fren & randr,

Thanks for your suggestions. I've confirmed that the drain is set to legacy and the scripts folder has all the latest scripts, but I'm still getting the problem. I had been putting my scripts in my Tables folder, but creating a new Scripts folder for them didn't make a difference. The problem seems to usually or always happen when the ball drains forcefully. It appears to roll right over the top of the apron and then disappear over near the plunger. Since no one else seems to have experienced this, it must be on my end, but I can't figure out what I'm doing that would affect only this table.

Tom

Fren and dev team,

Love the new tables -- Sopranos and Kingpin. Personally I really like that these are ultra dark. Matches the content - rough stuff (especially Sopranos).

The plastic models on Sopranos are a crack up - so effective. Sopranos reminds me of Elvis in that you guys have managed to pack a whole little world into the playfield monitor. I get some stutter with this table, but that's to be expected given all the visual treats and the beta status. I like the use of flood lights on this table. Quite dramatic.

Kingpin is awesome. I especially like the way everything "goes red" when you hit a certain sequence. The mechanical sounds you chose are really nice.

Thanks for releasing these betas as a pair. Super fun hard-hitting duo.

Happy Holidays, gang!

This was happening to me too on Sopranos. But, my experience is different in that updating to the (now second to latest) VPX exe and VBS scripts solved the problem for me.

I've tried both Beta 2435 and Beta 2442 without luck. It's the ball draining from the "Fish Kicker" that invariably causes the problem.

Darkness complaints: (I'm bored of these)

I'm not going to move a slider or swap out an HDR image and upload a new version just to cater to pedants. You have the most basic functions available to you in the VP editor, in fact you've got the same ones I have! When it comes to complaints about personal taste, fucking try to do something on your own, and you'll feel good.

Ah... ok thanks for explaining. I think I know what you're talking about, I had a similar issue on AMH. Let me find what my fix was and I'll get a new version up.

A darker version, even

Wait you lose the ball over the apron? like it goes off the table? That one is new

An update to my Gemini (Gottlieb 1978) table.  DOF to new method, new backglass image, targets and drops to vp10 elements, adjusted lighting and physics, changed options menu to hold down left flipper key method.  I've slowed the table down some, but it can still play pretty fast, and is still a drain monster.  :)

Also TKO, Pyramid, and Space Walk are all fairly recent upgrades and all seem to work fine for  me on the latest beta.

You give me an updated table, I long for a better version.

You make it dark, I long for it to be lighter.

You make me what I want and Im not content.

Always looking for something I'm getting for free to be the way I want it!

About the Sopranos disappearing ball, Zocky, in a post earlier today, seemed to be reporting the same issue. I was unfamiliar with this table and initially failed to raise the flippers in reaction to the Fish Kicker. A better, more experienced player might never have discovered it.

Well not sure if you're saying the ball is going off the table or it's going straight to the drain and not registering. I think it's the drain not registering, which is an issue I had on AMH however it was the same kicker. This is kicking from one kicker to another and not registering which is very bizarre to me and hard to fix, maybe a VPM timer issue or something. I'm looking into it though!

The strange ball behavior I experienced on Sopranos involved the ball heading for the center drain, but instead of draining, rolling "on top" of the apron and toward the lower right corner of the table. Happened twice before updating. Hasn't happened since. My VBS files are mixed in with my table files. Not sure if that matters.

In any case, thanks for looking into it, Fren. Playing and thoroughly enjoying Sopranos right now as a matter of fact. You guys have done a "killer" job - pardon the ridiculous pun!

Simply selecting the fish kicker in the editor and ticking the little box that says "Timer Enabled" seems to fix the fish kicker launching the ball over the flipper and onto the apron problem.  :)

Also - I love the way the safe looks when it cracks open. Awesome!

After blasting the safe, the ball came in hot and landed on the apron. First time this has happened unrelated the fish kicker.

Isn't the fix for going up on the apron lowering the glass heigh?

That's concerning. I've never seen the ball leave the playfield like that without hitting a ramp first. I didn't spend much time with the last 2 beta releases on Sopranos so possibly they added something new but not likely related to ball behavior...

I have a light on top of the playfield that gets cropped if you adjust the pf glass height (below 300 I think) or the z position on backdrop. Though a fix could simply be putting an invisible wall around the apron to block it if can't be fixed elsewhere

As you may know I only work with desktop mode tables, so my FS settings may be a little off :) Thanks hauntfreaks for your FS settings for TOTAN. Looking closer to TOTAN in FS I see that I cut the genie's hand a little too much, and the material for the lamp doesn't work so good for the FS version because of the lightning. So for the FS version you need to change a few things: the flashers for the Genie eyes (they are in layer 8, almost alone), and change the material for the lamp to Plastic, then the lamp will look more like the real lamp, but you'll miss some light on it. I'll see if I fix those 2 things in the next revision :)

So for now, TOTAN in FS, using hauntfreaks setings: change the height of the eyes flashers to 269 and 269,5 (on layer 8) and change the material lamp to Plastic and it will look like this: (press the 2 key to see the flashers on, debug key :) ):

I think Ben and I are describing the same thing, except that updating hasn't helped me. In any event, it sounds like Fren has the information he needs. Both of these tables really are incredible! Thanks.

it was great to see Assassin did Centaur .... plays terrific , I did find an issue, when the flippers are both up at the same time... the opening isn't big enough for the ball to pass thu.... I know I could go in there as  move the flippers or change up the dimensions.... didnt want to do this because i didnt know what the right setting would be...

23495919889_0191127802_z.jpg

I'm bumping this because I think it got stuck in the dark force ..... anyone one what the correct size of the flippers should be... is it an eyeball thing??.... is there a standard distance between flippers in the up position??
