I'll be stocking these devices in the VirtuaPin Store in a few weeks, so for those who want to be assured fast shipping, keep an eye on the VirtuaPin site.

i'm still not sure whether i should get one i've already found a decent way to add a plunger and make it usable (sort of) and i've got some mercury switches for the nudge. if you use this though you can't use an ipac i'm also not sold on it's built in nudge where would you mount the board so it would take full advantage of all 3 nudges you'd have to mount it up high in the center of the cab?

Well, I finally received a Hard Drive from nanotech that is supposed to be the Ultimate Ultrapin Upgrade and its...wait for it...a bad drive.

I took my Ultrapin apart, installed the drive--nothing. So I start trying to figure out the problem. After hours of trying to narrow down the problem, I put the drive into another PC and sure enough, wont read, not even recognized, and making the "clicking sound of death". And the drive manufacture date is early 2009. For $1000.00, they should have just used a SSD.

I emailed and D.R.F. promised to "send right out another HD". If it were me, and I had the growing bad rep he seems to be getting, I would have FEDex'd that thing asap. We will see how long it takes this time.

I just want my Ultrapin back together sad.gif

Well again my story is also not a success..

Last week a got a e-mail that some part's were not available to them to build the pinball wizard controller. And they should get the new stock by the end of last week.
They promised me to give me a update on monday (16th) but again no e-mail nothing... I cancelled the order and asked my money back, but i have a bad feeling about this.

Keep you all informed!

I really don't think you can blame them for a damaged hard drive through the mail. I've mailed my fair share of hard drives, and had 4 or 5 bad ones arrive within a week.
My best guess is that the department of homeland security upped the xray machine to determine if every package through any shipping center had contraband, or perhaps they are simply using the massive drop test to see if there are explosives inside every package. I tried USPS, tried insurance, tried marking it fragile with care, tried FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc etc and I have seen a drastic reduction in reliability with hard drives being delivered in working condition. It works out to 2 for 9 successful deliveries - so I'd recommend sending a usb thumb drive with the data on it, or DVDs surrounded by plenty of packing material. I've had two dvd packages arrive smashed but most of those ran the gauntlet ok. One failed drive was sent mounted in a fully packaged computer case and that arrived all busted up too.

Normally I would totally agree with you Destruk. However, the drive was two years old, and not shipped in the original box. If you are buying a drive to put the new "image' on for a Ultrapin, why would you not save the HD box and use that to ship it in? They are MADE to protect the drive?

And if it took over two months to get it to someone, and the drive DID turn out to be bad, wouldn't you ship a new one out ASAP, simply as a means of keeping a customer that just spent 1k with you happy?

And, if I had been really happy and satisfied with this purchase and the service, I would have probably talked a few friends into making purchases (Maybe one of them Ultrapins sitting in the CT warehouse).

It actually really depresses me. I really love Ultrapin, and really would like to give Props to all involved. I want to be able to brag about it, and tell people how awesome it is. I want to admire the man that had the vision for it, and started the creation process. I know it sounds lame, but that is the way I am. Sadly, after the experience I am having now, that does not seem likely. It really is a shame, cause it is a great product.

There is plenty of information on this website on how to add all of the new VP9 FS tables to your Ultrapin. (You may have to upgrade some hardware). They are beautiful tables, and they are free! I have over 170 tables on my cabinet now.

I feel bad for your experience, but I suggest you try to get your money back, and let us help you get that machine rockin again! smile.gif

I called my credit card company last week to file a claim against Nanotech. Talk about a horrible, horrible company.

They had sent that email (that's been posted to this thread for those waiting for their controller) out a couple of weeks back, saying they would give an update on Monday. They never even followed through with that! What a JOKE.

I also filed a complain.. and send several e-mails that i want to cancel the order and want my money back.. no reply on my e-mails..
Until today i got an e-mail from my CC company with a tracking number from USPS.. they got from Nanotech. They totally ignored all my e-mails! of my Wish to cancel the order.

the tracking number shows nothing.. here are the details:

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on May 19, 2011 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

To be continued..

I really hope that you all get the final result you are looking for...

Some interesting reading in the meantime....

This was from almost 2 years ago. We are all innocent until proven guilty. Does anyone know whatever happened with this? If, what the charges state are true, I would never do business with this man (why I have never ordered anything through them).

Hopefully we will see an alternative developed? (rascal worked on an analog plunger system that worked great..)

Yes the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence. Since he owns the rights to the software in question, it was a stupid attempt to get money from him.

Thanks for clearing that up. I had never heard that the charges were dropped.

What about all the other game companies mentioned in the Ultracade article? They all dropped the issue? (sounds like the editor opened a can of worms)

There is no news, and no public update because there was no case.
As far as items being shipped out late, broken promises, or other issues, that comes down to just business practices that should be improved.

How typical of the news media eh? If he had been slapped with a fine and/or thrown in jail, that would have been newsworthy and we definitely would have heard about it, but because the charges were dropped, no need to report that... not enough sensationalism I guess...

Hey if you are stocking Nanotech gear I would buy from you! Even pay you extra for supporting you since you are doing great things here. Also I like to add manufacturing electronics and catering to emails is not an easy task. Many times manufacturers are faced with component shortages because chip factories usually make a batch of a chip like a surface mount dsPIC33 for example in a certain amount to which they know will sell out, then they switch templates to make another type of chip and they usually have hundreds or thousands types of chip variations for different applications and only one factory. In the mean time buyers buy what they can and wait until the chip factories get around to producing that particular chip again. sad.gif Then there would be a lead time such as PCBs to be made (most likely China..then 1 to 2 weeks lead time and 1 week to ship to North America), individual parts to be sourced out (sometimes one outfit runs short so they have to chase around and find them in other places like Digikey, Mousers, Farnell etc), PCB assemblers also tack on a wait time as well... it all adds up in the delays and that's just one batch on one product! If they have several product line then that means more chasing around, more tech support, more email inquires etc. Investment can be high so juggling money around is pretty common. Then they must answer emails (from around the world...can take up much of their day alone), maybe assemble some stuff to cut down in costs, box, label, ship and it goes on and on. It's no wonder Nanotech customer service isn't all there even though they do deliver the goods at the end... they must be stressed out and constantly running in high RPM. If they take CC, then they probably come across CC scammers since they are a Internet business who is vulnerable; so another thing to contend with in a internet based business. So for a small outfit it's not easy as it looks, most people see the finished goods but do not understand how much work is involved in producing it. Just my two bits.

For the record, I have ordered and installed over a dozen of these now, and I have never had an issue with shipping or the functionality of the device.

I, too, am waiting on the next 'batch' to be completed for installation in new cabs, and I am confident in not only the product, but that they will deliver, now that the parts are available. I totally understand how it is to be at the mercy of a supplier and have it affect your own business's continuity, but it happens.

I'll be stocking these devices in the VirtuaPin Store in a few weeks, so for those who want to be assured fast shipping, keep an eye on the VirtuaPin site.

Finally I received my PBW 20110610.
It looks like It has been sitting at the customs office for a while also.
First impression of the pbw and the game play is that it was worth the wait.
