Wow not sure how I missed all this but thank you Fuzzel I will throw it in and test it tonight..

Cool quick and easy to setup.. Nice use of hyperpin files :) all my VP tables have videos so I couldent see them unless I made table images.. Support for the f4v files and a little work on the wheel and it will be awsome. Very Fast! Thank you! :otvclap:

Order by date sounds awesome, i think its the most 'logical' sorting, too..

I agree it would be cool, but it would be great if either by date or alphabetical, if these can be switched via the settings menu and not need an exit/restart. As an option, I would love this but the alphabetical is still very useful and my preferred choice, especially when I have company as it happens all the time when someone will say "do you have embryon, evil knevil, eight ball, jokerz, etc" and there's no way I will remember the year it was made!

I agree, having the option would be cool, wouldn't want to totally get rid of alpha though.

Ok noted...just to check if I have understood you: you want an option to switch sorting between alphabetical <> table release year/date?

Yes, switchable would be awesome. Pressing both flipper buttons together to switch perhaps? :)

Manufacturing date doesn't work that bad for guests most of the time - but most guests I have weren't that much into pinball at the time and don't have any favorites.

"Use the flipper buttons. Here is 1990. To the left it gets older. To the right it gets newer."

Edit:

Ok noted...just to check if I have understood you: you want an option to switch sorting between alphabetical <> table release year/date?

Yes, that would be awesome.

And... could you let it accept 6 digits (YYYYMM) for manufacturing date in addition to YYYY?

Because, some people, uh, may be nutty enough to look up manufacturing date and month on IPDB for 200+ tables... :tapping:

Yes, you can call the lists "alphabetical" and "chronological" ;) but it does not need to be done via some shortcut, via the genre/settings works me thinks. Selectable in the same menu as selecting manufacturer, VP only, FP only, etc is good.

Anyone can think of other must- have sorts?

One other feature request that has come up time and time again is inclusion of music (whether have like a mini jukebox that randomly plays mp3s/oggs/wavs from a folder during table selection OR have set songs assigned to set tables (if you don't already have music encorporated into the videos themselves).

HP was very slow for me with videos enabled, I'm quite curious how well this will do. I've noticed that FP tables load twice as fast for me compared to HP, that is good news.

I'm not sure if it's possible but since many of us FP users are now using BAM, the FP window is no longer hidden when starting a table. To preserve the experience it would be great if everything could be hidden on start up. I'm not sure if that's a FPL thing or not.

How about the ability to change the font, color and size of the menu screens?

I keep thinking something like a round compiz cube for the wheel would be cool.

Oh, what also would be cool (but that's really a rather low priority) is having the ability to have two sets of pictures for the table preview (which can be switched via a key): One for 2D, one for 3D (nothing to be done on the code side though, just two different sets of pictures would be enough for now to drive all passive 3D TVs)..

Working on the next version goes well, I have to through out all the bug I've hardly implemented ;)
The next version features:

- a simple wheel-like icon bar showing the previous/curretn/next table

- possibility to customize the icon bar by changing the background texture

- font adjustments in the config file

- switch to sort for manufacturer date or alphabetical

- new bugs ;)

I just played a bit with visual pinball.xml. Looks like it can be extended without any negative effects on HyperPin.

Even HyperPin Editor doesn't mess the extra elements up if I use it to edit the xml.

So... I have a few suggestions for extra fields:

  <game name="Gorgar">
    <description>Gorgar (Williams 1979)</description>
    <pinsimlogo>tpa</pinsimlogo>
    <manufacturerlogo>williams-70's</manufacturerlogo>
    <buttonoverlay>default</buttonoverlay>
    <manufacturer>Williams</manufacturer>
    <year>1979</year>
    <type>SS</type>
  </game>

  <game name="Freddy">
    <description>Freddy - a Nightmare on Elm Street (Gottlieb 1994)</description>
    <pinsimlogo>vp</pinsimlogo>
    <manufacturerlogo>gottlieb-90's</manufacturerlogo>
    <buttonoverlay>freddy</buttonoverlay>
    <manufacturer>Gottlieb</manufacturer>
    <year>1994</year>
    <type>SS</type>
  </game>

pinsimlogo: Different logos for VP, FP, SlamIt Pinball, TPA (wishful thinking, I know), Zen. Star Wars & Marvell Pinball (yes, same as TPA)

manufacturerlogo: Brand logo of the orignal table's manufacturer. They change over the decades.

button overlay: This is a mostly transparent png for, well, see mockup in attachment.

Thanks Fuzzel... Is there anyway I can move the wheel Down to the bottom of the screen or make it larger?

I'm liking 1.4, My tables launch so fast now. In HP when launching an FP table I get a long delayed black screen after the editor is launched until the loading screen appears, with this it's instant editor, load screen. :D

Problem - PS looses focus when exiting from an FP table, I have to ctl/alt/del to get out. EDIT: VP tables as well.

For some reason it's quite slow to scroll through tables. There is a delay from when the button is pressed and sometimes it skips a table. I thought it may have been my PC but HP is 3x as fast when scrolling. It scrolls faster when I have a filter set to less tables.

I adjusted the wheel image to almost nothing except a very slight grey transparent fade and it's nice.

Requests:

Is there a way to speed up scrolling?

Is there a way to decrease the backglass delay?

Is there a way to make the menu sound (the sound when scrolling through tables) go away or change to something not so harsh. If we could control the volume levels just like in HP that would be great.

Some sort of an attract mode would be nice. I hesitate to use HP as an example but I personally like it. Maybe we could think of something else?

Hi,
hmm that's strange, I have no problems with the focus after I come back from VP/FP. Do you use the latest FPLaunch?
Do you have a SSD or a normal hard drive? The reason for the somewhat slow scrolling seems to be that PS loads each
table after you pressed a button, it doesn't cache them. I don't know how HP does it or if it's a feature of the underlaying Flash?
The sound adjustment request could be a nice feature, will add it ;)

Yep using the latest WIP 10. I use a normal drive as well no SSD. I'll try it again later, maybe it was a bad boot or something.

Thanks for the volume feature.

EDIT: A fresh reboot fixed the focus issue. Wow the tables close instantly almost, way faster than HP. Just gotta speed up the table selection. I don't know how HP does it but for the first 20 or so seconds HP is just as slow but then it quickens right up. Maybe it's caching the database or something.

Well i guess that could be one of the reasons why HP uses so much memory. I optimized PS a bit but because I have to use GDI+ which does some extra stuff it's not that fast.
