It was created to allow for shots straight up the middle. So, the higher the value, the more up the middle the shot tends to go, I believe.

Some of these things are vague, since there has never really been a manual for the latest settings.

Now i found some REAL good Values!! 4,5 Oblique is perfect!! ( Combined with other Settings )

Now it feels more like the Real Table. Center or Ramp Shots are now much better from rolling or holding Balls.
At the Weekend I will fix the Flashers, and add a new Clock Image ( too dark for my taste ), and then making an update.

My current VPX Tables I am working on:

Attack from Mars/Finished - The Walking Dead Pro/90% - The Lord of the Rings/75% - Family Guy/90% - The Simpsons Pinball Party/15%

Great job, GRONI! The big table view makes my old CRT monitors much more tolerable. good.gif

The 68, -68 flipper end angles worked better for me, though. hmm.gif

A beautiful table that's fun to play. yahoo.gif

I have to agree, after changing the flipper angle to 68,-68 and the oblique correction to 4.5 I was finally able to break 250 million on this table Groni. Fantastic table!!

Can the operator of real pinball tables change the flipper angle? The point is not how much you can score...the point is how much closer it is to the real table..

Well, with all the different possible settings between real tables, point score could IMO also be a valid indicator of how a table plays that you know very well. It sure works for me when comparing all the versions of Indy '93 that are out now! But honestly, scoring is not my first concern, I rather playtest the physics feel of the table and how easy/hard it is to make the main shots. With VP9 there sure are a lot of different parameters to play with!

Also, physics aren't related only to "how the flippers hit the ball", but they play a major role on how real a table feels no matter the gameplay..for example, in many VP tables (mostly older) when the ball goes through some ramps it behaves very unnaturaly (like there is no friction or contact with the ramp's surfaces) this might not change the gameplay so much, but it changes the feel...it feels fake when you watch it.. When the ball rides a ramp, many times touches the sides of the ramp and of course its driven by a relatively narrow area of plastic or metal..this makes it behave differently because of some slow downs and fine route changes, caused by friction and hitting on the sides..

Sound is also a very basic parameter on the perception of a ball's movement. When a real ball rolls and hits various objects/surfaces make much more sounds than in VP tables..i can imagine that this can be simulated with a lot of work inside the script, but it seems that it is a very time consuming feature for a table author..

I really wish for an open source VP...this will eventually bring algorithms inside, that will automatically take care of micro sounds the ball makes on its contacts with other objects...

..maybe FlashVP will be able to handle sound events like these in the future... (P.S. : I saw the new FlashVP Monopoly and its incredible...its like a VP that has a good 3d engine..well done to the developer!!)

The Table has been updated to Version 1.1

Changes from 1.0 > 1.1

Added new Clock Image
Adjusted CTR Physics
Fixed the Gumball Sound Delay
Fixed the Camera Delay. Ball kicks out during "Bumpers Added" Sound.
Fixed the "Dance" Problem in the Bumpers

Also the Upper Left Flipper is adjusted. Shoiting the Piano is easier now
Adjusted Right Upper Flipper. Shooting Camera is easier now

The Flippers have the correct Values now. Every Shot is possible, from rolling or holded Balls.

Bumper Flasher will be fixed in a later Version.
The Plastic Bumper Flasher is working, which is parralel to the Bumper Flasher.

Much thanks Groni! I haven't really played this table much since its release. I absolutely can not wait to give this baby a go.

I've never really played Twilight Zone before except for a brief 5 mins with the actual pin when I visited Joystix in Houston.
Thankfully I live in Houston, so I'm planning to go there again in the next month or so. It's great for playing the newer Stern pins that haven't been emulated, along with the classics!

Anyone else living in Houston should definitely check it out, $15 I believe for free play on all machines the first/last Friday of every month. There is an attached bar also!
A nice 5-6 hour window to get your moneys worth and plenty of machines to go around.

GREAT update GRONI!

This version plays a lot more accurately than the initial release. After playing a few games, however, I still have a few critiques to express...

The table overall plays a bit too fast. (I guess both of us have that problem with our latest releases laugh.gif)
The flow is nice and the speed for the most part is good, however the ball seems to get going a little too fast here and there especially after a few loop shots or while exiting the bumpers. Maybe a slower maxspeed will help calm this?
Otherwise, from a play perspective, you've done a standup job on a table with very unique gameplay.

Some of the sound effects seem to 'irk' me a bit.
I've never heard a ball make such a loud sound when hitting a standup target, maybe the volume is a little out of proportion?
Same with the clock sounds... They are so loud that it is a bit distracting when the hands move. Maybe the gears in that box need to be loosened or greased a bit tongue.gif

If you could make a few subtle changes here and there, this would be an even better table IMO.

Keep up the good work, I'm eager to see what you can do with NGG.

Oh Damnit smile.gif I always forget about that MaxSpeed Value in my Tables smile.gif

The Clock Sound is ok. I have recorded it on a real machine, also the balance of the sound. I guess the loudness is different on different machines.
I just adjusted it from the Machine I played in real life.

This is strange but...............

With 1.0 I had NO PROBLEM hitting the piano with the upper left flipper.

with 1.1, I can't hit the paino...ever!....... ( and I tried hundreds of times )

I can hit the camera with either version

any reason why this should be so?

You have 3 options...

1. Uncheck Hardware Graphic Rendering, which will reduce the quality of the graphics.

or

2. Change the Preferences > Video Options to a lower resolution, which will maintain the rendering, but you will be at a lower resolution.

or

3. Get another nvidia graphics card with more on board memory, which might work, might not.

btw I have the same problem with a few VP9 tables when tring to run them @ 1600x1200 with hardware rendering on a nvidia 6800GS 256MB, some work, some don't. I usually go for option 2 and run them at 1280x1024 instead, all have worked for me at this lower resolution.

The Table has been updated to Version 1.2

Changes from 1.1> 1.2

Adjusted Physics
Piano Shot and Camera Shot is much easier now!
Targetsound a bit lower
Added a Maxball Speed
Added new Powerball ( First Ball in the Menu)

Now its really much easier to hit the camera and the piano. Also the Ballspeed is a bit lower now. That has a nice affect and
solved the Problem that the Ball sometimes do not register on the right ramp.
I scored a 1.5 B with the new Settings, so I guess its better now. Not to hard, and not to easy. Just like the real table.

Have Fun
