A little off topic, a Unity engine pinball game for windows and mac os x is being given away for free until April 22nd.  (learned by way of Bluesnews.com)

Hi there.

Super boulot Lizou!

As my "goal" is to be able to play pinball using my brand new Oculus Rift HMD, and assuming that Rift support has been added to Unity, I am glad to see that I will not have to do it all by myself :) (planned to make an OpenGL wrapper for FP).

I am sorry if I missed it (it's getting late and I only read pages 1-8 and 38-40 :)) but I am a C/C++ developper, CG graphics specialazed, CG hobbyist and getting soon in Unity. So if you need some help, I would be glad to help you with this project.

Bon courage!

Ok, I have read it all (took me a lot of time) and played with unity, trying to quickly make a flipper and import ramp... it was just do get comfortable with NVidia PhysX.

I think you made a wise choose picking Unity,as it includes a lot of tools, from rendering to physics.

If you still work on the project and still need help, I would be glad to:

- help designing new "generic" parts (exemple, try to make magnetic field)

- Add the Nudge feature

- include Oculus Rift Support (Already tried it unity and it is really working well) and, more generically, HMD rendering and stereo rendering (I work in Virtual Reality)

- and maybe begin a "full 3D" editor: this one should, for me, import fpt using your script AND provide classic 3D controls, like ones in 3D Studio Max for exemple. This way, we can add features for tweaking "visually", not hard coded, to help integrate new table makers

It is great to have asked for a pro licence because it also adds the shaders ability (for exemple, glass material ;)).

I hope we will hear great news from you, and that you overcomed your personnal problems.

Keep it up,

BilboX

PS: sorry for people you watched "updated thread" and were deceived seeing it is just another coder wanting to be involved in this marvelous project ;)

I am really sad to see no update there. Maybe I missed something?

Weel, I had no answer yet, but I worked in Unity myself: I now have a full VPM dmd integration:

I had to recompile VPM to achieve that in order to export new functions.

You can see at the very beginning of the stereo that I also created a magnet.

I would be glad to give all this code to you Louizou if you don't have it already...

Good luck.

Cool to see you working on something. I would be so great if this project got completed.

Would you be able to complete the project from scratch on your own? (If he has abandoned the site(project)

This is probably too much work for one person to handle. Project is currently not open and tbh I have seen more similar projects fail than succeed. Would be nice to see that louizou accepts some assistance.

Hi. Thanks!

Yes, it is a lot of work from scratch and I think it would need to be unemployed, at least for some months.

Moreover, writing importers is not the part I like the most and the job Louizou made in this field seems to be already in an advanced stage. Remember that the time taken for this work will same a lot of time to the table authors!

He MPed me and was interessed, but I still am waiting for another contact...

However, I'll understand that he'd prefer working alone, at his own rythm, because at this point that would certainly be the way I'd like to do this...

Every body is excited about a new pinball simulator, but it will still take some time... Keep faith! ;)

So this means that you will not be involved?

This means that I would like but that I still am waiting for answer from Louizou. In any cases, I will give him the code I made to include the DMD in Unity...

Hi! You'll be glad to know that louizou and I are working together on this project.

We are rewritting some parts of the code for direct access to VPM and, more generally, to provide an architecture matching more or less the VP one.

We also were working on light/bulbs effects, like this glow:

Note also the integration inside this FP imported table of the direct DMD from VPM ;)...

More elements to come...

This is the best news I've heard in a while.  If you guys make it modular enough to hand out some work, let me know.

I also might be willing to try and create my game or an existing one in your system with all the new scripting possibilities.
