FLEEP'ing awesome mechanical sounds update!

Thanks to the generosity of the amazingly dedicated Fleep... Silent Hill will be getting a very nice mechanical sounds and SSF boost! I asked Fleep if I could use his sounds, and he was more than happy to oblige!

Not only are those sounds so crystal clear and amazing quality.... but there are MANY to use so you don't get the same exact sound each time.

It sounds so good I disabled some other "effects" just so I can hear the fleep sounds more.

I can't go all out and do some of the more fancy stuff he does (like change sounds based on ball velocity, etc).... but it still sounds so good.

The Grand Hotel - Update 4

  • Run to the Church
  • updated lighting
  • Fleep sounds

After inspecting the Hotel, and sacrificial chamber... you need to run to the church, as you hear the eerie siren meaning the Darkness is coming!

Progress in getting this done is going much slower because I'm still sick... but I'm almost done the Grand Hotel Level! This turned out to be a much bigger section that I original expected it to be... and turned out really cool. Can't wait for you guys to see it. I'll do a demo video soon enough.

The updated lighting looks so much better... and the Fleep mechanical sounds are amazing!

As always... when this part is done... much more work to do... as the Hospital is next... and that will be a big part to do. Need to figure out exactly what to try.

I just realized; you are doing this all wrong.

What you want to do is;

Release these all as separate tables, about 2 to 3 months apart.

And to even be able to start the next table, you need to have a data file
containing a successful completion of the previous table.

Of course, the difficulty will have to go up :)

that would be a great idea for tables with a storymode.... :db:

@terry your idea is really great. but i wonder how big are the files for now? they are probably bigger then a standard table that for sure....

It's called... efficiency and re-using things smartly. :)

The Table file right now is 230MB. That's everything so far. Many people don't format their textures in efficient formats. Not all JPEGs are the same... not all TGAs are the same. On RF2, I saved 100MB alone just by converting my 4K playfields to a smaller format with no loss of quality.

I expect around 250MB, before I need to be worried... but maybe not. Some tables are bigger with no issues. I'm holding back alot right now until most of the table is done. When its done... then I can try adding more bling. Things like bump maps can be used on so many more things and look better... but it all adds up. If i have room left over... even more cool eye candy goes back in.

I definitely don't want a split game with episode across multiple games. I hate when PC games do that.

It worked very well for Edgar Rice Burroughs

:)

I liked when the old Gold Box AD&D games did that, and you brought your characters over into the next adventure

Stunning new BAM Ray Cast Ball shadows, lighting, FLEEP sounds... and new look (again)

BAM's latest update allows for stunning new Ray Cast ball shadows for any light. I combined this with new shadowmaps and new updated dynamic lighting to create a stunning new visual look Silent Hill.

I've also been able to upgrade the mechanical sounds thanks to the generosity of FLEEP and his professional quality sounds! Simply stunning in SSF!

I've been sick for the last 2+ months, so I haven't been able to get as much done as I would like... but progress is still pushing on... and I'm loving the results!

This video demo shows off the new feature nicely. It also shows my updates for all the other levels, and gives a sneak peek at the new levels for the Grand Hotel, Sacrificial Chamber, and Church.

A complete playthrough demo of the Grand Hotel levels is coming soon.

Silent Hill (PinEvent) - The Grand Hotel - full gameplay

(note - graphic content included)

The next chapter of Silent Hill (PinEvent) takes us to the mysteries of The Grand Hotel, Room 111, and the Sacrificial Chamber. Then you must survive MONSTER MULTIBALL and get to the Church!

I've been sick for the last 2 months, so progress on getting this done has been SLOW... but I finally have the Grand Hotel levels completed!

I also included a new MONSTER MULTIBALL mode. This is a bit different in that you are trying to "escape" the 5 ball multiball mode. If you drain to only 1 ball left, the game will continue to feed you 4 more balls! You need to hit the Armless Monster many times, and also evade the Grey Children many times, while also trying not to hit Pyramid Head! He no like that!

I've also added some new random ambient / scary sounds that will go off when you least expect them. If you have a SSF setup... you'll hear creepy things screaming inside your cabinet! If you have a Home Theatre 5.1 / 7.1 setup, then you will hear them all around you!

Next, I will start working on the Hospital levels. This, like the school, will probably end up being pretty big, so we'll see how that turns out. One thing for sure... it will have nurses and be friggin' creepy!

OK... I'm chalking this up to being "pinball-related".

After so many years of absence, rumors, disappointments, and cancellations of anything Silent Hill related by Konami...

HOLY FRIGGINS SHITTIN' AMAZE-BALLS!

A Silent Hill 2 remake game is coming!

New Silent Hill movie (from the creators of the "first" movie) is coming which is also based on Silent Hill 2

3 other Silent Hill games are coming!

This is pinball related because this is now REALLY going to inspire me to get the Halloween and F-14 Pinevent V2 updates done, so I can get my ass back to working on my Silent Hill pinball game!

As a die-hard Silent Hill "fan"... today's announcements are almost hard to believe being true.

Happy Halloween from Silent Hill

I didn't have time to make a new video for this year's Halloween, so I figured I'd show my video from last year for those who may have never seen it. The table looks very different today compared to this video... but its still fun!

I still haven't been able get back to working on Silent Hill yet. After I'm done updating "Halloween - Big Bloody Mike" and "F-14" for PinEvent V2 and FizX, etc... then I'll be glad to get back to work on Silent Hill. Some newer Future-Pinball-BAM updates and FizX physics will make the table MUCH better than it would have been before.

These new Silent Hill game and movie announcements have got me so damn excited to get back to it!

Terry I watched your YouTube videos on all your pinball tables.    It made me get a pinball machine so I could enjoy your tables.

I can not believe the level of detail each of your newer tables have.   Its been three days and I wanted to let you know that your tables got me into owning a pinball machine.   I'm having a blast.

so far Halloween is my favourite table.   I look forward to playing this new Silent Hill table when you release it.

It's been a very hard year 1.5 years for me (since having my stroke and other things)... but working on (many) table updates and learning so much, creating PinEvent V2, and learning how to use JLou's awesome FizX to change FP physics for the better, has kept me busy while waiting for heart surgery. Well that date is coming very soon.... and the last of the PinEvent V2 updates are finally done!

So, I'm here to say... I'm taking a break...

...from working on anything else....

...except for THIS table... for a long time.... until (hopefully) it's done!

I am SO excited to return to the fog and otherworld of Silent Hill!

Hey Terry your work is always appreciated, but your health moreso :)  Get yourself right and we will be here with bells on upon your return!

Also, I would like to remind everyone that in case you're having a 'meh' day to watch this video and pay close attention to the silver-death-baby in the decrepit loo by the habitral.

He/She is just gettin' it.

Great looking table. I'm more of a silent hill 2 fan and don't like the movies that much but this captures the silent hill vibe very well.

Good luck with the table and with your health.
