So what is different from the new version posted here (1.9.1.20101231) and the version currently posted on future pinball (1.9.20081225) other than removing the registry options for arcade lighting and target? Any reason we shouldn't use the older version to retain those registry options?

Having a cabinet to play full screen pins is awesome! Check out my mini pin cab here on VPForums.

Ok, after some better research I now know the difference. The old version has expired. That was very nice of Mr. Leathley to post an updated version to extend the expiration. I wonder if anything else was changed other than removing those options in the registry ... and of course why he removed them.

Yeah, why would he do that? He gives the software out for free but then he does stuff like this. Why have a date restriction on the software anyway. Is he one day hoping to sell the software, there by forcing everyone to pay for it. Then that would make the community a bunch of free beta testers.

He seems to have a love/hate relationship with the community he gives the software to. Is it a power thing? I'm somewhat new to future pinball and was excited to see people discovering ways to make a great program even better. But then Mr. Leathley does this. It's very confusing what his motive is. I've heard in other forums he's displayed other... irrational behavior. I was planning on give some money with the donate button on his main page, but now I'm not sure if I'd be flushing my money down the drain. It's a shame.
End of Line...

Most tables still look ok for me with this setting in the new version like Indiana jones. The lighting is a little bright in some. Does the old 'expired' version not run?

If you donate then consider it a thankyou for everything Black has done in the past rather than for continued development as my personal opinion is that he has lost interest so I dont see much more work being done in the future. Why he removed the ability to adjust the lighting is an unknown.

Because all the people building pincabs, ultimately the nail in the coffin was when a few videos showed up on youtube with the FP watermark removed. I think that is when black really started to lose interest. I personally use the latest version, & could care less about reg settings for lighting & such. Hopefully he comes back & develops more for FP. If not, its good how it is, & VP is advancing quite nicely now that it is open source. Maybe someday black will release it as such if its not going to be worked on anymore

Anything that unsquashes the ball between 10 and 19 should be good, for the angle I think I went from 19 back to 16.

as far as the lighting, I dont have the cab here to check, but the difference is huge.

From first post
'Arcade Light Y' from 0x00005dc (1500) to: 0x000010dc (4316) to get rid of the light glare on the apron!

So I just found out about this registry adjustment thing and it seems like I can't even use it now because the latest version disables it? If I read it correctly I can still adjust the angle settings, but since I cannot change the lighting to compensate for the glare, it's rather useless. Am I understanding this correctly?

Too bad - I have been very frustrated with the "oval ball" issue with arcaderender, making it unplayable for me, and this registry thing would have solved it. I can't believe there isn't another way to do this.

You can find the older version of FP and set your date back on your pc.

Thanks for the info. Not much of an option for me, since changing the date would throw off many of my other programs that use dates. It's really a shame that these have to expire. Not at all necessary.

I think someone wrote a script to set the date when you run FP, and set it back when it closes. It's really not that tough to do each time you play FP.

What I don't understand, was why the lighting registry option was taken out with the update.

I agree. I was so excited at learning about the lighting. For starters, I would have loved playing around with the lighting for fun, just to see what I could do with "night modes". Too bad.

hi there, i never liked the regular FS look of FP but with the anglechange its now pretty damn good! THX a lot

i did everything like you wrote and it worked quite well. but like you said with the newest version of future pinball the lightning is not moveable anymore... which version do i need and where can i find it?!

because the only two FP tables i tried became a too bright bottom. and the playfield appears to be a little bit to dark or is it?

i think its because of the reflection (the angle is ftom the zenith/top).

so would the old version fix that problem or any other idea?

If you install the old version of fp and then just overwrite with new versions exe you can still mess with reg setting smile.gif
