Dang !
Spent the better part of yesterday and this morning/afternoon figuring out a problem i had for a while.
Ever so often i have had some switch bouncing issues and only on the left flipper. Now i'm aware that
the i-pac's have a much, much higher polling rate versus the way slower switch (and the often even slower
person pushing the darn thing). For the longest day i have a .1uf ceramic cap in the switch line for debouncing, but
still ever so often you just could not hold the ball on the left flipper. (it's on ALL tables).
Now with installing the stupendously cool bass shaker the problem got much worse, even unplayable, what's going on ??
Surgery time ! And i had a suspicion....... With my trusted scope i set out to probe all voltage lines NOT hooked up to the computers psu.
I have a bunch of laptop bricks and wall warts in the cab, and sure enough the one i installed yesterday to power the shakers amp had "some" ripple.
It was more like Dave Grohl ragging his distorted guitar over that 12 volt line.......that was seismographic "ripple" .......
I will inspect that psu later as i suspect it to be a knock-off-imitation-china crap-Mean Well-copy.......sure it says Mean Well on the sticker, but this would be the
first one to die on me in a loooong time. Secondly i rearranged a lot of wire, separating the voltage from the switch lines, always a good plan in any setup.
I already had the SSD EM shielded with a copper plate as it sits nearby the shaker, and i now did the same with the i-Pac, it's too much, i know......still..
Anyhew, installed a fresh shiny new psu for the Bass Shaker and all is good in vpland again
@Boltbait, there is some cool jukebox software available for the cab, i have seen several postings here on the forum.
But didn't i spot some vinyl records in the background of your cab pictures ?? Surely a turntable beats a vpin ?
