Still having a problem with the AN staying on top. On HH mostly the credits and the Ball in Play are on top but the score is always hidden under the BG. stayontop = true is set in the ini. Bring b2s to front is unchecked! When i shut down the BG and leave the AN on the screen i can move the Windows explorer around behind the AN windows and they stay on top no matter what i do. It's just not working with the BG. I'm 100% sure it's a problem on my end but i'm stuck!

Oh you're talking about the segment display. The glow is still rendered if you make the background transparent?

That might help. As soon as i move the AN over a brighter colour the glow is showing (fully transparent).

But that might look like the "Modulate" thing for lights in VPX. Very "solid". But worth a try?

@freezy

It is still renderd but not visible on a very dark colour. When i move it over a brighter colour it's visible. I just don't know why it handles the black background in DMDext differently then the black from an external image.

One thing that i found is if you go with a fully transparent background in DMDext the glow is renderd as black with fading transparency. You can't see black on black. For some reason the glow loses it's colour when background is set to transparent. You can even see this in the preview in the settings box. I also put a white windows background behind the ingame transparent AN's. Look at the "AN opaque white background.png" . This has a white opaque background from DMDext. You can see the glow is renderd in green. Go to your settings window and switch the background colour between white opaque and fully transparent and watch the preview.

https://1drv.ms/u/s!...c-LG1A?e=PjqoNJ

Still no luck with most of the AN's beeing hidden behind the b2s! Any suggestions? Your DMD's seems to work well. Even Gilligan's Island with the DMD on the 2nd screen works 100% of the time! One thing i noticed was if i open the settings window for AN it stays hidden behind the b2s. I have to close the b2s to be able to change settings. It also feels a bit notchy on my cab like the sliders move only with 1 fps. No big deal, but it might help. Seems the a lot of CPU / GPU power goes to the b2s and it gets all the attention.

Hot off the press...

...thanks to the excellent work from MrMoose74 and freezy..... we finally have Future Pinball working with dmdext.exe!

...and the styles and glow look nice with a quick test.

DRxjPjz.png

4hrSBXG.png

....and yes many people are very happy about it.... not just me :)

This not only allows for LCD DMD users to have a much nicer looking DMD (and we use dmdext.exe instead of FutureDMD).... but it also allows for real DMD users to have the benefits of dmdext.exe with FP as well.

Thanks gents!

One problem solved! AN and DMD are now staying on top! When changing to a new b2s exe version you have to check "Run as as Admin" or it won't work! I just replaced it without thinking! Sorry!

Still no luck with the transparency for AN.

Normally, that's the case... but I think the 4:1 ratio is what keeps it from getting any better.

When I uploaded the RetroFlair 2 preview it took 2 days before the 4K option showed up.

I tried to quote Terry, but didn't work. The spirit of the comment was that I too was excited for the future pinball integration.

So I tried the 1.9 beta this morning and it was causing some micro stutter in my gameplay. As soon as I reverted back to 1.8 that micro stutter went away. My GPU is a 1070, so it might be on the edge of being capable of handling the updated DMD. Is there something I should try to fix this?

I am experiencing stutter as well. I am using the installer from the first post as well (32 bit). i couldn't find a x64 installer. Might that be a cause for the stutter?

The style options in 1.9 look gorgeous though! but i will revert to 1.8 to have fluent gameplay. I am on a GTX 1650 at 1080p.

Unless you are going to the wrong place, it would be impossible not to be able to find the 64bit version

 are you going to https://ci.appveyor..../dmd-extensions

VPX does not use the 64bit anyways

As for the stutter, you would have to look at your set up
I am running 1.9 R22 on this laptop, which has no GPU at all
and i am running table backglass and DMD and 1.8 vs 1.9, there is no difference as far as that part goes

I have the same issue too. No problem with the 1.8, but i am expreriencing stutter with the 1.9. I test it with 2 fresh install, i have the same issue on both with my i5-4460 and GTX1660Ti.

I've got an issue where it crashes visual pinball if i run a table more than once.

if i restart visual pinball it works fine again, until i try to run a table more than once it will crash again.

fiddling around with the DmdDevice.ini I've noticed this only happens when i set:
[alphanumeric]

enabled = true

set to true crashes all tables even if they use the dmd and not the alphanumeric display.

set it to false and i can play a table as many times as i like.

this is on a clean install and a fresh DmdDevice.ini

**Edit

I've got a visual pinball crash.dmp

if that's any use to you i can upload it
