2 things
1 - We do not have A VPX61setup.zip  for the all-in-one installer
2 - Every once in a while somebody will post that there UltraDMD does not work after using the All-in-one (almost) installer

Is this the version that's in the all-in-one installer?  –UltraDMD version 1.4.16050500
https://ultradmd.wor...s.com/download/

Tom over on PinballX just created an installer for UltraDMD/XDMD with some updated features.  I wonder if his version should be considered for the all-in-one installer since the official version is pretty dated.

First i would like to thank every one involved in this new version.

I downloaded the 10.7 installer but am just using the 10.7 EXE. file in my 10.6 cabinet and not the installer itself.

My question is am i missing some features of the installer or is this all i really need?

I have not tested all of my tables but so far i have not had any problems.

Thanks

I tried the installer, even if I didn't really needed, and it installs everything you need and it includes now FlexDMD, replacing UltraDMD. And the installer worked perfectly registering everything and ready to play.

I lost the DMD on certain tables (Ultra/Flex DMD and some 3rd screen DMD like Black Knight 2000). Also the "Q" letter don't work anymore to exit a table. I did not back up my old settings so now I'm in a need for help please

The installer packages VPinballX.exe which is always the latest final .exe (=10.7 now).

Does/should the AIO installer include pinup player components, or is that a no-no because they normally live outside the main visual pinball folder?

(just wondering as that is a dependency for more tables these days)

No, as it would be a hinderance to those who are not running any pinup stuff and would complicate things
plus Pinup is maintained and updated independently, and i am not sure the source is open.

Nailbuster maintains his own AIO installer tailored to the running of Pinup

Well it does say it's an almost AIO installer doesn't it?  ;)

Maybe instead a note and a link to the download location for standalone pinup player in the description would be of help to newbs.

I discovered that FLEXDMD version 1.8.1 (thats is NOT compiled on Github, but code is on github), improved some video enhancements. Version 1.8.0 can only play WMV and 1.8.1 can play also MP4 and AVI (and maybe more, depends on which codecs are available on your system.

See https://www.vpforums...=43569&p=510907

Maybe this updated version can be added to the AIO installer ? (with a reg cleaner before setting up FlexDMD)

I was going to say it is already compiled, but i just realized it has expired (Actions only remain valid for a few months)

I can run the other video formats in 1.8.0, but it wont run just any old AVI or MP4, like we were discussing before

WMV is easy because your choices are
Container: type WMV
Encoder: WME 9 or WME 9

AVI and MP4 are like
Container type?  Well do you want AVI or MP4
Encoder? Oh well hell, would you like HEVC? MPEG? MPEG2 is nice, How about DiVX or F4V? Oooh how about motion jpeg?

I would have to go on my other PC and see what the saved template i had for DMD video was
but there is a whole bunch of choices and only one way worked.
If you happen to have adobe premier, take a peek at what jacked up stuff you can do to an avi or mp4

WMV though is a lot simpler
1) no user will find themselves lacking the correct codes, they have windows, they have the codecs guaranteed unless they dont have windows
2) file size tends to be smaller than the other supported options
3) Author does not need to go making sure they have the same codec other people are using, make media and windows and it's a given

(and maybe more, depends on which codecs are available on your system.

Key words
I can make a MP4 video that you cant play back, but it works for me
then i have to tell you, oh you have to download, or buy ABC codec to play the DMD

PS you dont have to clean registry before swapping out flexDMD versions

i used to ping pong between release and betas all the time

PPS user beware, i seem to recall that vbousquet did not release 1.8.1 because there were still some minor issues
and he had not the time to tinker with them, may want to check with him

True, if you leave them in the same directorie, but I had mine installed in a flexdmd directory, and put the aio i staller to update it.
That puts the flex in the vpinmame directory.
The interface looks fine, but it uses the dll from the old path (even after clicking unregister and register)
It was just a finding and see that multiple people has issues to get flex working. For me, it was fixed by cleaning my registry (or copy the files to the old location, but want to be consistent and not a lot of files in differrent directories)

Both flexDMD and Freezy's are recommended to be in vpinmame folder

You can get flexDMD to work elsewhere, you have to re-run flexDMDUI though, uninstall it, then
of course remove the other flexDMD files, then set it up from the other location

Freezys is configurationless, as far as it's path goes, and as one is dependent on the other, may as well let them live together.

I mean, you could use symbolic links, but thats a pain to do just for a few little files, unless you are beta testing new versions, a lot.

No, not using symbolic links.
But when my first install of flexdmd was done(couple of years ago?), it was in a differrent folder as where the aio installer placed it
Unregister and register through the app DIDN'T fix the initial path for me. Maybe it was just a one off for me

If you have a working version of flexdmd, you should not install ultradmd.
Flexdmd can run ultradmd code as well.
Just check your flexdmd installlation and run the ultradmd test
