Four gigs of PC10700 DDR3 667MHz would seem to take care of size and speed, but your (maximum allocated?) shared RAM of 256MB is a far cry from today's recommended 1GB---plus, the 760G chipset uses AMD's Radeon HD3000 IGP operating at only 350MHz; compare that to the 500MHz and up on available discreet cards and you'll get the picture. Of course, you can install an HD3450 and run Hybrid Graphics to get a performance boost, but there are non-Hybrid cards that will probably exceed that performance without using the IGP (maybe rob046 will weigh in on this?)

Thanks to Wikipedia's article, AMD 700 Chipset Series---although they cite its being out of date, and "Public documentation is not available yet".

so basically im out of luck? i just bought this comp a couple of months ago and dont have money to upgrade.....i wouldnt be able to get decent vid card anyway without upgrading the power supply....
....far away from any ground control...

im maxed out on RAM and speed on a very oh-hum 2.2 single core.
i think the speed of this PC is 3500.
what speed do you wizards recommend for a descent gaming PC?

Hi Noah, i have windows 7 with ati 4870 graphic card.
Can not disable "HD render box"....
Why?
Because i don't have Nvidia graphic card?

to naling.
909-912 are global.
open any of these.
in the video toolbar there will be the HDR box.
check or uncheck, close and restart or there might be an error.
close and restart after playing a table
dont go table to table without closing and restart.
you might get an "offscreen z surface" error.
the video mem overloaded.

alessio.
if having graphics trouble and white images on the table you might need to invest in 2-3gs of higher speed RAM.
RAM is not all the same.
the maker puts the cheap RAM in at the time because it is cheap and keeps the price down.
installing the better RAM could easily jump the price $100 and more.
do it yourself.

DDR2 and DDR3 are not the same.
make sure you get the correct RAM and higher speed for that PC.

ok but if i play ROAD SHOW jpsals without hardware render when i take a multiball my game go to slow and it lose frame so i cant play well. if i anable hardware render the game go better but i miss the flippers (they appears only when i shot the ball). my question is: how can i play road show jpsals with hardware rendering enbled without lose the texture of the flipper? thx

dont have time to read the entire thread.....

I decided to do just that, as this is a long thread reaching back over two years. Most of the early discussion was about turning HD Render on...or off.....and it worked for some, but not others. Then disabling Direct Draw 'drew' some interest, and there were a few happy customers; one even offered a reminder 'how-to':

MISSING FLIPPERS / GRAPHICS

I'd like to share a solution for missing flippers/ball, etc ... that I found worked for me when these others did not. My card does not support AGP and turning off hardware alone did not do the trick, but with many thanks to those of you who also suggested disabling direct draw as a possible solution, I have found that using both of these options together worked perfectly and I now can enjoy VP9!

STEP 1: V9 SETTINGS (BY TABLE)

LAUNCH - VP9
OPEN - VP9 TABLE
SELECT - OPTIONS
TURN OFF - HARDWARE RENDERING
SAVE - TABLE
CLOSE - TABLE
EXIT - VP9

STEP 2: DIRECT X (9C) SETTINGS

SELECT - START (WINDOWS)
SELECT - RUN
ENTER - DXDIAG.EXE
SELECT - RUN (OK)
SELECT - DISPLAY TAB
LOCATE - DX FEATURES
DISABLE - DIRECT DRAW ACCELERATION
MINIMIZE - DX DIAG

STEP 3: PLAY!

LAUNCH - VP9
OPEN - VP9 TABLE
SELECT - PLAY

STEP 4: ENABLE DIRECT DRAW (DONE)

EXIT VP9
MAXIMIZE - DX DIAG
ENABLE - DIRECT DRAW ACCELERATION
EXIT - DX DIAG

Again, I just wanted to thank the community. This is my first experience with VP and from all I have read this forum is one of the best for helpfulness and great attitudes all around.
Like I said; happy customer. To Lysurgeon; have you, by any chance, looked into Disable Direct Draw?

i ve been telling you its the RAM. i had the same...problems with graphics, white washed, HD box, HR(high res) tables did not work and Z errors. installed 2-3gs of higher speed RAM 4600-6400 fixed it.

If I ever had 'Wizard' days rofl.gif , they're long gone now---and I'm no expert in this, so if you wonder where I get my information; here's a chart from Wikipedia's article, DIMM; Attached File  STD_SDRAMS2.JPG   112.66KB   31 downloads
and here's one that lists most of those and several more which are products of over- and under-clocking, including your 3500;

i finally had my setup to work with all my tables (24) now i added two new ones and its starting again.... white boxes without images in it.

LW3_ALPHA EDITION_FS_v1.1 and the new "Checkpoint 1.2 FS HD" release both show these white squares, dont matter if hardware rendering is on or off... the directdraw switch tutorial also didnt work for me.

win xp 32bit service pack 3
4 gb ddr3 ram
1024MB Club 3D GeForce GTX 460 SE (256mb memory)
nvidia 275.33

all other tables run maxed out, even monopoly with flash (should be the most "hungry" table that exists")

anyone with the same problem?

Attached File  Unbenannt.JPG   215.21KB   32 downloads -> LW3_ALPHA EDITION_FS_v1.1
Attached File  Unbenannt2.JPG   68.08KB   29 downloads -> Checkpoint 1.2 FS HD

appears to me like all the new flasher lights couldnt be shown. same with "checkpoint, heres a complete layer of flashers at the table and so i have just ONE BIG WHITE SQUARE.

my graphic card is pretty common in this forum (noah uses it for his cabs), thats gives me a little hope. what to do?!

would a 5€ paypal reward help your brains? tongue.gif

i just installed visual pinball in a new directory with a exe file from another page. but the table looks the same.
is there anything known about the flasher lights? dont misunderstand me, its not super important. the cab isnt nearly together, but i wanted to finish the whole software setup befor im hitting to the hardware store...

EDIT: HOLD ON.... im on the case... on my ati card know all tables are fine... triple buffer is the little menace. -> checking at the nvidia

ok it worked.... i dont know why i was the only person with that problem.

the default setting of the nvidia software are the reason for the big white blocks. i dont know which specific thing it was because i changed EVERYTHING tried it over 15 times till it was good.

here are the settings (if somebody has the same problem)

VPinball settings

Danke!!!! Das ist sehr gut! This worked for me too. I have a NVidea 610 2 MB card and 4 gig ram. It seems I over done it. I reduced my resolution to 16 bit (BAD). After setting up using your settings and going back to 32-Bit it worked. My thinking is: a recommended setting for hardware classes at the start of install could help. I think my biggest mistake was turning off (or not ckecking) Hardware rendering at the very start.

His file turns hardware rendering always on. This is why you can't uncheck the box anymore. Thats the wrong thing to do on a PC that can't handle hardware rendering, which from your pics it appears is your problem. Here is the same file with a version to make it always on or off , which you can try.

Note that destruk's hardware rendering always on fix above should only be run after you have tried many tables with VP9, and enabled the hardware rendering box, saved the table, close the table and re-load and play, and confirmed that it works, and you really want hardware rendering to be always on. This might be a good warning to put into the initial post.

I can't use hardware rendering on any of my 3 PCs, and none of them have any of the problems you listed, I have dozens of tables all working great in VP9. I like the transparency on ramps and have used it on many. Strange?

I used your fix & now hardware rendering is always of.This has fixed the problem. otvclap.gif dblthumb.gif
Cactus Canyon, The Who´s Tommy, Jungle Lord & Pinbot are playing perfectly & the problem with the grafics disapeared.
I´m using an ATI Radeon express 200 with XP/SP3.
One question though:
Is there a way I can go back to the original situation so that I would be again able to check/ uncheck "hardware rendering" manually in the VP9 editor? think.gif

THank you very much for your help. tup.gif

tnxxx so much with this tables on vp9 looks perfect !!! cool.gif cool.gif

Only issue I am having on my HP Probook 4545s with AMD Radeon HD 7520g with 8gb memory, 2.7Ghz dual core is when I turn on the hardware device rendering rendering, everything looks fantastic, except, the pinball itself is now a translucent ball that gets lost with a lot of tables, instead of being metallic and reflecting the table.  It's like a clear bubble on the screen.  I've tried VPin 9.12 and 9.14 with the same results.  Turn off the hardware rendering, and the ball color is correct but the table is not as crisp looking.

I had this issue when I had my setting for the graphics card at Max Quality. When I switched it to Balanced or High Quality the ball went back to normal. Hope this helps!

That seems to have fixed it.. Didn't even think about checking the 3d quality settings on my card to turn them back to balanced instead of high quality.. Thanks for the reply

First Time Poster. I've been using VP8 for years and never had the hardware requirement for VP9 until about a year ago. Since then, I still couldn't get VP9.x to work correctly, but this did the trick. I have HP with an Athlon 6 core processor running at 3.30GHZ, 10GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GEFORCE 560TI video card. More than enough to run VP9, but the garbled graphics and slow play always puzzled me. Thanks for the tip.
