Hi guys

First of all. I dont take preorders yet. As mentioned, I will order a few prototype boards and once I have them here (hope to get them by mid of july) I will have do check the quality of the boards and do to a lot of testing to ensure that the SMD hardqare work well. This is necessary, since all previous version of the hardware have been a classical through the hole design. If these tests are OK, taking orders and and ordering more boards will be next. Make sure you follow this topic, since I'll post a update on the progress once in a while.

Now about the questions in the previous posts:

• Picture of the backboard
  Cant separate the cover that easily to make a pic. Will need to unmount the backboard to make some pics.Will try to do that or draw a small plan soon.
   
• Can backpanel substitute the flashers?
  Yes they can, but personnaly I still prefer to have flasher as well. Since makeing the configs for the backboard and remaining ledstrips takes quite a bit of time, I wrote a small script which can generate backboard configs from the flasher configs (basicaly translating every flasher into a 20% area of the backpanel). So just using those leds as a flasher replacement is easy, but it is just a makeshift, since there are much funnier things which can be done with those strips. • What sort of led strips would be ideal?
  Strips and other products which are based on the WS2811 and/or WS2812(B) from Worldsemi should work OK. Strips with WS2801 and WS2803 or other types of pixel controllers do not work.
  The Neopixel products from Adafruit (they have a few other cool Neopixels products than strips with which should work as well) should be fine. The strip from ebay seems to be of the right type as well. @SEALen: The price on ebay seems to be extremely low, so please let us know about your experience if your order from there.
  The density of the leds on the strips (60, 144 and 30 led per meter are common) does not matter for DOF. You just tell DOF the number of leds on the strip so DOF knows what to work with and in the table configs all effect definits for the strips define which percentage at which position (also expressed as percentage) of the  of the strip should be controlled. Like that the configs will work the same no matter how many leds there are on a strip. In my cab, I have used strips with 60leds per meter and at least for me, thats dense enough.
  One thing to keep in mind:
  These ledstrips can consume a lot of power. Every led can consume up to 60ma (3*20ma for every base color). So for one meter of the stripe with 60 leds the strip requires 3.6A (e.g. the +-300leds in my cab can consume up to 18A). Voltage is 5V. So be wise and plan for a strong powersupply (Meanwell always worked well here).

The mailman just passed by. Look what I've got.

 

Still need to test them, install firmware and so on. Since I'll be of for vacation in a few days, this might take 2-3 weeks.
