0603 display in a real pinball see if it has the ghost pixels?

Finally had a chance to test out my 110 tables on my cabinet.
Took quite awhile to adjust all those scripts, but it was worth it. smile.gif
Anyway here is a small list of the tables that did not work and what they did or did not do.

Banzi Run - Blank Screen
Black Knight- Seemed to have text in the wrong places
Class of 1812 - Blank Screen
Cueball Wizard - Solid Red Screen
Diamond Lady - Blank Screen
F-14 Tomcat - Blank Screen
Freddy's Nightmare - Solid Red Screen
Riverboat Gambler - Seemed to have text in the wrong places
Super Mario - Solid Red Screen
Taxi - Blank Screen

Medusa snotz had a look at and its doing some WHACKY stuff so we need to figure out how to filter out all the crap lol to get that game working.

Just an observation Russds and Snotz:

I think you should also see about integrating the rest of the "cabinet DLL" features too. I noticed today that Elvis threw an error message about "emulation not being 100%" which required me to connect my USB keyboard in order to close out the error messages - short of rebooting my cab.

It doesn't happen often to be sure but it was an annoying 5 minutes. ;-)

Best Regards,
Todd.

p.s. It hasn't been said enough from me: Thanks for this Russdx!!! I love this little USB wonder board you have designed for us!! dblthumb.gif

I noticed when I fired up my Elvis table that it made the Windows screen pop up noise. However I never saw anything and my table played just fine.
Guess I was just lucky. It was the only table that made a noise when I started it.

Russ, I was frantically wiring my backbox today and a question popped up. Does the board have any issues with going through a usb hub? My backbox monitor has a couple of usb outlets in it so I was wondering if I can plug into that or does it have to go straight to the mb?

I do a lot of photography and camera controllers are notorious for not working through hubs so I thought I would go to the source and maybe save myself some grief.
