Thanks for the reply. I'll add that to my project short-list along with figuring out how to mount and wire contactors and a shaker motor!

Yes, that's the optimal method that I have found.
I have read through this and I'm sure I overlooked it but I want to use this plunger for my plunger and all my buttons.
Can I use a launch ball button in conjunction with this?
I want several option buttons for hyperpin not sure I'll ever use them but everything can be remapped to my needs right?

Yes, it is labeled as "Digital Plunger Button" in the official documentation, which you can find here.
Unfortunately you can't remap the buttons on the mot-ion board. You're forced to use the exact keys that are specified in the documentation as everything is hard coded. For this reason I went with the ipac2 for the keyboard encoder and the nanotech for the plunger. An added bonus with the ipac2 is it has shift key functionality. This way you don't have to have 3 million buttons on the front of your cabinet. The start button acts as the shift key, and now every other button has a shift value.
The nanotech plunger also requires that the table has been configured with support for it. It seems that table authors are now adding it in to their new releases, but there are still quite a few that have not been updated yet. I remember seeing somewhere that Noah was going through a lot of the tables and updating them with Plunger support, but I don't think he has released them yet.
The plunger is great when there is support for it, and I really think it gives your cabinet an authentic look, but it does have it's flaws. According to their website it is programmable, so maybe they'll release an update some day.
If you are going to buy it, I would highly suggest buying it through virtuapin.net. I've heard of horror stories where the wait was several months buying it direct. Virtuapin sent mine out almost immediately after purchase.

There are so many buttons on it that I don't use for VP that I just remapped them using XPadder to do whatever I want.
You're not going to find a better kit for encoding, plunger, and accelerometer all-in-one.
As far as my plunger MODs, I'm going to get permission to upload them as MODs from their respective authors first.

Great so basically I can use the 16 inputs for whatever I want. It just won't work by default possibly for all buttons.
If that's the case then why are people spending extra money on the ipac? I know it's a great product too but if this one will do it all why spend $50 extra..
Sounds great. Now if y'all would just get some in I'll order or

Hi Noah
I can't see a post so I'm guessing they're not available yet? I'm doing a cab build from the UK, and one of these looks like the way to go for me - rare as hens teeth though from what I can tell!
Cheers,
John

I've been notified by Nanotech that they are on their way.
They are expected to arrive tomorrow or Thursday.
My apologies for the delay.

I've tried calibrating my mot-ion about 10 times now. I've tried moving the cabinet with it attached, taking it out and moving it, shaking it after reaching all four sides, etc etc. In the end I get a crosshair that is pretty centered but constantly jumps around a bit, its not close to perfectly still. Should it be? Because it is using Microsoft built in driver there is no 'dead zone' setting. Once I am in game I can get it to react a bit when I hit the right side, in the calibration screen I can't seem to get it to react much unless I hit the right side. It seems to make the game slow down quite a bit as well, the ball moves sluggish compared to when I turn PBW acellerometer setting off. I'm going to keep on trying to calibrate, but after reading I am seeing some people say the sidewinder is easier to setup and is less 'jumpy' (and has a dead zone setting) , but there is no way to use the plunger and sidewinder together?

There is a dead zone setting in both VP and FP. In VP, when loading a table, the setting slider is on the lower right.
Be sure to mount the board in such a way that when you calibrate the rest position, then return it, it's as close to the same as it possibly can be.
As for the amount of nudge, adjust the Accelerometer Gain to around 5.5 and the Jolt amount to 1500. Adjust to taste.

Here is what I am doing.
I have the unit screwed down on a piece of wood under the front of the table, I start calibration, click next, it says to find center point I dont move anything click next, it says to move to all corners so I unscrew it from the board, move it around left right up down and in a circle. Additionally I have tried shaking it a bit afterwards, sometimes agressively, sometimes just a little bit. I then screw it back down to the same spot then press next. It says return to center then press next. The plunger calibrates fine. When done, the X is near center but moves around about a half inch randomly in different directions.
Ill try messing with the numbers in VP. The dead zone setting in VP is the Accelerometer gain, the higher the number the more dead zone?

Ok I found the dead zone slider, duh. Wish it was a global setting in the joystick drive though, would be much easier to 'see' the crosshair move and eliminate movement by adjusting the dead zone that way...
Now a new problem...
When I nudge the table several times I start hearing a 'clicking' noise. Whenever I try to hit the flipper, menu, coin, or any key on the keyboard it just makes a clicking sound. I am using an Ipac-II as my input right now, not using any inputs on the mot-ion. I've read this shouldn't be an issue ? The only way I can get he problem to go away is to restart windows (7 64bit).
Any suggestions?
