Right again! It was an improperly seated cable. I feel like an idiot!
OK now I need to transfer everything from my cloned old ssd to my new win11 ssd.
Transferring files is no problem but I also need registry stuff?

I think tomorrow I'll try the baller installer and go to 64 bit for everything. I'll still keep PinballY for my front end but I have a few pup pack tables.

If you just want pup and want pinballY front end, then just install PUP only, no baller installer needed

takes like 10 or 5 minutes tops, and that is with sitting through the video (except skipping the talking stuff)

I run this exact setup (a bit better RAM,) but it's bulletproof.  Sitting at a comfortable 4.7ghz and it's not even sweating.  Very budget and user freindly.

I thought baller would install the latest version of VP, VPinmame, Freezy, Flexdmd, B2S, ... automatically without doing it piece by piece, like I did originally.

If one doesnt know what they are doing, use the baller installer and PinUP Popper as a front end.

Otherwise, install things manually and use whatever you want to use.

Thanks Wiess, I had to plop the old board back in to export that stuff. I still have some tweaking to do, like I've lost colour in my DMDs and Future Pinball still has BAM errors (even on the latest version). But there's progress.

The playfield looks sooo much better!

Tomorrow I shoehorn that sucker into the cab. I can't wait!

prevents AV from interfering with FP or VPX ability to run vbs script

 

You can obviously edit out vpx executables you dont have
It is kind of one size fits all

Forgive my ignorance but what is AV ? Audio/video comes to mind.

I tapped into some woodworking skills and got the monitor in the cab on a hinged system where I can swing it up against the backbox.

I'm having trouble with my smart PowerBar. It keeps turning things on and off in an endless cycle.

Have you by chance disabled windows defender?

 

otherwise ErrorId : HRESULT 0xc0000142,Add-MpPreference does not bode terribly well for the OS install

I had to install Realtek audio drivers from the ASUS site to get my SSF working.

However, I don't have any sound in VPX 10.8 but works for VPX 10.7 or 10.6

Sound is back in 10.8

10.8 keeps the settings in %appdata%\vpinballx\vpinballx.ini. if you delete this file, and relaunch vp, it will create a new file based on the settings from vp 10.7 ( the registry keys settings ) Thanks Mike DA Spike

altcolor is between vpinmame and freezys

 

so you'd want the hkey  current user \ software \  freeware key, the whole thing as all your per ROM settings are there

obviously you want your altcolor folders from the vpx\vpinmame\altcolor folder from old cab

and you'd probably want your vpx\vpinmame\dmddevice.ini file also

I already grabbed Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Freeware on Oct 8, and the altcolor files were all copied over along with everything else in the VPinMame folder. The dmddevice.ini hasn't changed.

I even uninstalled VPinMame by running the setup, then reinstalled it (version 3.6). I checked my default settings and paths. I tested some ROMs. They all come out orange or 4 colour, but not full colour.

FlexDMD works in colour on tables like Marty's Mandalorian or JP's Diablo.
