I don't believe work will start on a VPX version until VPX is out of beta, however with that being said I am pleased to inform you that I've been working with Javier on a PM5 version. When I say work with I mean he's doing all the real VP editor work and I'm just testing the $h!^%$ out of it and doing my best to provide input of how to make it play more like the real thing.
The conversion to PM5 is nearly done but I want to be thorough with testing before any release.
Noteworthy improvements:
- PM5 physics, ball spinning, nice flipper control, ball gravity, friction. - Javier has a lot of good PM5 experience.
- Raptor kicker will now (violently) fire ball to left flipper as seen on the real table (previously was going towards the right).
- Scoops - ball can no longer enter scoops from behind (pop bumpers would frequently throw ball into scoops from behind/above.)
Sadly I don't think this update will include ball rolling/collision since apparently the way the table was set up originally by bmiki made it very difficult to do this. Jimmyfingers had managed to get it working but never finished that version of the table and since became busy with more important matters. My hope is that perhaps collision can be added afterwards...I'd like to hear the sound effects as much as anyone else but it's just out of my hands so I'm not going to worry about it.
The flying dinos no longer wobble as much due to the PM5 conversion, Javier did his best to make them wobble, and considering they barely moved at all initially I think he did a decent job.
One thing I've been contemplating with this table is the idea of maybe having an "easy" setting via script, once enabled would just increase post size or position to close the gaps a bit on the out lanes. I know this table is known for mean out lanes in reality but I feel like the out lanes are super mean and some users might appreciate the option to make it a bit friendlier? I swear every time the ball bounces off the out lane plastics it will never bounce back into the table, it always bounces out to the drain. Any thoughts?
