$120 cash to a local guy who puts displays on windows and runs his business out of his van (presume he prints at home).  What can I say, it was the thing that I spent the most time getting pricing on.  I too had lots of crazy prices.  I've had this guy do both sets for me, he even delivered hem to me at work!  Stuzza provided a great set of HUGE pdf files that this bloke took and printed on a really heavy duty vinyl with a laminate coat.

I'd encourage you to keep looking.  I think I ended up talking to at least 12 places - the prices just varied soooo much.

Thats a fantastic price. Problem with Cairns being so small in comparison to the larger cities. I'll keep at it.

Alright guys, need a little (more) help.

I have stuzza finishing my art up and I am looking for the general (tried and tested by others) locations for the buttons and coin door on the front of the cab.

My front panel is 630mm wide and 400mm high. It is Williams Widebody metric specs.

I'm looking for 3 buttons on the left and a launch button only on the right. The virtuapin faux coin door will be in the centre.

If anyone can provide some assistance with placement I really would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT - So my coin door is 345mm by 300mm. This leaves 142.5mm either side of the coin door and 50mm top and bottom.

Button placement for the launch on the right and 3 buttons on the left would be centred but how high and at what spacing?? Thanks.

Thats awesome DDH69. Very much appreciated.

Is your coin door slightly higher than centre?

The buttons positions are of great help.

I built a Williams wide body size.  I took the measurements from my Indian Jones machine.

The coin door position is really set by the bolt that goes through to the lock down bar assembly if you're using one.

This is what I love about this forum.

I had no idea about the coin door and the bolt for the lock down assembly, which I am using.

Learn something new every day.

Artwork from Stuzza is now finished. I'll reveal soon.

So here is the final artwork.

FINAL CABINET small

It is exactly what I wanted, even though at the beginning of the process I wasn't sure what that was.

I couldn't find one of his previous artwork that grabbed me without wanting some minor changes for me, but when I sat down and really thought of it, Fallout 4 was all I could think of.

Stuzza was excellent to deal with throughout, very helpful and so fast with everything.

I reckon this will look excellent once on the cab.

I know its a deviation from the mainstream pinball art, but its mine and that's what I wanted (for this cab). :P

I think it's gonna look just great ! Now this artwork screems for some custom colored legs, maybe red, or a sandcolor.

I'm sure the local carguys can set you up with some eye popping colors......if you want to go that road.

I must admit Nemo, I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to pinball legs, I like them chrome, but I reckon you are right, red would really pop. I have purchased the legs already from Paul at VirtuaPin but theres not harm in looking at the spray on vinyl all the kids are using for their mags wheels.

Nice idea and definitely worth considering.

re etching... BUGGA THAT!!!  I would be upping them for the rent and not except that. Etching was never a question with mine and we use a lot of it for our photography. No way could we have etching on our art and at no time has anyone ever mentioned that we should do it due to AU Standards.  Man you are much cooler than me... I'd be f'n fuming! ;)

re printing.  I'm going to go talk to Mark at the lab (inkjetlab.com.au) in Briz Vegas this week and take up Stuzza's Ironman psd for him to look at.  The gear is all there for printing/laminating this stuff, it's just a market that we have never really talked about. Shipping anywhere would not be a problem and be no more than about $20 I reckon. It's only a tube roll after all.  We send large "heavy" Acrylic mounted prints all over Oz and they only cost me $45 to ship.

Cheers Rusty, I've got half a dozen quotes from everywhere in at the moment, so far $385 is the cheapest local (Aussie) print solution (actually here in Cairns strangely enough) but still $250 for the US to have them done and shipped here is the cheapest by far.

As for the glass, Im over it at the moment, I may get the tom tits when the glass goes on when I finish the build but for now, live and learn. Hard to complain too hard when it was a mate of a mate.

I just started drilling some parts of the cab but was given a cease and desist order by the wife as the bub is sleeping. I'm champing at the bit to get some work done on the cab. I may have to take a day off work to get things really moving but thats not likely in the short term.

Found a 12 inch monitor locally on gumtree but the bloke hasn't responded, sounds like a nice DMD size.

Got the long weekend next weekend but the misses has booked two nights away (with the kids) so no work will be done then either. She still wants me to paint some rooms.

I think I may just play some pinball instead.

Buy the way Nemo, Plasti Dip was the stuff I was thinking of. It may look good and they do a nice red. This idea is gaining momentum.

Well the bub woke up and I got to work on the cabinet. Puttying up the screw holes.

Decided to check out the lock down bar and cut out the hole for the door. This probably would have been a whole lot easier if done prior to glue & screw but first timers....

This meant I had to cut it freehand with an oscillating tool. It did a good enough job considering I have a fascia around the hole, if not for that it would be considered shocking.

Pretty happy with how it turned out and the level of the lock down bar, note in the picture it looks a little off but it isn't screwed in and slipped a touch for the pic.

Here are the pics.

I dropped in to see Mark this morning and he is working up a quote to print and laminate Stuzza's art.  He was very impressed with your IronMan work btw Stuzza ;)

I suggested that he offer the choice of a full gloss laminate and a satin.  Gloss looks awesome, but there will be lots of reflections.... so some may prefer a satin finish.  It would be easier to dust and keep clean I think, but each to his own.

One thing though, unless it's a commissioned piece from Stuzza, a little fiddle room may be needed in the preparation to fit individual cabs (we haven't all made them the same), as well as removing white button/coindoor/legs sections.  (This is easily done for those familiar with Photoshop)

Anyway, we will see how the price goes.  Being a fully equipped professional photolab, Mark may not be able to compete with "back of the van" prices ;) but he will certainly compete on quality, with only the best inks and materials being used.

Cool Rusty, nice work. If its not far removed from the US price I would rather buy locally (even if locally means the other end of the state).

The local sign shops here (and theres a thousand of them being a tourist town) are taking liberties. Some close to $500, not installed. Cray Zee.

Polymetric Self Adhesive Vinyl laminated in either Satin or Gloss - $280 inc Au Delivery.

Normal delivery time 7 Days.

* Final trimming to be completed by user.   Perhaps Stuzza can chime in here... are you allowing bleeds/overlaps? If so, what's the norm?

* I'm happy to help those without photoshop make the final fit adjustments if needed. I can't design tables or do art like Stuzza, so it would be my little way of giving back to the VP community that has helped me so much.

Sign me up. Sold. Done. Shake the hand. Do the deal.

Cracking price mate.

With mine Stuzza did allow a bleed of 1cm all around to my exact cabinet specs which are pretty much Williams Widebody (bar a few mm here and there). Not sure if those have been done for the standard free art though.

I can't wait, should we deal direct with the guys at the lab or would they prefer to go through you Rusty??

There is no need for me to get involved, unless someone needs some help with final photoshopping for cab size or whatever, so I'm happy for people to deal with Mark direct if their art is complete "sized to cab" and "ready to print".

I just don't want this turning into a headache for the lab, if people are using Stuzza's free non-commissioned works without actually considering if they will fit the cabs they have made.  I'd hate to see prints coming back with "It doesn't fit" complaints when all the lab has done is print what was supplied.

Stuzza if you're reading this, are you happy for me to make final "cab size" adjustments with your art, or would you rather people come back to you to adjust your non-commissioned works? Either way, I'm cool with it.... it's your art after all.

...and with regard to yours BV3, I'd actually like to get involved just to see the first one go through and to be on the spot as it get's printed. I'd like to ensure that all is OK, plus also grab some photos of it to use within the forums.  So you make contact with Mark direct and then he can let me know when to drop in to the lab.

------------

Oh and btw.... Anybody reading this and going direct to Mark at the lab, it would be great if you mention me to Mark so he knows where the referrals are coming from, that way I can hit him up for a bottle of scotch at Christmas ;)
